I like how they're still having Maria parallel Hibiki at little moments, like the "transform halfway through a punch" scene or Maria's giant silver gauntlets (compared to Hibiki's gold). They're not ever going to match Maria stealing Gungnir back from Hibiki, though, that was great.

She wants to use her organ to break the world down into its component materials for study so that she can fully understand it the way her dad wanted her to. She may have lost the plot at some point. She was asked why she was fighting shortly before she "died," and she said, "I don't remember, I used up all those memories ages ago." She's burning memories for power, so she's really angry but she has no idea why. Combined with her advanced age (even if she's continually switching bodies, she is really drat old), the main villain basically has dementia. She's just trying to destroy the world instead of yelling at kids to get off her alchemical lawn.
