 What is Ultima Lucha? Ultima Lucha is Lucha Underground's Wrestlemania, its season (and maybe series) finale. It will be aired in two parts, a one-hour show on Wednesday, July 29, and a two-hour extravaganza on Wednesday, July 5. Both shows have great cards that wrap up significant storylines, and they are going to go all-out to finish this season. How can I watch? Ultima Lucha is not a PPV, it is airing for free in the normal places that Lucha Underground does:
You're in luck! Lucha Underground is broadcast with English commentary and even the promos are either in English or subtitled. It's only broadcast in Spanish on Unimas. Your hosts will be Matt Striker and Vampiro. They are much better than when they started, and have good chemistry together. They usually do very concise summaries of the backstory behind matches. I'm also going to do a breakdown of the Ultima Lucha matches, luchadores, and backstory below. I heard that this promotion costs like 20 billion dollars per episode and its already been cancelled. Season 2 is still up in the air. One of the showrunners recently stated that El Rey wants them back but there's still a gap in the funding and they are looking at how they can bridge it -- be it other distributors or networks, merchandise, deals with iTunes or Netflix, whatever -- and once they do, they'll annouce the new season. Most people behind the scenes still seem optimistic, but getting to August and having nothing announced yet is a big concern. The long and short of it is, no one knows for sure yet. Feel free to discuss, but I'd rather not have this thread be entirely gloom and doom about Season 2. Let's at least enjoy what we have while we have it. In Dario we trust.  9/21/15 UPDATE SEASON TWO CONFIRMED FOR 2016 SUCK IT NON-BELIEVERS, more details to come as they become available! 10/14/15 UPDATE: Season 2 is confirmed to start shooting in November, and to start airing in January 2016. They are still shooting at the same location in Boyle Heights, although they could change up the set a bit. According to executive producer/showrunner Eric van Wagenen: "There are still some deals that are pending that we hopefully be able to announce soon that will be big and exciting and probably guarantee us a way for us to stay on the air for a long time. For now, we have a path to do season two and we’ve found some ways to make it cheaper, but not lose quality. We are leaving some options on the table for subsequent seasons and additional episodes to happen next summer." They also are still in negotiations with a video on demand service. MORE DETAILS AS THEY BECOME AVAILABLE Why should I watch Lucha Underground?    Lucha Underground has incredible performers doing crazy poo poo in front of a hot crowd. There's lots of exciting high spots and violence. Despite having some bizarre characters, the stories are generally grounded, consistent, simple, and make emotional sense, sometimes over a very long story arc. Lucha Underground doesn't try to copy the WWE style and presentation like every other promotion. While WWE attempts to mimic the presentation of an actual sporting event like a boxing or MMA match, LU has acknowledged that it is a television show about a fictional wrestling promotion. Backstage segments are filmed in television or movie style, with multiple cameras and the idea that we are seeing this just as the omnipresent viewer and not because a cameraman is right up in the wrestlers' faces. Because of this, we get to see all the seedy backroom deals and/or murders without it being out of character. The production values are extremely high, with the matches shot by eight cameras at a time and expertly edited. There is a live band, and the crowds are always going nuts, and wrestlers will do flippy poo poo off of high objects and they have the best ring announcer in the business. Who runs this poo poo?  