Hahaha the entire thing the season was building towards happened off-screen

Guess that explains why I've read so many angry whiny comments about the finale

I'm digging the institution theory but if that is the case I hope he's out of there by ep 4 or so. While I love the focus on Elliot's mental state over the main hacking fsociety plot I do want to see him interacting with the rest of the cast and getting involved sooner rather than later.

To be fair calling it "trite" after literally just the premiere is a bit ridiculous. Also I don't agree at all. This definitely feels like a new era, and even the cinematography was throwing out new tricks. It feels like a troll post because trite is one of the least accurate words you could use to describe these two episodes.

I get most of the criticisms but I think a lot of them stem from the fact that it's the premiere and the show is catching us up with everyone etc. But the idea that they "already covered" Elliot's mental demons makes me think some people want this to be a different show than it is. Elliot's mental demons have been and always will be the primary focus of the show.

I personally would describe this episode as 'confidently refined'. I'm really happy that they're choosing to not jump straight back into hacking stuff.

this episode was fantastic - again - but i think we can only have one more episode without some sort of big change in elliot's circumstances before i start to get pretty tired. although it definitely seems like things are progressing that way with the episode's ending, so that's cool

anyway this is totally the best show on tv right now

I was trying to remember if that was the first scene or not - so every episode this season so far has started with a flashback.

I think everything Elliot's doing is 100% as shown and all the things like trays and background sounds are red herrings. I hope they specifically do not provide an answer as a big reveal about where he's been. I'd quite like this, actually.

Since the show's already done "online child porn" and Elliott would likely not give a poo poo about drugs, I think Ray's online business will end up being contract killers - and it will turn out his site was used (possibly by Darlene) to hire the guy who killed Gideon.

This is an interesting theory. I don't know if I believe it for the show, but I'd quite like it. That or the human trafficking idea.

Great ep. This doesn't really bother me because I'm not an uberdork but it did make me laugh that so much of the season has been about a Tor site and then when you finally get to see it they opened it in Firefox. How did they possibly make that mistake haha

How'd this episode do for the institution theory?

Escobarbarian
Jun 18, 2004

Grimey Drawer
I didn't actually know that, but I'm pretty sure Tor doesn't just open with a "Welcome to Firefox!" page and have the Firefox icon, right?

Also who do we think was behind the attack on the FBI?

Was the picture of the kidnapped woman totally blurred on the broadcast version? On Amazon Prime there were black bars over the eyes/boobs but that was it I think.

edit: never mind I was wrong. black bar over the eyes was a blindfold and there's nothing on the breasts, so it's totally uncensored.

Whenever I read the reviews for this show I find critics are always taking it as a given that the Elliot scenes are the least interesting part of an episode, which is so far away from my perception it sorta makes my head spin.

Utopia wasn't that good, though, especially compared to this show and Black Mirror. Having nice widescreen cinematography is no substitute for decent script work.

Spoilers for the Mr. Robot app below, trying to figure out if I broke it or something:

Last night I was trying to text Lois Berry to get her login credentials and it didn't go so well. The last thing that happened was she said she'd just login for me when she gets to the office in a few hours and I said "Lois, that'll be too late!" And that was 14 hours ago, haven't heard anything since. In the middle of the conversation I got some additional information from Darlene, and I haven't heard anything new from her or "E" either...is it normal to go this long without any notifications? I'm pretty sure I failed this first assignment anyways and now I'm wondering if I mucked up the sequence of events somehow.

It's been almost a day and Lois hasn't responded to my initial message :(

The more I think about it the more I'm really not a fan of the fact Elliot's story so far this season is like.....two thirds of his season arc. I'm happy with what we've had with him, but a lot of it has been repeating itself somewhat, and I'm hoping getting into the final act of the season means actual progression, the one thing this season has sorely lacked (and this is coming from a huge, huge fan of slow character-based storytelling).

She doesn't respond back but you should have gotten a tip from her. Check her messages again. Also ask Darlene for more info.
Answer below:
it's the hr phone number. Message them and say that you're her husband and you need access to your 401k. You should message Darlene for more info about Mrs.Berry's husband. He works as a real estate agent. You'll need to give HR that info and they give you the file.

Thanks for this, but it doesn't seem to help. Lois never even responded to the first message I sent her, and I don't have an HR contact to message. Googling shows me that you get it in the course of messaging her. I've checked any other contact and can't send anything to anyone else. Bummer :(
