Well, that should feel like a good win, but I just feel like a heel. I hadn't ever played with Voco, but he looks tough to get the hang of. He's incredibly dependent on controlling spacing, and Hikaru... Hikaru isn't great at any one thing, but against specialized characters with a big weakness like Voco has, he can really exploit that weakness. Thanks for hanging in there, that looked like it was rough to finish playing out.

I do think Voco is the weakest character in BattleCON by a mile, save for the Comedy Mascot option. He has a LOT of penalties, stacked on top of each other: He has terrible ranges. His priority is bad, without the grace of stun guard to help him. His gimmick damage Base is sad, and he has no other reliable damage. His escape options are weak for such a fragile character. And his openings are painfully predictable, especially when compared to the vastly expanded openings offered by the new setup rules. "Am I gonna Hellraising Burst or Metal Dash?" And worse, Metal Dash actually got worse as an open with the new setup rules. Any one or two of these could be interesting handicaps to play around. A min-range character with only forward escapes would be awesome...if he had the priority to actually pull off his cross-ups, or damage worth the effort of setting up. I feel bad complaining about my character after that match--I keep pressing the Random Select button, I need to be prepared for the consequences. And I will totally admit, walking right into the Beat 2 Dash-counter was my own stupidity. But I feel like I'd need 10 more games with Voco to be able to do anything.

I honestly think that if his "remove zombies for soak" wasn't mandatory, or that if he could remove the zombie underneath opponents for that soak as well as the adjacent ones, he'd be a much easier character to play. He would still be tough because of his ranges, but playable. The ability to use Monster for some hit confirm like the 2nd to last beat would be devastating in most cases, and Soak 3 would make him survive a little better. He seems like a Marmalee type in that he wants to stall as long as possible by jumping around all jacked up on redbull and crowd surfing on zombies for those big hits with shred and his Finishers.