Meet Dario Cueto. Dario is the owner of Lucha Underground. He is a slimeball who gets his way by throwing money around. Although he is definitely a heel, his main interests regarding the show usually boil down to promoting good matches and competition, and so he's not as annoying as some other (ahem) Authority figures. In fact, many of the Believers in the Temple cheer him and call him El Jefe because he always gives them what they want: the violence. He has a brother who is some kind of monster chained up in the basement. Dario has already fed one wrestler to his brother. He also has a pretty lady who has vowed to kill his brother chained up down there, since Chavo double-crossed her and turned her over to Dario. No, I didn't make any of that up. Believers? Temple? The Temple is where Lucha Underground is held -- a dirty, hot, run-down warehouse in Boyle Heights, East Los Angeles, full of sharp edges and rust. The fans are often called the Believers, which is kind of dumb, but maybe better than being called a Universe. How about some highlights? ULTIMA LUCHA WEEK 1: THE CARD (EDIT) THESE MATCHES ALREADY OCCURRED ON JULY 29 - SEE NEXT POST FOR THE AUGUST TWO HOUR CARD--- Bryan Cage versus The Mack (Falls Count Anywhere)  THE MACK (aka Willie Mack) was brought into Lucha Underground by his old running buddy/gang lord/eyepatch-wearing cigar-smoking badass Big Ryck. However, he was quickly cut loose by Big Ryck because Big Ryck is a jerk. The Mack doesn't have a lot of deep backstory in Lucha Underground, but he's a fun performer who has some great moves in the ring. Likes: Good times, afro picks, doing crazy poo poo his fat dad bod should not be able to pull off Dislikes: Brian Cage  BRIAN CAGE is a big ball of muscles. He bullied his way into a title match immediately after entering Lucha Underground, tearing the lovely old Lucha Underground title in half in the process. However, Cage has been unable to win the big one, in part because of his impulsive nature and disregard for the rules. He is basically a Brock Lesnar without a Paul Heyman to keep him in check. Likes: Rage, bicep curls Dislikes: Waiting his turn Backstory of the Match:  The Mack was supposed to be part of the Trios Tag Tournament with his old running buddies Big Ryck and Killshot. Cage barged in and beat the poo poo out of Mack, causing Big Ryck to cast Mack aside and team up with Cage instead. Cage and The Mack have been rivals ever since. Recently, Mack has been able to pull off some wins against Cage, including an embarassingly quick fluke three-count via sunset flip last week. Cage reacted to this as Cage does, brawling with Mack outside the ring, up into the stands, both of them tossing security guys aside like matchsticks. Dario Cueto interrupted, since he does not like giving fights away for free, and said they would settle this his way. Dario would litter the ringside area with anything he could find, and two could beat the hell out of each other in a Falls Count Anywhere match at Ultima Lucha. How will this match be? Both of these guys are very good performers, and they should have a lot of fun with an foreign-object heavy brawl. --- Son of Havoc, Ivelisse, and Angelico(c) v. the Disciples of Death (Trios Title Match)  TEAM DISFUNCTION: There's a long story here which isn't super-important, so feel free to skip to the match backstory below -- but it is a good story arc. Son of Havoc and Ivelisse initially started in Lucha Underground as a couple, with Ivelisse serving as Havoc's manager while also wrestling her own matches. Havoc was a henpecked boyfriend, with Ivelisse grabbing him by the beard and ordering him around. Havoc wasn't doing very well, and eventually it got to a point where Ivelisse declared she was sick of Havoc being such a loser, and she would now fight his matches for him. Enter Angelico. Angelico is your older brother's douchebag friend who is way into BMX and hitting on everyone's girlfriend. Some of Ivelisse's first matches after she took over for Havoc were against Angelico, who proceeded to flirt with Ivelisse and do whatever suggestive things he could think of during the match, both to screw with Ivelisse and Havoc, and also because he is a creeper. His mindgames worked for awhile, even causing Havoc as guest referee to count a relatively quick pin on Ivelisse just to get her out of the ring and away from Angelico. (For what it's worth, Ivie was having none of it, either.) However, all of this eventually caused Havoc to snap, demanding a match against Angelico, breaking up with Ivelisse in the middle of the match, and pinning Angelico in decisive fashion. Angelico attempted to get with Ivelisse after the match since she had been dumped, and got kicked in the face for his efforts.  