When I saw that there was going to rape in episode 3, as a rape scholar, this one surprised me. Is Tommy going to be ok? I thought the dudes were going to pull a train on him. That thought would probably traumatize me more than Liv Tyler throwing me a pity gently caress.

I tend to skip past the intro music but I do that for every show. Yeah though if the intro music reflected how bleak the show often is it would be too much. Way too much. I don't mind the shows mystery stuff and I don't really care if it all get explained in some series of revelations. That would seem almost irrelevant. Its more a characters achieving emotional growth while living around tragic and ambiguous events thing than a what explains it all kind of thing. I didn't watch all of Lost but I wouldn't let that show off the hook for having a lovely mysterious element to it that never gets properly explained or Battle Star Galactica for its weak rear end reveals but I think that's because the characters in those show gave a poo poo. No one in the Leftovers is trying to figure out what it all means. Well like the government and researchers are but I mean the characters the show is about.

there's also the moment from episode 2 where he refused to hug his sister and said he was sick, which would tie into what he told the therapy group about being afraid and all that jazz before then. But that was probably more about him feeling awkward around his sister and to get people like me to post on message boards supporting him actually believing in his magic hug powers. Anyway, I was worried about season 2 after seeing in the trailers that they just upped and moved out of Mapleton to a random new place. Wasn't sure they would be able to recapture the elements that made season 1 good. But they did and took it to a new level. Show good.

I kept waiting for the reveal that Holy Wayne was the one that had risen from the dead in Australia, but I'm thinking not after the son co-opted his schtick.

Wasn't Holy Wayne on the TV at one point in the episode (just before it was talking about Australia)? I'm sure i recognised the British actor that played him.

I don't really care if Holy Wayne was legitimate or not. I just want a few more scenes of him this season.

Holy poo poo, it took me until the day after I watched the episode to realize that each and every time Laurie was washing the car it was because she had plowed into different GR people. (I may be slow.) The thing is, I thought it was a good episode before I realized that; now I think it was great. Realizing that made me giddy.

That's a horrible way to try and get a company to publish your book, Laurie.

I love the snare drum that was rolling during Laurie's scenes. Pretty much sent the "not giving a gently caress" theme during that section perfectly.

This series is seriously getting better and better but for the love of crap get back to Miracle so we can resolve what the hell is happening there.

So they just took two characters I really didn't give a poo poo about from season one and told a story with them that was so engrossing I probably wouldn't have noticed if my couch was on fire. This show is astoundingly good. Also, new intro has really grown on me.

As a person who hated the first season, the leap in quality so far is pretty astounding. They've basically taken the only good episode of season one (priest one) and made it the blueprint for each episode. Hope it keeps up.

I think this is mainly because of two things: The guilty remnant now being known for what they are and what they can do, and everyone's hostility practically justified by the audience, and Kevin being absolutely bonkers insane already being known. Having both of those aspects slowly reveal themselves took a while, but now the cart has left the stable and is zooming down this weird, hosed up hill.

Isn't it kind of strange to have this show leaning on "Where's My Mind" when (different show spoiler) Mr. Robot did the same thing earlier this year? Not saying it's on purpose, just strange.

How is a different show a spoiler? Never seen Mr. Robot so it doesn't seem odd to me at all. Odd that Californication used it in 2014? Unsettling. It also looks like Covert Affairs used it in 2013. And The Neighbors in 2012. Warehouse in 2011. This keeps getting stranger guys.. I'm scrolling through this Wikipedia article about Where is My Mind and I keep seeing the song used in a couple different types of media. Even movies. Very weird.

The shows used them in close succession, so close that it could only be coincidence and not inspiration. It is just a thing people notice, and sometimes mention on forums dedicated to discussing television. Also shame on you, watch Mr. Robot.
