post your favorite hip-hop albums with a description of what it is please don't just post untitled youtube links because i dont know about other people but i never click that poo poo Deltron 3030- Deltron 3030 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7_jbluF0qo (also see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrEdbKwivCI) Futuristic concept album by Del the Funky Homosapien, about a mech soldier who becomes cynical or w.e. about his job and rap battles his way to become the intergalatic rap champion of the universe, good lyracist, interest beats, if you havent listened to this album before it might be something you like if you don't like "typical" hip-hop. Aesop Rock - Labor Days https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sClhmDN5Fcs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWOQHj_o6eo Aesop Rock is the best living lyricist in my opinion, the complexity of his rhymes and vocabulary blow away even other indie or underground rappers, you might disagree with that and that's cool. Labor Days is one of my favorite Aesop albums, he's really good at telling stories through his rhymes, No Regrets is a great example of this. If you like the linked songs also check out Daylight EP, which is also really good. |

I really like Zion I's stuff. They've collaborated with Aesop Rock before, dunno if you've ever heard any of that work. Probably not on his level lyrically but definitely up there. Here's a live performance of my favorite track of thiers, Ride: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ms_S3sd5JzU |

Hopsin - Knock Madness genius...Pure Motherfing genius. sick of all that lame mainstream hip-hop? let's enter the motherfing mind of hopsin. hopsin takes drugs, whores and black people in general down a notch (take THAT byob party-goers) as he spits the most devastating and smartest lyrics ive ever heard in the twelve years ive been alive. sometimes i dream about marrying him https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gzBqayDmJ8 Watsky - Holy poo poo Look At That Cover Art watsky...wow..where do i start? hes a white guy making "real" hip-hop. "genuine" hip-hop. "actual" hip-hop. "super" hip-hop. "mega" hip-hop. "mechacop" hip-hop. "ive never talked to a black person before" hip-hop. definitely listen to this guy if you like other nerdcore masterpieces like The Money Store or Gucci Mane Presents: I'm Iced Out Fam https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzCPGZbE10g Death Grips - Kidz Bop 32 Some unsuspecting Japanese kids were mid-crowd at the start of the show and got loving crushed as the crowd pressed forward all of a sudden. They spend the next 4 songs looking for wallets and keys using a cell phone flashlight while getting violently handed around. I wish we had an MC Ride "YUH!" smiley so I could properly convey how YUH! it was. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQRfHFgz6cM

Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star - Black Star https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rx5aVI2zsFE (also see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8X7m63nPvsQ) Black Star is a collab between Mos Def and Talib Kweli, they're a perfect combo of two great mc's, if you don't know who Talib Kweli is, well I guess that's kind of understandable, but if you don't know who Mos Def you should cut off your own head then listen to his discography. Actually if you haven't listened to Black Star stop reading this and listen to the first link, keep in mind this was written in 1998. A Healthy Distrust - Sage Francis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lk4t8-VLxF4 (from a different album (Personal Journals): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAjNITpvL_Y A Healthy Distrust is the second studio album by Sage Francis, he was signed by Epitaph records after the popularity of Makeshift Patriot (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3spSAvJkm8), which is weird, because Epitaph (is?) was a punk label, anyway he's another good lyracist, very politcal, some of the tracks are less hip-hop (see: Jah didn't kill Johnny), but overall it's definitely worth at least a listen though, ---------------- |
