We are cohabitating with the World of Tanks & Warships TeamSpeak server and the TS address is 209.15.226.35:10937 and no password required at the request of the populous because using passwords is apparently hard. Due to that reason a complicated system of permissions that is making some of us pull our hair out had to be developed.. thanks goons. Any verified goon can give you permissions & tags, create your own channel and have at it. If you need us to create a specific channel please feel free to ask as well and mods will be happy to accommodate your request within reason i.e. no channel names or descriptions that promote hate speech and all that. Use common sense when you ask in other words.

There is an Armored Warfare beta test channel if you are playing and do not want to deal with shitters all by your lonesome.

What is ~~World of Tanks?~~Armored Warfare?
Armored Warfare is yet another online shooter similar to the game we all love to hate, World of Tanks.. except this time the graphics aren't nearly so lovely, the tanks are modern and arty does not rain down it's cancerous love down from the sky quite as vicious as some claim it to be in WoT. The game developer is Obsidian Entertainment - yes the same guys as South Park: The Stick of Truth, Fallout New Vegas and some random Neverwinter Nights 2 titles I never cared for. Even though Obsidian is the developer, it's Russian just like WoT and published by Mail.RU which makes even less sense and you will probably be infected by some horrible virus but whatever.

What kind of tanks are in this game?
The main focus here are modern era (1950's to current) military combat vehicles including main battle tanks (MBT's), lightly armored recon vehicles (AFV's), and assortment of light tanks, tank destroyers and everyone's favorite.. artillery! Just look at the size of this loving cannon? Look at it!!

How is this different for that 'other' tank game?
It's not, I mean really how much can you do to reinvent the wheel? What it does offer is a different spin on the game with a destructible environment, a couple of seedy vendors to upgrade your tanks and the promise of some different twists in the upgrade path, HQ customizing and playing as a private military contractor.

I want to drag my friends into this, I want in..
Currently you can only get into the alpha, beta or whatever the gently caress they call it by buying a pre-order package on the site. Yes, give them money to let you play a game in beta, I know. Conversely if you submitted your name months ago and were selected to participate then you are already playing and don't need to read any of this.

I am unsociable and don't get along with others, how do I survive in a team game?
Good news just like every other game out there it's 15 vs. 14 vs. you. Teamwork consists of 14 individuals hell bent on their own agenda, losing at all costs. You can however form a 3-man platoon and hope to beat not only the opposing forces but your own team to gain glory on the pixel battlefield. Eventually the game will offer both PvP and PvE environments so the best of both worlds sort of?

I'll add more to it as information becomes available but my initial impressions are positive. The developer seems to me more involved with the community at this point which could be seen good and bad if every whine of "NERF THIS TANK ITS TOO OPPEEEE" brings doom then meh. The game still needs optimization but runs pretty smooth on my mid-range machine. It's running on the Cry Engine which for most is well known and stable with decent graphics.

UPDATE! 2.0 is here!

I've quit this game just like everything else in my life except meth so just what the hell is this 2.0 update and why do I care?

Well have we got news for you. Obsidian was donkey punched in the nuts a few months ago and My.com took over, the game went back to Russia and we know their track record with tank games? Update 2.0 is an attempt to fixed a hosed game by implementing some fix to balancing. In order to do this everything will go back to square one and the devs will un-gently caress everything bad that has happened so far. *insert laugh track* So a few things will happen in order to save the sinking ship:

- Soft reset -
Vehicles will be removed, some will be added, some will be down tiered. You might log in and find some vehicles will be wiped back to zero and all your progression is gone along with the spent reputation but fear not they will compensate you with credits.

- Vehicle progression line changes -
My.com's crack team of developers will move vehicles around in tiers while others disappear altogether. Trust me this is in our best interest according to them. Along with these changes there will be new vehicles added and they promise it will be more enjoyable for players.

- Graphics improvements -
Sure, great. I never had a problem so I guess this applies to scrubs with lovely computers.

- Gameplay mechanics -
Too much to list but they had to fix a lot to make things better. Stuff like ammo mechanics, AP, HEAT, HESH and HE shell damage get tweaked, vehicle armor & hit points will be rebalanced and a bunch of other poo poo. The list is long and quite ambitious.

===== Useful Information =====

Look into wherever you installed the game and delete the torrent files so that you do not continue seeding after installation. The My.com launcher does not stop the seeding even if you deselect the option to continue seeding after you finish installing.

Whatever directory you installed into > Distrib > torrents (delete contents)

Wtf are retrofits and why should i use them?

Retrofits are basically the Equipment equivalent of WoT, some make you shoot faster, some make you go faster. Obsidian has scaled the price of them in relation to your vehicle tier., No more 500k GLD for my Tier 3 derp wagon

Unfortunately you need to unlock some of the retrofits from going down lines that should never use them EG BMP-3M

How do i unlock X retrofit?

