Friends probably don't hack the FBI from their friend's computer. They also probably don't do it under the watchful eye of some security guy unless there is no other option

That's an interesting idea. Then his repeated attempts to take her to dinner or "celebrate his birthday" are actually him trying to get to know his daughter and not him hitting on her.

It would be completely loving stupid

OK guys, so I haven't seen any of season two since I'm planning on binging through the whole thing in a weekend once it's finished, but last night I sat around listening to all the friends that I watched season one with say it's almost as bad as the second season of True Detective. Please thread, tell me this isn't true and they were just messing with me/idiots.

For some reason a lot of people think it has got worse, those people are people you shouldn't listen to though.

What is it with this show and people coming up with the stupidest theories. I read someone elsewhere saying they thought Elliot was actually in prison for all of season one too :psyduck:

I don't mind the use of them, but you can tell that it's probably not someone that interesting at the door because it would be a much better cliffhanger to reveal who it was otherwise. Like, if it was Tyrell or something, then that's much better being the last shot of an episode rather than the first shot of the next one.

Are they technically airing one two hour episode or two back to back one hour episodes?

I checked USA's schedule and it looks like they're only airing part 1 of the final episode tonight - http://www.usanetwork.com/schedule

I also thought Tyrell looked/sounded different, I was actually wondering if it was meant to be him when he was in the cab. When they were outside and he wasn't in profile it was obviously the same guy. Weird.

I still don't think there will be anything supernatural or sci-fi about the show, but I don't think I would mind if there is. It would probably be done very well

My poo poo theory:

Phase 2 is an attempt to transition to post-capitalist (cybersocialist?) economic/governing system based on decision support systems.

Elliot/Mr.Robot as well as Whiterose are radical moralists who have no qualms about hacking into people's personal data and destroying or altering their unethical behavior through blackmail if they are acting out of line. Obsessed with human error and accident they have misanthrope beliefs: they see individuals as easily exploitable or "corrected" if there flaws are read correctly. WhiteRose simply wants to do what pre S1 Elliot does on a grand scale. Her project does not involve time travel, alternate realities: it is based on Chile's own failed Project Cybersyn but altered to fit the global stage: a massive world economy and politics simulator synthesizing trillions and trillions of pieces of data to spew out detailed fall-out reports (alternate realities) about any given decision. Unfortunately the amount of energy this massive neural network takes is astronomical (quantum computing?) hence the brownouts. Whiterose already lives her life in strict accordance to some computer's pre-programmed timeline to achieve her goals and her curiosity about alternate realities and time travel is fulfilled by seemingly having data on these so -called realities. Her weird interest in Angela comes not from anything in her past but the fact that Angela seemingly plays a large role in her life no matter what decision she makes. Elliot's father and Angela's mother were unknowing workers on this project in its nascent phase.

That's actually kinda neat, though I can't really see Elliot wanting to pretty much give control of the world over to a computer system

Angela's complete heel turn is certainly bothersome, but now that I've had time to think about it, Tyrell's utterly different personality is the one thing that bugs me the most. Season one Tyrell was a spiteful, arrogant pyschopath who didn't give a gently caress about anything except for himself and his wife. He spent at most 24 hours with Elliot 5 months ago, and now he's this lacky who's in puppy love and groveling for Elliot's approval? What the poo poo?
It's sort of explained by Tyrell in the episode. He says that he believes in fate, that there is a reason why he and Elliot met and that they have some kind of connection. Even going back to season 1, you could see in their interactions that Tyrell was weirdly drawn to Elliot. It just occurred to me too that we don't know if this is really the first time Elliot has met Tyrell since the hack, and I'm guessing it probably isn't since it seems as if Mr Robot has been communicating with Tyrell without Elliot knowing. That communication in Tyrell's eyes is with Elliot, though.