Since Dario Cueto is a hilarious dick, he immediately put the three of them together as a team during a multi-week tournament for the new Trios Tag Titles. In spite of themselves, they won matches all the way up to the finals, even with Ivelisse walking out on them in the middle of a match at one point. On the final week of the tournament, they thought they had won the last match and obtained the titles, when Dario Cueto announced they still had to beat his hand-picked favorite team of The Crew in a no-disqualification match. Exhausted, injured (Ivelisse actually shoot broke her ankle during the finals match), and set upon by vicious thugs armed with weapons, they still refused to back down. Having come this far, they finally came together as a team, with one of the most stirring victories I've ever seen in a wrestling match: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRWZbLrGJIo Seriously, go watch this now (if you want, you can skip to 6 minutes in for the really big comeback). They're still not the best of friends, and there's some unresolved love triangle tensions floating around. But, they have successfully defended the titles on multiple occasions, including a ladder match, even though they have been at a significant disadvantage with Ivelisse on crutches. Likes: Each other Dislikes: Each other  THE DISCIPLES OF DEATH: To really explain the Disciples, you need to know about Mil Muertes. I'll go into Muertes in more detail for Ultima Lucha Week 2, but for now, consider him Lucha Underground's version of the Undertaker. His manager/teleporting ghost(?) witch(?) Catrina betrayed him and had him killed just so she could raise him from the dead, more powerful than before. When Muertes leveled up in the afterlife, he brought back these three creepy skeleton men with him. They don't have a lot of individual personalities aside from being murderous avatars for Muertes and Catrina. Likes: Gold, death, Catrina Dislikes: The living Backstory of the Match:  Since Mil Muertes' resurrection, Catrina and Muertes are on a quest to get all the gold and all the power. Death is coming for everyone. A couple weeks ago, Catrina interrupted the Trios Champions while they were training backstage and teleported in the Disciples to attack them. Subsequently, Mil Muertes fought and beat Son of Havoc while Catrina and the Disciples roughed up Angelico and Ivelisse at ringside. How will this match be? It's basically a handicap match because Ivelisse is still in a cast. But you can count on Son of Havoc to do cool poo poo and Angelico to basically kill himself. -- Drago v. Hernandez (Believer's Backlash)  DRAGO is literally a dragon. Likes: Gold, hanging out in the bathroom where it is moist, fire Dislikes: Big cocky lunkheaded jerks  HERNANDEZ is a big cocky lunkheaded jerk. He was brought in by Konnan, who manages the current champion Prince Puma, to watch Puma's back. He promptly turned on Puma within like a week, and proceeded to make enemies of just about everyone on the roster in one way or another. Likes: Leather belts, himself, throwing people down on their necks Dislikes: Dragons, contracts Backstory of the Match: Drago got a title shot after he beat Aerostar in a best of five match. However, the "unique opportunity" came with a special stipulation: if he lost, he would be banished from the Temple FOREVEERRRRRRRRRR. He lost, burst into flame, and flew away. Because he is literally a dragon. Some weeks later, Dario announced that anyone who had previously faced Puma for the title could be in a multi-man match for a title shot. Drago, who had been hanging out on the roof easedropping since his banishment was all "Loophole, you said anyone, I'm in!" Dario said no, but Drago got all up in his face like "LET ME FIIIIIIIIIIIGHT" and Dario said okay, but that if Drago lost not only would he be re-banished, he would have to unmask. Unmasking for Drago may be actually tearing his face off, but he was still in. He won and became the number one contender. Meanwhile, Hernandez is a big cocky lunkheaded jerk who everyone hates. Hernandez was pissed because he was one of the people Drago beat on his return. Hernandez proceeded to interfere with Drago as much as possible, at one point even stealing a leather belt off one of the fans to beat Drago with.   