Grid's vote was not very good. I agree with Somber that it is not very good. Ecco trying to inflate that to "exceptionally scummy" is wrong and misleading. I think there are far worse votes in the game and that Grid's was out of character for Somber to go after, which makes Somber's vote worse than Grid's. Ecco getting involved in the case strikes me as scummier than either thing, and worth voting. I didn't vote Somber because my intent in posting about his vote on Grid was to get his thought process on it. I thought maybe he'd forgotten that Grid's new, but I guess the newbie card expires faster for Somber than it does for me (I'll start seriously casing/voting newbies after 4 or 5 games).

Taking a look at Met, his kill is dumb but it doesn't look like it is outright scummy. There seems to be a logical escalation from his original vote (2) to hardening his position (3) to aggressively pursuing merk based on previous meta (3), (4). Nothing about his reads ping as "untrue" to me. I also have a ~~gut~~ sense that scum would be a little more careful about using their vigs instead of blowing it D1 on someone whose death would immediately put suspicion on them. It seems far from ideal play (not to say that people are ideal players, but that they usually do things rationally).

I would like met to clarify his thinking in deciding to kill merk and why he decided to kill him on D1.

How many games has Scruffy played? I agree that his contributions have been totally insubstantial but as far as I'm concerned people have a newbie pass until game 4 or 5, at least in early days.

To be honest that sounds like a difficult way to play. New players get dealt scum sometimes, let them handle it.

It gets a little annoying but I've made a strict policy to not vote newbies in early days until they've got several games under their belt. It's worth eating a couple losses if it grows the community; if you get dunked early game over and over you never learn anything, get frustrated, and quit signing up for games. I think the best way to handle it is even if a newbie's being SUPER loving scummy, save it for later in the game, let them gently caress up a bunch, then when things are pretty well wrapped up you can dunk them and present them with a well built case that shows exactly where their missteps were. I've pretty much always stuck to this rule and it's worked out pretty well.

This happens all the time, especially to get rid of strong aggressive town. In a nightless setup when you can't get rid of a player like merk by just killing him, this is even more true. If a player is a danger to your entire scum team, trading one member for them is a good deal.
