I thought book 4 was dull. 1-3 good, 5 also good imo. Haven't watched past season 4 though. Which coincides with the end of book 3.

Gurm treats poop the same way.

It's kind of like how people say LOTR starts boringly - particularly tom bombadil and the Old forest. But on subsequent reads, those sections are completely fine.

Yeah when my friend gave me the book he shot me the old “get past the first hump and you’ll not be able to put it down” and he was right Then when the series came out they glossed over most of it lol

Honestly if the book series just took place in kings landing and only dealt with lannister/king's landing politics and also targeygen politics it would be much more manageable and wouldn't lose much.

george r r martin doesnt know how to write political/court intrigue, so it would still be bad. he should just rip off redwall and write feasts/puzzle

I read the first book years ago so it’s a reread, also it goes really quickly when you know all the characters and get to look at old words with new info (as I have watched the entire series.) it’s good!Anomalous Amalgam posted:Stormlight Archive I read the way of kings and haven’t gotten to 2 or 3 yet. I got so hype about Dark Tower when I was like 13. Burned through the first 4 books. Then Wolves of the Calla happened. Holy poo poo what a nosedive.

I feel you, I just can't believe King took one of his few long-form works that has a reasonable, satisfying arc (and one supplemented well already with Jerusalem's Lot and maybe One for the Road depending on how you like it) and just dragged it on and on and on
