Where we're going, we won't need fries to see

This weekend was Coventry's Motofest weekend.

Part of the city ring road was shut down for driving displays whilst centre streets were lined with all sorts of vehicles.

They also had an offical beer made :D

I've taken over 200 images today but don't have time to process them all just yet.
I know 88h88 was there and if other goons were there feel free to add images too.

Thought I'd kick off with this Jaaaaaaaaaaaag... more to follow

Grey ting is a 'Climax' and looks like fun albeit fairly shoddy in finish. The orange AE86 also apparently killed itself under a bridge.

Finally got back to my computer.

There were a fair amount of dift cars at the event, first time I've ever seen pink tire smoke

Loved the pacman bonnet

I'm amazed this driver didn't throw up, the constant doughnuts he/she was doing was dizzying

Finished off a few more pictures of the Jag Heritage display

Bloodhound livery Jag with flashy blue lights

Not a Jag

Not actually sure what these are, probably should have looked at the plaques.

Grr

It looks like it was good!

I didn't go because I was busy on Saturday and then woke up on Sunday and was both aching lot from Saturday and there was sideways rain hitting my window.

Wish I had gone on Saturday when it was nice out.

Hope it runs again next year!

Already looking forward to next years.

For those that don't know, Coventry has a pretty decent dirt speedway and as such there were a lot of the different classes of cars going round.

My favourite that I saw had to be this guy. Not sure what class it belongs to (guessing V8 Stox) but it is like something out of Wacky Racers

Didn't see any of the mini stox driving about but there were a couple on display

I've been a fan of the asthetics of the UK Modifieds since first finding out about them

This one had to be given a little push :3

A few of the other classes too

If you are local to the area and haven't been I strongly recommend you check out one of the evenings at the race track.
It's a great spectical but is unfortunately always under pressure as there are those that want to knock it down and put houses on the land.

There were a shed load of static displays dotted around the city, pretty much on ever path/grassy area wide enough to fit things on them.

Some vehicles were just thrilled to be there

Others less so

:catdrugs:

Would like to drive this, would not like to risk rolling it

Such a good looking car

A specialist vehicle for people in wheelchairs

People worry about the size of Miatas

Mini vans for itty bitty deliver services. Side story: my dad said his first car was 2 and a half mini vans that he and his dad cut up to make one good one and then buired the rest in the back garden

Not the right bike but made me smile anyway

A gorgeous Lotus

There used to be a Capri exactly like this one near my school though it had been sat there for years covered in green moss. It probably rusted away into dust.

Hadn't been able to upload in a little while, almost finished processing that photos.

I've seen this Jag a few times and it always cracks me up

Nearby there were a few TVRs broken down parked up

I pondered what the map meant by "The French Connection" for a while.

This Citroen is pretty drat long

Beautiful Bentley which is probably worth more than my house

Complete with hoverboard gently caress yes

One last image dump.
Took a bit longer to sort through all these than expected.

Small area of Triumphs. Local point the noodle bar in the background is pretty great.

Would have liked to have seen more of the Group B rally cars but it was a bit of pot luck as to what you saw at any point

This would be great as part of Holdbrook's fleet

It's not the right type of van but then again the original didn't have heads all over it either

Sadly the festival of motoring that would have taken place in August has been cancelled but next year's motofest is already being prepared.
Hopefully the work will be done to make the whole ring road into a race track by then.

They definitely needed to incorporate a roundabout or two as two lane's width of road wasn't that much fun for the drift guys. The dude in the BMW drift car spent most of his time doing donuts in order to keep himself and the crowd at least somewhat entertained. Also your man who went the first half of the track in a rolling burnout was a hero too, he clearly doesn't pay for tyres... If they could get a section of the A444 by my house there's a roundabout and a long section up to the next towards Nuneaton way, it'd be a cool circuit and at least the surface there is predictable.

I think my friends are looking to get involved next year and get a corner somewhere to display some cars as there were some shifty odd cars that were sat about and this lot own some real nice retro stuff so it'd be cool.

Also I feel you've bigged up Noodle Bar too much, Chi Bar is the superior joint for oriental food although they've cut their opening hours and removed half the seating so that's a bit poo poo. Pity as it was the bomb when it first opened. Last time I went to the Noodle Bar I ordered food aaaaaaaand it never arrived. They then tried to charge us for it. :v:

Also I found out about the AE86... 2:18 here:

The bit leading up to the Ricoh you mean? That would be pretty great due to how wide it is but as it is one of the main routes out of town and a fair way from the centre it seems unlikely they'd block it off sadly.

Chi Bar is the better place for food but the past 3 out of 3 times I've tried to eat there it has been full and that was before they took half the seats out.

I wasn't too far from where that video was shot but couldn't see the accident from where I was. People were saying it was a near miss so I lost interest and wandered off :v:

It seems like they were trying to get everywhere involved hence the poo poo at Fargo, use Sky Blue Way and the roundabout at the bottom of the A444 that leads onto that and maybe the roundabout up the A444 too if you want to get silly... Loads of lanes for a fun layout and in all honesty you're not loving up much more in terms of traffic than you already did this year.

Is that a challenge?
Whoa nobody told me Chi Bar was any good or I'd have tried it before I moved away. For a long time I was convinced Noodle Bar and the Kasbah were Coventry's only redeeming features. :(

I told EVERYONE about Chi Bar and everyone that went declared it a winner. I think how small it was put people off, it was rare it wasn't packed but with only a 14 seat capacity that wasn't really difficult!