Mouse over the retrofit you want and it tells you want tank you need to get to and research in-order to gain the schematic to use the retrofit.

What retrofits are good/should i use?

Nice thing about Obsidian's system is you can set the tank up how you like it! I happen to like alpha damage and accuracy so i prioritize those fits; Experimental propellant, Chrome barrel lining and magnetic articlautor is what i use on my MBT-70 so i improve my accuracy , aim time and damage.

Each of the tanks have unique retrofit layouts, so you cant usually stack 3 of the same types of mods (MBT-70 pay2win amirite?)

i would recommend using retrofits to either cover a tanks weakness ( MBT awful aim times) or enhance they already excellent stats (AFV view range)

What line gives the best upgrades for almost all my tanks?

Td's while great to play dont offer any decent retrofits.

M109 line offer's an excellent commander (Female that's great in MBT's) and good MBT upgrades ~~also gives you an excuse to play arty~~

Leo line offers damage and accuracy, AND hull traverse + acceleration; line offers the most for all tanks.

BMP gives crew save + view range.

At-least i have a reason to grind lines that i probably don't want to play

System could do with some indication how it works mechanically but its intuitive and lets you play the way you want to play, i like it so far.

Vision
The max draw distance in the game is 707 meters
Your orange circle is about 500 meters
Learn the vision ranges of tanks your tier. Mainly other AFVs and TDs. Light tanks, artillery, and main battle tanks, as a general rule, can not see far. There are exceptions to this like the Sheridan.
If you are being spotted by something you can't see, ask for arty help with smoke, flares, or just move to a new location.
Do not scout cities or areas without a long distance between you and any obstructions. Cities are the home of the MBT so stay out of cities unless you are scouting a really long road.
Stand still for 3 seconds to get +40 or +80 meters of vision based on your module.
A vision range of 400 or greater is a good vision range.

Camo
When needed, tap R or F once to maintain a slow speed to keep your camo value high.
The large tank indicator on the bottom left of the UI shows your bonus to camo on the bottom and shows your directional cover bonus in every direction.
Bushes help but are not required at all.
A camo rating above 0.20 means you have a good camo rating.

What to do
Look at the number of scouts, TDs, and MBTs before a match starts. Use this as a prediction of where the enemy might be and where your team will go.
If you have more scouts than the enemy, try to support MBTs or tackle for the artillery.
If you have more MBTs than the enemy, play cautious, camp, you will be needed late game.
You always have three options: Move foward, stay still, and move away. Do not forget those last two options.
Learn to count to 13, or maybe 15. Count the enemy dots on the map to learn where they are. Include dead people and artillery. You can use this to figure out where gaps are on the map.
The first 2 minutes are your time to shine. Don't die being stupid.
After the first two minutes, wait for 3 or 4 enemy tanks to die before moving out.
If 2 more minutes go by and your team isn't doing well, move somewhere else.
If you have an opportunity to ring the bell of shame by sitting on the cap point, do it, but make an exit strategy. If you pull 2 tanks away from the front line, your allies have to fight two less tanks.
Try to survive until the end game so that your MBTs will have a vision advantage over the enemy.

Centauro: More problems than you'd guess. Since the gun is placed far back on it's boat-like hull your gun depression isn't that great. Accuracy is more of a suggestion than anything else. Not as stealthy as you might think. Penetration is OK, and the damage is good when you hit things. Worse than the ERC.

VBL: God king of recon or clown car with a death wish depending on your matchmaking and if any Wiesels are on the enemy team. The cannon is anemic against MBTs ( unless you're behind them ), but when you can penetrate, it does a vicious amount of damage. Loads of fun.

T-72A: It's a somewhat better Ural that can shoot ATGMs. It's OK. Your driver's hatch doesn't get ERA, so protect your neck if you're fighting someone with ATGMs. Terminators can just sit there and dunk all four missiles right into your hatch.

XM1: Mobile, good gun, good armor. I use mine to bully MBT-70s around and it's funny every single time. Pretty good.

Bradley: This thing is death to all thin-skinned vehicles anywhere around it. It's fast, it does horrendous damage, and it's more armored than you'd think. A good player in a Bradley is a huge pain in the rear end. It's a lot like a BMP-2, but bigger and meaner.

BMP-3: A cannon, autocannon, and missiles. It still has no gun depression but Russian faerie magic lets you dink HE into the front of MBTs for hundreds of damage. Fun tank.

Leo 2AV: It's a bigger XM1 with somewhat worse armor and slightly better gun handling. Yay?

Stingray: The highs are very high and the lows are very frequent. People will scream at you for sniping because they think you're an MBT, but you have the armor of a toaster. It's fast, it's somehow fun, and it's more or less useless if you don't flank and can't snipe well. Autocannons will ruin your day.

Yeah I have a 60mb down and it crawls for me too. I can flawlessly livestream Tijuana donkey show porn without a hitch but can't get a decent download from AW.

