Mameluke posted:What if Dolarhyde's not dealt with this season? Think about it. Richard Armitage's been wonderful in the role, Bryan Fuller doesn't care about canon, and the finale wasn't written as a finale. Maybe he escapes whatever trap Will tries to set, or he's imprisoned in Hannibal's place. That would really suck. As someone who didn't really enjoy this show that much for awhile, I have to say they've been doing Red Dragon really well and I love what they're doing with the character, so I'd be pretty disappointed we wouldn't get to see it wrap up properly.

I liked that Cox really let the pettiness shine through, and it's still my favoritescene with the telephone and Hannibal getting Will's address. Brian Cox is my favorite Hannibal Lecter, hands down. Any time I read the books I always picture him. I also like how he shot back and forth with Will so quickly. "Then how did you catch me?" "You had disadvantages." "What disadvantages?" It's a shame we didn't get to see him as Hannibal more, he'd have done great. Hopkins did good too, but he made the choice to make the character a bit too horror movie like for my tastes. I can understand why he made that decision, I just prefer Brian Cox's more realistic approach. However, one problem I had with his interpretation was that he came off a bit too brutish a few times in his first scene. I think Mads is better in that aspect.

Sub Rosa posted:I mean, this was the ending before they knew the show was cancelled. You think Season 5 would have been without Will or Hannibal? I was just thinking about this the other day. If I recall right, Fuller at one point said season four would be an original creation, with five retelling The Silence of the Lambs, if they could get the rights. For some reason I got it in my head that if a season five happened, Will would be out of the picture because of something in season four. At the same time though, I have no idea if that would be a thing that would work into the story. So much of the series has been focused on Hannibal and Will's dynamic, would the show really work without one of them?