Hernandez has also berated the crowd for being so stupid, insisting that dragons aren't real. When everyone clearly knows that dragons are real, I mean, there's one right there. Drago had to defend his number one contender's spot against Mil Muertes (for Catrina-related reasons that we may get into next week), and before that match Hernandez again assaulted him and choked him with a belt. Drago still went forward with the match, but lost to Mil Muertes, setting up Muertes versus Puma for the title at Ultima Lucha. After his loss to Muertes, Drago was originally slated to face Hernandez in a normal match at Ultima Lucha to settle their beef. However, the fans blew up Dario's Twitter with how much they hated Hernandez and wanted Hernandez to die, just loving die already. Dario, who gives the fans what they want, decided to arm a number of the fans with leather belts and let them be at ringside for Believer's Backlash, a fan strap lumberjack match. I was one of the fans who got to be ringside for this. How will this match be? It's gimmicky, and I hope it comes across cool on TV. At the very least, you will get to see a group of untrained marks with real-rear end leather belts set loose at ringside. If you do not like Hernandez, this match may be your jam.

ULTIMA LUCHA WEEK 2: THE CARD (I'm not entirely sure what order these are going to run in) --- Blue Demon Jr. v Texano (No Disqualification)  BLUE DEMON JR is a lucha legend. He's been wrestling for 30 years, and is the adopted son of the original Blue Demon. His real name is unknown. I poo poo you not, his Wikipedia page says that no one knows this guy's real name. That's how old school he is.  TEXANO dresses like a Village People cowboy and uses a whip. He held the AAA Mega Championship for a long time, and when Alberto El Patron took it from him and came to Lucha Underground, Texano followed. He spent a little while feuding with Alberto but they've reached an uneasy truce while they deal with other problems. Backstory of the Match:  This backstory is kind of a mess because this is really an angle about Chavo Guerrero Jr., but he got sidelined by injury. I actually had to go back and review a couple segments to make sure I understood how this all shook out. So, all season long, Chavo has been in a war with "Mexico." It's kind of unclear whether "Mexico" means a particular lucha family, or a gang, or the whole drat nation, but there's been this constant subtext with Chavo of "Mexico is coming" and he needs protection from Mexico, and when he quit for awhile he said that Mexico got what they wanted. Now, if there has been a personification of Mexico this season, it's been Blue Demon Jr., and Chavo and Demon have been feuding since day one. Chavo usually wins these fights because he is a Guerrero and he uses chairs, brass knuckles, or whatever other method of cheating he can find, but there's been a sense that eventually Blue Demon Jr would catch him in a clean fight and wreck him. A couple weeks back, Chavo got a title shot versus Puma because he captured Black Lotus for Dario. Chavo also picked up the Crew to help him, a couple of street thugs who used to be affiliated with Big Ryck (and who used to be three people but one got eaten by Dario's monster brother -- long story). Halfway through the match against Puma, Chavo went down with a legit hamstring injury and the Crew hit the ring to beat up on Puma. Konnan, Puma's manager, wasn't allowed to interfere in the match by order of Dario, but he gestured wildly for help, and Texano came out to fight off the Crew and make the save. Post match Texano said "Hey, Chavito. Guess what? Mexico not coming for you. Mexico is right here, perro!" After that, Demon came after Chavo in the locker room, but said he wouldn't attack a hurt man. Chavo taunted him and said it looked like Texano was Mexico now, and Demon is just "some has-been who lives in Miami." Demon freaked out and slammed Chavo into the lockers. So the next week, Texano came out and said he didn't care if Chavo was injured, he wanted him at Ultima Lucha. The Crew hit the ring to attack Texano. Blue Demon came out looking like he was going to make the save, but then in the least surprising swerve of all time after the locker room segment with Chavo, joined in the beat down on Texano. So, Demon is pissed because he thinks Texano is trying to take his position as representing Mexico, and is going to prove himself at Ultima Lucha. How will this match be? Meh? That was a lot of write-up for the match I'm least excited about. Demon is nearly 50, and he hasn't really done anything exciting in the ring this season. This match is relatively heatless since Texano is an obvious hotshot stand-in for the injured Chavo, which was the real feud built up all year. But, Texano is capable of great matches. And with Demon working rudo in a no-DQ match, he should be able to hide his age a little better. With it being no-DQ and the Crew hooked up with Demon, I also wouldn't write off the possibility of outside interference. I don't have super-high expectations for this one, I think this is more a nostalgia piece to have Demon on the show than anything else. --- Pentagon Jr. v. Vampiro (Cero Miedo Match)  PENTAGON JR. is a skeletal ninja. His catchphrase is "Cero Miedo," meaning No Fear. He likes to break bones.  