I created a battalion, their version on a clan and named it... DONG. This is already much more pleasurable than last test with the graphics optimization, ability to tweak the GUI plus other improvements to gameplay. We had fun running a 3-man and just rampaging through in our Scorpions killing people with run-and-gun carousel of death tactics.

What I really want to do is take some of the clan names like Chai, Roxy and the others that will get bent about it when it is not available. The chats I can imagine will be really really interesting.

"Hey that is our clan name.."

"No it's not."

"We use it in WoT and blah blah.."

"Okay, well it's mine now. Nyah nyah."

There was a 329 MB update this morning. Not that it will fix your issue x.

I am pretty sure you can run a game integrity check from the My.com dashboard. ~~Once the EU server goes live at 11 I will check and post back.~~

Open the My.com launcher, after you update the client from the Play drop down you have the option to 'Verify and fix installed game client files'.. try that?

The My.com launcher will open even when the servers are no online and you can update the client and run the integrity check as well. I did that for shits & giggles before suggesting it to you. Also anyone who reads this and decides to look at it and sees the 'Delete game installation files' option, FYI removing that saves you 24 Gb but also forces you to download the entire package on the next update. This last patch was almost 11 Gb and if I had removed the game install files it would have been double the wait.

When you play the LAV-150 be sure to pack the HE incendiary rounds.. anyone you hit will burn, even the MBT's like the T-62. When they catch on fire, even for an insignificant amount they tend to run because fire extinguishers are hard. I have burned down a few Scorpions who thought they had the upper hand then burst into flames.

gently caress me last night was a miserable gaming night. I think our platoon lost every match and they were all run away, one-sided poo poo fests where half the team was wiped out before we even had a chance to get into position. The culmination of the evening was running into the three fucktards from PBKAC who had a tier 7, 6 & 5 top tier in a tier 3 match. We were thoroughly and completely poo poo on. Everything I shot at the tier 7 was a ricochet.. three full on side shots from the M60 which should have done something.

We switched to botes and that was not better so we quit for the evening. I can't do failcascades anymore like I used to.

Also the lower tiers you can enjoy the hell out of a fully decked Scorpion or hell the LAV-150 with incendiary rounds like I mentioned a few posts earlier. Pubbies panic when they are set on fire even if it is just a few ticks of damage.. but when every shot connects each time they poke out and they are on fire all the time it is absolute gold.

Sounds like you are having a similar experience. "Oh poo poo, what the gently caress happened to our team? They're all dead?!" We had almost back to back maps I think where our top tier MBT would yolo out front without support and get killed and two minutes later we are down 8 tanks to none.

So for example switching AP to HE cuts the reload so that every 2 seconds I am reloaded or switch the shell then back to make it 2 seconds? If the first is the car then you could run the different AP shells and cycle through them.

I'm using an Nvidia 660Ti with an i5 2500k and 16Gb of ram. I can run at about mid right now with 60 FPS. I disabled core 1 on a recommendation to try and solve some performance issues and it seems to have helped. There was some optimization since the last patch though.

Well thanks for ruining that for me. I was waiting to hear "mobile xvideo card and mobile yCPU".. party pooper.

LAV-300 is fun. I have not unlocked any of the upgrades except for the two first shells, it's like 10k for the gun and I can imagine the subsequent shells will be up there too. When you sink a good shot it deals damage otherwise they are meh but enough to make some MBT's think twice. I really want the Centauro again.. then I will be much more happy.

Yeah I have to give them credit they are good at keeping the community informed of things.

I PM'ed one of them via the forum about a player I recorded who may have been hacking asking where I should sent the link to and he replied within minutes. He even came back hours later to tell me they were looking into it further, asked me a couple of questions and thanked me for bringing it to his attention. I received yet another PM yesterday evening from the person on the dev team who was reviewing it and he cleared it up for me.. even though I was still skeptical of the explanation and the outcome but again, they went to great lengths unlike WG where your support tickets are replied to six months later as 'Thank you but gently caress off.'

When you launch from the My Com launcher you will get two mycom.game executables and one ArmoredWarfare.exe.

So in taskmon you should see at least the two mycom.game exes.

Scorpion is a fun go-fast and sucker punch MBT's when they are engaged with other vehicle and cannot blow you to pieces. Also it is really good for loving up other lights that cannot keep up with it. If you learn how to be really effective shooting on the move with it you will enjoy it loads and in a platoon it can be a blast.

Also never not use incendiary rounds firing them into unsuspecting enemy buttes..

I play EU when I work from home weekdays or on weekends if I am dicking around and have nothing to do but I definitely prefer NA because the desync on EU is loving painful.

No donations prior to billing cycle and what we had in the kitty ran dry. I logged in to fund it and get the "need to contact billing support" which is conveniently closed on weekends. Not surprised though. RIP TeamSpeak.

AW does have a public server they propped up for everyone to use that we can ride on till Monday.
