Can someone remind me, when did Mr. Robot first pull Tyrell into the scheme? It had to have been sometime after he offered Elliot the head of cybersecurity job but was there a definitive moment?

Tyrell was just impressed by Elliot when he offered the job. Then he discovered that Elliot was behind getting Colby arrested with the dat file in Colby's server and believes it was for revenge, but he doesn't care just how disappointed he was by how banal Elliot, seemingly, turned out to be. Finally he has that meeting with Gideon where it is revealed that the E-Corp server that had been attacked still had the rootkit on and that Gideon was leaving it as a honeypot to catch Fsociety.

This is when Tyrell investigates and has his Revelation of what Elliot was trying to do. Cause this was already during his own mental breakdown after being turned down CTO, he begs Mr Robot to let him in on the conspiracy, which is denied to him. He continues to spiral down(His God speech to his wife), after being fired he gives up begging and straight up says that he will kill Elliot if he can't see the rest of the plan, after Elliot had his own Revelation about Mr Robot.

So Tyrell only really becomes part of the scheme when Elliot brings him to the arcade, on the night of the hack. Then promptly tries to kill Tyrell cause he was a nutcase. The gun jammed, the Dark Army shows up, and now they are working together.

Someone above mentioned that Pryce took the deal b cause he was smitten with Angela. Do we all think that? While that is possible, I read that scene is “this is part of the plan, we need to go to Allsafe because <nefarious hidden reasons for 5/9>.

It wasn't because of 5/9. When Angela gives the job to Elliot, E-Corp is already an Allsafe client, this is mentioned on season 2 during the flashback to Halloween when Elliot puts on Mr Robot jacket and the mask and starts planning with Darlene the hack. He takes the job at Allsafe so he can take E-corp from inside.

I guess the theories that Price is her father are turning true? The mysterious donor that paid her mother's bills, and now him taking Allsafe because of Angela, guess it sort of makes sense, even if it's a bit lame. I'm willing to bet the people that pick up Angela are Price's and not Witherose. Or Price really got the hots for her, works either way.

He did say this episode that things like 5/9 happen because people like him allow them to happen. Seems like maybe he hired AllSafe as a vendor knowing Angela worked there already so he could eventually use her to drop the plant inspection from the lawsuit by the families of the victims of the toxic waste leak. He probably was counting on 5/9 fallout to give him the opening to manipulate her.

I also assumed the mysterious donor was Whiterose since Angela's mom was apparently working on whatever Whiterose is doing.

Angela only reopens and pursues the Washington township case because Colby was outed as the man involved in the cover up. This information only comes out because of fsociety actions.

The timeline of events is more or less this:

Price, Colby, and Wellick visit Allsafe based on Price desire, Allsafe is hired by Ecorp to handle their online security->Halloween night where Darlene visits Elliot and he has his first Mr Robot turn and decides to hack E-Corp by having Elliot taking Angela job offer at Allsafe->Mr Robot contacts the Dark Army with a Two Stage plan to hack into Ecorp, Dark Army accepts->the rootkit on Ecorp servers attack happens during Episode 1

Price most likely only knew of the coming hack after Mr Robot contacted the Dark Army, probably he only knows of it when the Colby leaks start to happen. Before Mr Robot, Whiterose was working on some other way to execute her plan, as her lover makes it explicit this episode. The Dark Army was planning something for some time, but Whiterose decides to go with fsociety, even though Mr Robot's plan meansmore trouble and potentially dangerous. It is possible that Allsafe was at some point considered as E-corp fail point by Whiterose, but when Price visits Allsafe for the first time, there is no 5/9 being planned by Mr Robot.

What is certain is that Whiterose had been planning for this to happen. And this, to me is looking to be fairly certain at this point, not time travel or whatever, but having the world turn to digital currency, and having her in control of the corporation that manages it, and the equipment and resources needed to create such currency(the nuclear power plants, the coltan mines). Mr. Robot revolution was just the perfect way to get it done. Whiterose obsession with time also ties into all this, cause time is money friends. :v:

As for Price and Angela, it is either that he is her real father; or that he knew her mother and feels guilty, or he has the hots for her. Him visiting Allsafe with his reaction and adamant decision, before Elliot is working there, does suggest to me that he made the decision because of Angela and Angela alone, but it wasn't because of some future hack or her going after her mother's case, all that happens after Elliot is working at Allsafe and after the Colby hack.

Also the goon that mentioned that all Angela wanted to do was smoke weed and watch Back to the Future 2, is a pretty good observation. That happens on the very first episode of the first season, Angela even says that's what she and Elliot did when they were younger. Her obsession of being able to go back to simpler and easier days has been present since the very start of the show.