VAMPIRO is the color commentator for Lucha Underground. Before he was a commentator, he wrestled for many promotions, including WCW, CMLL, and AAA since as early as 1985. Although typically jolly and something of a mark on commentary, references are often made to the more evil places his mind was at during his wrestling days. Backstory of the Match:   Throughout the season, Pentagon Jr. has been breaking competitors' arms after beating them in matches, dedicating those broken bones as "sacrifices to his Dark Master." Sexy Star was a thorn in his side for some time, thwarting him on several occasions, including when he tried to sacrifice Melissa Santos the ring announcer. Pentagon beat Sexy Star in a submission match to cap off their feud. After the match, Pentagon tried to sacrifice Sexy Star's arm to his Master. Vampiro, who is Sexy Star's friend, exclaimed that he couldn't take it. Vampiro rushed the ring and shoulder tackled Pentagon away from Sexy Star. Subsequently, he apologized for his unprofessionalism in leaving the announce desk and getting involved. But this interference caught the eye of Pentagon Jr. Pentagon now declared that his next sacrifice would be Vampiro, or more specifically, Ian Hodgkinson (Vampiro's real name, which Pentagon seems to be using to imply that Vampiro has now become just another ordinary guy). Vampiro declined to fight Pentagon at first, causing Pentagon to kick him in the head from behind while he was seated at the announce desk, pour gasoline all over him, and threaten to light him on fire in front of the whole world. The following week, "Ian Hodgkinson" declared that the man who would face Pentagon Jr. at Ultima Lucha was VAMPIRROOOOOO, followed by a thundering chokeslam. How will this match be? Probably better than you might expect, there's a lot of hype surrounding this one. There's a question whether Vampiro could still go in a real match, but this is likely to be more of a hardcore bloodbath, and there's no question that Vamp has the passion to do whatever it takes. -- Alberto El Patron v. Johnny Mundo  ALBERTO EL PATRON was formerly known as Alberto Del Rio in the WWE (but you already knew that). Alberto is lucha royalty, the son of Dos Caras and the nephew of Mil Mascaras. He is a six time world-champion in WWE, CMLL, and AAA, and is the current holder of the AAA Mega Championship. El Patron left the WWE after someone backstage allegedly made some racist remarks to him and he allegedly smacked the living poo poo out them. He's gained a lot of new passion and fire since coming to Lucha Underground.  JOHNNY MUNDO was formerly in the WWE as Johnny Nitro or John Morrison. Mundo is a cocky Johnny Cage-ish figure in Lucha Underground, a Hollywood type who is full of himself, but definitely has the moves to back it up. Backstory of the Match:   Mundo considered himself the "face of Ultima Lucha," and for good reason -- he's been here since day one, and was one of the most popular luchadores on the roster. However, there was immediate friction with Alberto El Patron, who came in mid-season. Johnny was jealous of all the attention Alberto got when he arrived, and felt that Alberto was being unfairly given opportunities without earning them first just because of his reputation. All this came to a head when Alberto faced Hernandez for a number-one contender's spot. Halfway through the match, Mundo came out and put El Patron through the window of Dario Cueto's office, leading to Alberto losing the match and being out for several weeks. Impressed by Johnny's new found brutality, Dario gave Johnny a title shot in an hour-long Ironman match against Puma. Up 4-3 and with time running short, Mundo utilized the unique strategy of just running the gently caress away from Puma. That strategy was cut short by Alberto's return. Alberto caught Mundo at the top of the stairs and kicked him back down, following that up with a DDT outside the ring. Puma would go on to win the match. (If you haven't watched that Ironman match, dubbed "All Night Long," you probably should). Now they will settle their differences at Ultima Lucha. How will this match be? Take it for what you will, but both Johnny and Alberto have both said in shoot interviews that this is one of their favorite matches of their careers. -- Bengala vs. King Cuerno vs. Sexy Star vs. Big Ryck vs. Jack Evans vs. Fenix vs. Aerostar (Gift of the Gods Title Match)  BENGALA is big soft ol' kitty man. D'awwww. He came in late in the season and hasn't been in too many matches, but he has some cool moves. And is a big ol' kitty. Who's a good kitty? Who is him? Bengala, probably.  