it made it possible to do things like permanently miss firaga/blizzaga/thundaga if you don't buy an octagon rod on disc 3 in ff9

Even if you get the rod, Vivi's pretty useless in Memoria.

The problem is that by the time Vivi gets to this point, basically everyone can do 9999 in non-elemental damage, sometimes without MP, and do other things, and actually take a hit. I think the only character less useful in the endgame is Quina, and even then she's got Mighty Guard, and maybe Zidane, since Vivi can hand out status effects and Zidane basically just attacks.

Edit: Zidane's better if you've gotten Thievery to the 9999 point.

That ending is extremely good but it bummed me out when I realized Vivi died.
