I just really don't care for beating poo poo within a time limit. Now something that takes a similar amount of effort and would be more interesting would be to play through the same stages but backwards and upside down. To me that sounds way better than "Beat X:XX Time" because you'll wind up playing the stages over and over again a few times for some of the harder time trials anyways. I spent an unreasonable amount of time trying to get all the gold medals in Sonic Adventure 2 because I wanted to see the goddamn extra stage. Turns out it's lovely and broken, but still.
