Paracelsus posted:It's closer to the former than the latter. Miia is First Girl and tends to have pride of place in promotional material, but the MC doesn't obviously favor her in the plot like Rosario + Vampire's MC did with Moka. The manga is trying to push the plot along and having the MC determine a specific girl to be with, but it doesn't look like we'll really reach that stage any time soon. The first three probably have the "best" chance but only because they've gotten the most development and attachment to the MC.

Darth Walrus posted:Not really? I mean, the ending blurb states that slimes are unused to human interaction, civilisation, and everything else, but are ludicrously fast learners, and we see that during this episode pretty well. She goes from mindless drinking machine to reasonably smart person (the rescue at the end, and the way it was implied she deliberately let go of Papi's wing once she had somewhere safe to fall to) in twenty minutes of screentime. Two more character eps for her, and she'll probably be on the shortlist for a Nobel. There's a chapter in the manga where they go to a mineral hot springs and Suu's intellect basically shoots up from the minerals. Another chapter has her suck up poisons or something I can't be arsed to check and she basically acts like one of the other slimes in the latest endcard with openly venomous remarks said rather earnestly and innocently.

Cao Ni Ma posted:CW is pretty loving good but you have to take it as a bizarre slice of life show since the tone moves around a lot (like other absurd mangas). And despite its whiplash, the world and its characters are incredibly consistent. Which is a loving feat really given how hosed up the world appears to be once you scratch off the pristine veneer it has on the top. The penalties for even making "racially" charged remarks is like something out of a Conservative nightmare and it's never quite clear whether the author is supportive or parodying the progressive measures that the series depicts. The stories with the young kids is usually 100% adorable though and the more typical SoL stuff is nice. The problem is that I think that the author wants to do a few different types of series but his editor won't let him just drop Centaur's Worries to do so. I am a little disappointed to hear FwPA is dropping the series, but given the evolution of the series, it makes sense.

Kwyndig posted:Honestly I can't imagine a pupiled eye that is at least somewhat spherical from a biomechanics standpoint. In order for the pupil to move, the muscles attached to the eye have to be able to move it in all feasible direction, and a sphere is pretty much perfect for that. I mean, I suppose it could be a semi-flat eye using like an eight way gate design for the musculature, but at that point I can't imagine the eye would be round at that point, because a square is a better shape for something like that. Alternatively, some of the space inside the eyeball might contain the neurons that are normally in the occipital lobes that are part of vision. Everything just gets pushed back. Additionally, since there's only one eye, only one occipital lobe is necessary as each one handles the vision from each eye while another part processes the two images into a single one. That still may not be enough space but it's a start.
