In most cases if you survive a first meeting with Vader as an enemy/opponant you'll be shaken up for awhile and probably thankful you survived, not thinking about tracking devices.

Edit: Season 1 dvd/bluray coming out Sept 1. No new eps until soon after that?

So while I don't play the X-Wings miniature game, Fantasy Flight Games just announced their next expansion wave for the game, this wave is mostly to do with SW: Rebels and they have added the Ghost (and Phantom), the Imperial light cruiser (and escort TIE fighters) and the Inquisitor, along with his TIE advance prototype to the game.

Plus one of the art cards has a realistic looking Agent Kallus, pretty grizzly.

I haven't watched or read up about Rebels: Season 1. I was really disgusted for TCW for being cancelled and remade into Rebels, a Disney version of TCW with a smaller budget aimed at possibly even younger kids than on Cartoon Network. I do know that a couple key people behind TCW got moved to Rebels which gives me hope that the show can appeal to a young adult Star Wars fan.

So how is the show? Are the plots and characters actually compelling? Or does it contain lots of JarJar Binks type tomfoolery and meaningless stories in the Star Wars universe? I still debating to spend the money on buying Season 1 bluray.

Also I just watched the clip above, it looks like it took a graphical hit compared to TCW, but of course that's just 1 small scene. Also I disappointed that Hondo gets all the fame while my favorite villain Cad Bane gets left in the dust.
Having only seen one season of TCW (slowly watching it on netflix) and I know that show gets better as it goes on, I can say Rebels is very good and more entertaining for me, at least it had a more solid and coherent first season, given it follows a small group and not a galaxy.
Just watch it, you won't hate it, you just might not like it as much.

Speaking of S1, bluray/dvd announced, looks to have those Rebel Recon youtube videos as extras plus celebration Q&A panels, plus a season 2 preview thingy.

Coming to Blu-ray and DVD on September 1, Star Wars Rebels: Complete Season One brings another chapter in the epic Star Wars story to your own personal Jedi Archives. With 15 action-packed episodes, never-before-seen bonus material, and interviews with the cast and crew, the only thing missing is your own kyber crystal.
So you can probably find it in stores now.

It wasn't the strongest episode in terms of writing, but it worked well as a bit of a history lesson for the story. It was weirdly paced but I suppose being a two parter it could be fine in that context.

I hope it goes into a bit more depth next week.

They are but some of the animation poses are pretty bad. That end sequence was quite wooden, Kanan with his head not quite in his hands, looked like he was thinking about another move of space-chess rather then being sad that he missed this encounter and doesn't know anything about the enemy. The show is good but they still have room for improvement as it goes on.

New enemies are cool, sith recruits. Decent with the force but not great.

Kallus probably knows about the Death Star or at least some 'big secret project' because isn't Lothal being mined for the construction of it? plus used as a TIE factory for that sector which would make it important, hence the strong Imperial presence.

So, the Imperial frigates we see, like mini star destroyers, are they supposed to be like the Imperial Raider from FFG? I mean, wasted opportunity for both of them.

I hope we see the Imperial Raider in the tv/movie formats sometime. It'd be perfect for Rebels to use as it is only a few times bigger than the Ghost.

io9 (i know, I know) had an interesting comparison:

quote:

A Rebel ship is sucked into a mysterious new vessel. Two heroes pose as Stormtroopers to make a daring rescue but, first, they must disengage the vessel’s defense system before a daring, blaster filled escape. Sound familiar?

Not only are those plot points from Star Wars: A New Hope, they all happened on the latest episode of Star Wars Rebels called “Stealth Strike.” The episode basically took the second act of A New Hope - Luke and Han’s rescue of Princess Leia on the Death Star - and changed it to be Kana and Rez rescuing Ezra on a mysterious new Imperial ship. With a few Rebels twists.
Although I don't know who Kana and Rez are :v:

A decent episode with a bit of exposition given it was just an 'enemy mine' episode. I wonder if Kallus will look into why Geonosis is barren (because they designed the death star) down the line.

After this episode I wouldn't be surprised if Kallus helps the rebellion at some point in the future if he decides to change sides, although it'd be a final stand sort of deal if anything. Those last thirty seconds had him questioning how the Empire operates I reckon, all alone, almost ignored by the admiral.

A decent Starship Troopers episode, 'The only good bug is a dead big' pity they didn't nuke the nest. Rex's Roughnecks?
I noticed the facial and smaller non-looping character animations have gotten a lot better, this episode had some decent closeups of peoples faces, hopefully by season 3 they get a second set of clothes to wear sometimes. The underpants Hera wears on her head could use some variation from time to time, a clean pair.

Interesting episode, although I think they had a few too many saber fighters, should have just had Maul + gang fighting inqusitors and then the vader fight at the end. The first inquisitor should have been captured using the TIE prototype and being outnumbered 2 to 1 by Kanan and Ashoka. Would have made the two bigger fights a bit more dramatic and not just another fight and it'd have given a little more time (a minute at most) to other stuff.

The helicopter sabers got out of hand, being used so much. Kinda goofy and cool to see it a little bit.

Also, needed more Vader respirator before he had his helmet sliced open, we needed more iconic Vader breathing before the wheezing.

So, the first lines of the trailer, presumably by some Imperial person who is detaining/interviewing Jyn Erso (lead actress) sounds an awful lot like Agent Kallus... Cameo anyone? It'd be really cool if that were the case, although the voice actor for Kallus is black so it'd have to be lipsynching, or someone else impersonating, hence it being the not quite the same voice.