KING CUERNO is a hunter. Which may not bode well for the kitty man. Cuerno is methodical, and cunning. He stalks his prey with ruthless efficiency. He's kind of a tweener -- he's mostly played as a rudo, but the crowd loves him because he's awesome.  SEXY STAR is a role model for little luchadoras everywhere. Coming from an abusive background, Sexy vowed never to be helpless again. She is a fearless warrior, and even though she is often at a size disadvantage competing against the men, she never backs down from a fight.  BIG RYCK came in as the leader of the Crew. He is a cigar-smoking warlord. He was originally paid by Dario to take out Mundo, but then after he failed and became uncontrollable, Dario paid off the Crew to take Ryck out. Big Ryck came back with a eyepatch and beat up the Crew. Then he got paid by Daivari to beat people up for a bit. Then Dario got tired of Big Ryck sucking and paid him to break off from Daivari. For a guy who doesn't win that often, Big Ryck sure gets paid.  JACK EVANS has the arrogance to say he is the "inventor of lucha libre," a questionable claim since he was born in Fountain Valley, California. However, he's been wrestling for 15 years and still does some of the craziest poo poo you'll ever see in the ring so...maybe he is.  FENIX is the man who cannot die. He spent a lot of this season involved in the Mil Muertes arc (see the backstory on Puma/Muertes below for more on that). Even if he isn't the largest guy in a fight, his ability to rise from the ashes and survive a beating makes him very dangerous.  AEROSTAR has a unique offensive style that involves trust-falling from a thousand feet up and praying he lands on something, or someone, soft. Backstory of the Match:  For some time now, Dario Cueto has had the luchadores in the Temple competing for seven mysterious Aztec Medallions, which he claimed would grant the holder immense power. The week before Ultima Lucha, Dario explained that the Medallions all combine into the Gift of the Gods belt, a belt which did indeed have immense power: the ability to request a title shot at any time. It's not a Money in the Bank briefcase, you can't just "cash it in" whenever you want, as Dario is a promoter first and foremost. The title shot must be requested on at least a week's notice, so Dario can advertise his title match. Also, if you hold on to the completed Gift of the Gods for too long, you may have to defend it, like any other title. Once the Gift of the Gods is used, the Medallions are removed, and are redistributed for luchadores to compete over again. Most of the luchadores in the match won their medallions in normal competition. Big Ryck was simply given his by Dario, because he was tired of seeing one of his star attractions lounging in the background. Fenix won his awhile back, but then was demolished by Mil Muertes, and had it stripped from him by Dario when he was dead. He subsequently had to win it back again just before Ultima Lucha in a battle royale. How will this match be? There's a ton of great wrestlers here. With this many people, it's likely to be a spot-fest, but it should be high energy, fast paced, and fun. -- Prince Puma(c) v. Mil Muertes (Lucha Underground Championship Match)  PRINCE PUMA (also known as Ricochet when he fights unmasked in other promotions) is one of best high-fliers in the world today. Aztec warrior blood pumps in Puma's veins, and he is managed and trained by the wily Konnan. Puma has been with Lucha Underground since the first episode, which he main-evented against Mundo. He was the first man to win the Lucha Underground Title, overcoming 20 other wrestlers in the Aztec Warfare match. He has held it ever since. Puma isn't exactly John Cena, though. He has overcome everyone who challenged him from the title, but has often had help, be it from Konnan, or other wrestlers including Hernandez and El Patron -- even when he didn't ask for or want help. So there's always been a lingering question of whether Puma can stand on his own.  