Edit: Also I seriously doubt Whiterose cares for some woman that died because of her plant. This is the same woman that requires her "workers" to kill themselves if caught, she ain't giving a gently caress bout some American woman with nuclear cancer or whatever.

uhh, is there evidence at all that Price is Angelas dad or?

There isn't much so far. It become a theory last season, and if you check very early on the thread some people have suggested it too. However this season we do learn that Angela's mom medical bills were being paid by some mysterious donor, and now you have this episode where he lights up by seeing Angela. Price does have a soft spot for her. Until the last two flashbacks, I was mostly convinced that Price only saw Angela the same way Whiterose saw Elliot/Mr Robot, just a tool to hurt Whiterose. But now there seems to be more to it.

I mean I hope it doesn't turn out to be her father, because that would be boring, but I can see it now.

Considering Dom didn't seem like she was still drunk/hungover when she caught Darlene, and that she was able to silently roll out of bed and sneak up on her, I got the sense that Dom was aware of Darlene's game the whole time and the giggly drunkenness was an act. If Darlene's going to try and play Dom and drastically get all nicey-nice and forthcoming suddenly, might as well get laid out of the deal before catching her in the act since she's super lonely all the time and Darlene's no longer a source. Dom's a very smart FBI agent with her own evidence room, there's no way she fully dropped her guard and didn't see this coming. Especially since she had the presence of mind to lock up her ID and gun despite supposedly being shitfaced. Also I don't think Darlene's that good at seduction.

That's not to say the ideas about them planning afterward to take down Santiago can't also be true, but judging from the look on Dom's face when he stonewalled her in his office, it seemed like she might have just figured out Santiago was dirty.

Dom has/had a genuine crush on Darlene, it's been building for awhile, especially since their previous encounter at the bar, where Dom begins to open up, as Darlene is the only real human connection that she has that isn't a coworker. While Dom may be a very competent FBI agent, she is still at the end of the day, a lady whose only meaningful relationship in life is a consumer product that tells her the time of the day and plays music. It isn't that Darlene is extremely good at seduction, but more that after growing up with her brother, she is very good at recognise lonely people. Darlene is a very good hacker, and finding human flaws is her job, she charms Dom by making her extremely aware of her loneliness and social awkwardness, and giving Dom the idea that she is being open with her.

Despite the title, not everyone in the show is a robot without feelings.

Trust and communication has been the entire theme of the season. Nobody is honest or really talks to each other, and everything gets hosed up. Elliot and Mr Robot don't talk to each other and the result is 71 buildings blown up and thousands of dead. Angela doesn't tell the truth to Elliot and ends up complicit in a major terrorist attack and goes full on crazy. Elliot says to Angela that he has a plan but doesn't bother to really tell her the hows and whys, so Angela also doesn't really bother to tell Elliot how she plans to get into Sentinel, ending up in the process of breaking the trust of the only other person that has feelings for her.

Above being a show about hacking and global conspiracies, Mr Robot is a show about people and their difficulties in building real relationships. Dom shows genuine care for Darlene and is even overprotective of her, something that neither Santiago or her partner really get. She likes her and has clear feelings for her, she sleeps with Darlene because she stops overthinking it, because she wants it to be real, not because she figured Darlene's plan out. Dom like Elliot, or Angela, is just looking for somebody to love in this strange hosed up world, but as Darlene is also another weird and broken woman whose brother doesn't really trust to tell his grand plan, she fucks it up and makes things worse.

Don't think Dom and Darlene hatched a plan between getting caught and going to the FBI, in large part because I think the show would be worst if their reconciliation and re-bonding happened due to a moment done offscreen. Dom will figure out Santiago, and she will go back to Darlene, where they both slowly start to trust each other. Dom trusting Darlene will come when she finally stops trusting the FBI.

Regarding Lolita: People have mentioned the unreliable narrator, but the real connection to Mr. Robot, is that both works have the main character addressing the audience as their friend and confidant. Humphrey is convinced that by explaining himself and being friendly with the reader he will be not only absolved of his crimes but his actions vindicated, and that is the world and Lolita that are wrong, and he is right, and so will the reader see this to be true after being convinced of Humphreys innoncence. Meanwhile Elliot hopes that the audience will be his friend, his only real friend, someone to tell him and explain what the gently caress is going on, cause he no longer is able to cope with it.

Unfortunately for Elliot, his best friend is too busy thinking about time travel and other dimensions, and convinced that Elliot is actually a Swedish crazy man, on top of being his own sister, sister who also has her split personality in the form of their childhood friend. Sorry Elliot. :smith:
