Cary A little rattled by the near miss with the mole, Cary scans the room, seeing it almost totally cleared. Or... not quite. She leans to the side, spotting a nearby gobbo, and gives it a good arrow, then focuses on the ones farther off. That one just clatters ineffectually. Ah well. Underling 13 has cover (just barely) for +4 AC, 18 for 9, then underling 15 (also cover), 9 miss.

Cary's arrow pierces right through the closer Goblin, killing it. End of Round 4. Goblin Turn: [1] The two newly-arrived Goblins are somewhat more apprehensive about approaching our heroes, and instead move up to the scaffolding and try to pull its leaning frame back. They add 6 THP to the scaffolding. [2] More of their tribesmen arrive on the scene [3] I'm going to need Perception checks from everyone. Go ahead and take your turn though. Move to scaffolding. Punch scaffolding if no attack roll needed then I do 1 physical and 1d6+1 6 fire damage and it would have to make a reflex save or catch fire and continue to burn until but out. If an attack roll is needed to hit it though... 1d20-2 0 Agni can't punch the broad side of a barn, at least unless he gets that feat that lets him use Cha in place of Str for melee attacks, or picks up Finesse or something. Since you made an unarmed attack without Improved Unarmed Strike, the scaffolding takes an Opportunity Attack Just kidding! It's a piece of wood, no attack roll needed. Agni shakes its foundations as it ignites and starts to burn.

Stragen "HEY! HEY, YOU GOBLINS! STOP IT! I GOTTA SAVE THE VILLAGE." Stragen pries his kukri out from the rickety scaffolding, jams it between his teeth, and then grabs a likely looking hunk of timber and uses it like a gymnastic bar to somersault beside the nearer goblin, fending it off with the rapier while he hacks at another strategically placed log. Stragen uses Leaping Dragon, rolling 32 and allowing him to jump 30 feet. Since he only needs to jump 15, let's say he uses the rest of it to flip cinematically around the scaffolding before planting himself one tile south of Goblin Underling 16. Once he's there, he'll full attack, again hitting the goblin with the rapier and the scaffold with the kukri. Stragen gets 16 to hit the goblin, doing 12 damage, and the scaffolding takes 9 slashing damage.

Cary Wow, these goblins are jerks. Also, stupid. Should be running. "Hey so is the tunnel going to collapse if that scaffolding goes down? Are we under the river? What if there's like an important person's house above us?" She fires a quick shot through the now flaming scaffolding, skewering the stupid goblin, and sort of half-heartedly lets another clatter near the far cave. Perception 21, attack goblin 15 with 18 for 11, attack goblin 17 with 10 for 9 (miss if it has cover, which I believe it does).

Fleabag moves up to the only goblin left near the scaffolding. He neatly dispatched it, keeping an eye on the only remaining other goblin. His eyes dart around as he answers Cary's questions. "If it starts to shake, we drop by. If it starts t'rain indoors, we drop by really, really quicksome. If it's somebody's house, we blame the goblins." Attacking goblin 16 with a 24, which is in crit range. Crit confirmed! 9 damage to the goblin gut. Finally, a perception check, getting a measly 13.

Fleabag, will have to ask you to change your turn: Stragen already killed Goblin Underling 16 Map update only after Agni, Stragen and Cary's turns: [1] Stragen kills Goblin Underling 16 with an Acrobatic flourish! Cary: With your high Perception roll, you are able to peer through the darkness of the tunnel and see a much larger figure, about 8 feet tall and bulky, coming towards the party. It'll appear within range by the next round. Looking up at the ceiling, your aquatic instincts tell you that you're just above the river. You can feel the roar of the water and the pressure it's putting the scaffolding under. Stragen Stragen fails to see or really hear anything beyond the sound of cracking wood and splinters flying everywhere. Stragen full attacks the heap of lumber, doing 9-5=4 piercing damage and 13 slashing damage. Surely this was a good idea.

Turns out Halfling Kukris can in fact You now have time for one skill check or action or whatever you want to try to do before the water starts pouring through and you'll have to take Reflex saves to avoid getting hurt by the torrent. Cary is a Merfolk as it turns out so she can swim very well, but the rest of you might not have such a nice time of it without doing something to mitigate or control what happens.

Stragen As the river begins flowing down right beside Stragen, he quickly checks the wreckage for a relatively buoyant-looking chunk of wood. His masterplan - stab his kukri into the timber and use it like a handle to ride the makeshift halfling waveboard into/away from the goblins. Not sure yet. We'll see. If it's a masterplan, I mean.

Okay flooding the area might take out any more goblins but that wouldn't do HIM any good if it gets him killed. Cary Swim 31. Cary smoothly flows into the torrent of water, one eye on the big hulking thing, but then notices pretty much everyone get knocked around and start drowning. Well, that's a bummer. Feeling a little disappointed she won't get to take care of all these goblins, she goes for the party members who've stopped moving. Generally a bad sign. Like kitty! Oh no! Do I need more swim checks to drag people up to the riverbank?

Swim check DC 20 to help one other person, DC 26 to help two, DC 31 to help three, basically preventing them from taking any damage, and you have to tell me how many you're trying for before you make the roll.

Stragen looks like he's doing good. Halflings are good at swimming, right? Kitty and Mr. Fire don't like water, either of them, and they need help. This is a good plan. Swim 29. Worried about Fleabag and Agni, Stragen should still be good with 12 hp, right? ...right? A very good plan. Stragen takes 2 damage [1] as he gets tossed about by the onrushing water. Agni and Fleabag: As the torrent and debris wash over you, everything goes black. You regain consciousness (what feels like) moments later, coughing up water and lying on your backs, staring up at a slowly lightening dawn. Stragen and Cary are standing over you, the Halfling looks quite proud, and the Mer-lady is humming to herself. Turning your head, you see the townsfolk slowly gathering, with Glenda talking animatedly to anyone who'll listen and Cary's yak grunting. Stragen and Cary: I'm telling you that you know for a fact that all of the goblins have drowned and the tunnel has filled-in with water. There's actually a bunch of goblin corpses floating in the water and that's what's got all the townsfolk approaching. What do you say to each other? (and do afterwards?) [1] 1d6+1=2

Cary "I think that worked out pretty well, all things considered. Glenda, could you patch them up? They got pretty banged around by the goblins that we just saved everybody from. And you!" She wriggles over to her yak, cooing at it and stroking around its head, and murmuring to it in her weirdass language. "How've you been? Who's a good yak? Who's a good yak!? Shezhe y'nara, nye bve yak hadha... ohzhozhohh... bve bve bve..." She glances over. "So anyway, I was going to go back down and collect any more, uh, salvage the goblins might've had on them. We've got some floaters but there should be a bunch of stuff still stuck under the caves. Also see how far back the tunnels go, see if there's any caches or tools or whatever back there. Alright?" Assuming no objections, she murmurs one last "bve yak" and wriggles back over to the hole to go loot some corpses.

Stragen Stragen claws himself up out of the muddy sinkhole just in time to see Cary slip back down into the depths. Moments later, he hauls out a large and clearly-not-very-buoyant hunk of timber behind him, his kukri still firmly embedded in the middle. Once he sees a gathering crowd, Stragen shrewdly puts two and two together, the props the soggy log up as a makeshift podium before scrambling on top. "Have no fear, CITIZENS of PAWFORD! The UNFORGETTABLE ADVENTURING COMPANY has *blub*-" Stragen cuts off halfway through to release a small gout of water from his slightly abused guts, then continues as though nothing happened. "-has LIBERATED you from the TYRANNY of the GOBLINOIDS and their DARK ARTS OF...of...TUNNELCATION." He shakes himself off, dog-like, before striking what he hopes is a heroic pose. Stragen's heroic speech, besides being extremely awesome and accurate, might improve peoples' attitudes towards the UNFORGETTABLE ADVENTURING COMPANY with a 17 on a Diplomacy check to see if their attitudes improve.

The townspeople love it. "THREE CHEERS FOR THE UNFORGETTABLE ADVENTURING COMPANY!" They close in on the group and raising them up on their shoulders, even the slightly bewildered Agni. There's a lot of spontaneous fanfare as the people regale over all those goblins you've slain. Cary: You dove into the waters before the townspeople got to you, but instead you do find quite a bit of salvageable treasure from the now-flooded depths of the tunnel. You needed to make more than one trip, but it amounts to 2124 gold all told. Congratulations. You are now all level 2. Please make sure to update your character sheets. Well, now, we got us dealt with a greenie tangle, but that only eases things in the specifics. In the general, I'd expect more follow-up. We fuzzled their map, but I don't know as we got their cartographer, if you catch. He's like to come trottin' up with some deliverymen to do some armwork on this yon sticks, all angrysome." He turns to Stragen. "Muscles, we got us a fine lot of blessin's, but I reckon this bird's not plucked as yet. Might be the covies could use some further armwork from the likes of us.