MIL MUERTES: On September 19, 1985, an 8.1 magnitude earthquake shocked Mexico City. Thousands of lives were lost that day. A child named Pascual Mendoza was buried alive in the rubble, his entire family killed in the quake. A seven-year old, trapped in the darkness for days, thinking death was coming. But he didn't feel fear. He felt comfort. Being at the brink of death is where he belongs. And when he finally emerged, he brought all that death with him. After rising from the ruins, he became Mil Muertes. Mil Muertes is managed by Catrina, who at the very least has the power to teleport and be picked up by the neck without it bothering her much. Catrina keeps a piece of the rubble that buried Muertes, and it has great power over him. Early this season, Mil showed signs of being almost human, losing matches and showing emotion toward Catrina, such as being distracted and upset when an accidental kick from Mundo took her out, which caused him to lose at Aztec Warfare. Catrina seemingly betrayed him, enlisting Fenix (the force of life) to oppose him. Fenix would eventually face Mil Muertes in a coffin match called Grave Consequences, which you can watch on El Rey's official Youtube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Icvizxc3UB0 Fenix won, and Mil Muertes was sealed in a coffin by Catrina.  But this all proved to be part of Catrina's plan to help Mil Muertes. Having him killed by the force of life only allowed her to resurrect him as an even more unstoppable monster. He came back, with Catrina at his side, to face Fenix in a Death Match. He destroyed Fenix in decisive fashion. Since that time, Mil Muertes has been unstoppable. Backstory of the Match:    After Mil Muertes' resurrection, Catrina became upset that everyone other than Mil seemed to be getting chances at the title. Drago held the number one contender's spot, but Catrina convinced Dario to make Drago defend that against Mil. Catrina can be very persuasive. See the first gif above. Before his defense of the contender's spot, Drago was attacked by Hernandez. Mil Muertes defeated Drago fairly easily to win the title shot at Ultima Lucha. With this opportunity in hand, Mil and Katrina had the Disciples of Death attack Puma in the ring, and when Konnan stepped in to help, Mil took out Konnan with a shot from Konnan's steel pimp cane. Catrina then took Konnan away in a coffin. The week before Ultima Lucha, Puma came out to address the situation, but was interrupted by Mil Muertes and Catrina. The Disciples again snuck in to attack Puma, but he defeated them all with lightning speed. Mil rushed the ring, but Puma proved too quick, taking him out with a series of kicks and his signature 630 splash. Throughout this, Catrina only watched with a smirk. She didn't raise her magic stone, which typically would reinvigorate Mil and the Disciples. Instead, she seemed to be saving her power for the final match of this season, the championship, at Ultima Lucha. How will this match be? I'll do the reddit AMA thing recap: I am Son of Havoc from LUCHA UNDERGROUND on El Rey Network. AMA!  Q: How was your relation with Ivelisse on tough enough and how has it changed now you're a team with her and Angelico? A: My relationship with Ivelisse has been really interesting. We've both been around for quite some time and in a way, our careers parallel one another. We met on the indy circuit pre-Tough Enough and it was really exciting to have a friendly face on set of that show. We got pretty close over those days because its a somewhat traumatic experience and really forces people together. For one reason or another we've been overlooked in the past and are both just ecstatic to have such an awesome home in Lucha Underground. We're two people, passionate about professional wrestling, and it's pretty awesome to be living our dream out together....now if she'd just be a little quieter Q: What is the most memorable moment in your career? A: I'm very luck that my 14 years in professional wrestling have taken me all over the world. Touring Australia with Hulk Hogan was an extremely memorable 2 weeks, being on the Ultimate Warrior's last show ever in Barcelona, Spain..and wrestling in front of 16,000 people that night also jumps out at me. I've had 13 matches against Ultimo Dragon, rode a crappy little razor scooter down a parking garage with RVD in Ireland...pro Wrestling has been a wild ride and it's difficult to single out any one moment to define my time in it thus far. I've embraced the journey and can't wait to see what the future holds! Q: What daily habits/routines do you have and how have they added to your success? A: This is a great question because I'm often asked for advice by people wanting the "secret", or easy way, to success. I feel that hard work can't be denied forever and you have to be disciplined, focused, and passionate. I hit the gym at least 5 days a week. I don't post about it, I don't brag about it, I don't tweet about it, and I don't have my phone on me when I'm there. I'm there to do a job, and that job is kill myself for something I love. I can't tell you how many Friday night's I've spent alone at a gym repeating to myself after every single rep, "I'm a professional wrestler, I'm a professional wrestler, I'm a...." I'm reading my body for the abuse it takes (and dishes out) and aware that the higher your aspirations, the more aesthetics come into play. I also eat 30 grams of quality protein, roughly 30 grams of complex carbs, and 10 grams of good fats every 2 and a half hours....no excuses. This is my dream. I will make it happen. Q: Who is your favourite wrestler of all time? A: Dynamite Kid. So ahead of his time it's insane. I hope I bring even a touch of that intensity, style, out of the box thinking, and unorthodox maneuvers with me to the ring. Q: Who at Lucha Underground would you like to have a match with that you haven't had one with yet? A: That's easy, the champ, Prince Puma. When I started with Lucha Underground a lot of people thought I was a joke. I made opportunities when they weren't there, scratched, clawed, and let my passion for this business shine through. People can see through fake, and when they caught on that I was a guy leaving it all in the ring every single time, the support came in droves. I believe my rise to prominence in this first season of Lucha Underground has been unprecedented and a match against the champ would cement that memorable climb, and all the blood, sweat, and tears I've poured into this. I loved being the first professional wrestler to ever attempt the course and really took it upon myself to show that we're real, legitimate athletes. A: I haven't touched a razor in 3 years: Step 1: Throw away razor Step 2: Wait Step 3: Soak in the real ultimate power!! Q: How the hell did you come up with "MDogg20?" A: In high school, some friends and I got really into breakdancing. With my Gymnastics background, it seemed to come naturally to me. When I first started wrestling I called myself the 18th Amendment (Prohibition) because I was, and am, Straight Edge. My buddy decided to call himself "Josh Prohibition" and we were always feuding. I thought to myself, "so, we're presenting to the people, The 18th Amendment (Prohibition) vs. Josh Prohibition...nobody is gonna care! (or be able to relate for that matter!)". To make things more interesting, I decided to take my breakdancing skills/persona and apply it to my wrestling....I didn't however, think of a name, haha. The ring announcer, at my first show asked me, "what's your name"....I panicked, and said "MDogg20"...I guess 18 year old me thought it sounded cool. The best explanation every given to me was that I'm following in the footsteps of the 19 great MDogg's before me. Abraham Lincoln for example....MDogg3...little known fact. Q: What do you enjoy doing on your down time? & what music do you enjoy? A: Thanks! Ironically enough, those two questions are quite intertwined for me. I'm a punk rocker through and through and most of my free time is devoted to my passion for music. I love going to shows, picking up punk rock shirts, discovering new bands, having bands crash at my place, etc. I saw the Ramones and the Sex Pistols both in 1996 and never looked back. To me, professional wrestling is my punk rock, and it enables me to stick to my ideals and live the DIY lifestyle I've always wanted to live. Q: Describe your short tenure at WWE with 5 words? A: I've never been in WWE. (nailed it!) Q: How was your experience working with Steve Austin and others on tough enough? Are you still in touch with them? A: Steve Austin was, is, and most likely always will be a stand up guy. He cares deeply about this business and respects the grind. He reached out to me post Tough Enough (easily the biggest perk of being a part of the program) and has been extremely personable and helpful. He hand delivered my stuff to WWE when he obviously didn't need to and attached his name to me which is an insane honor. I'm grateful to still be in touch with him and hoping to get on his podcast sooner than later! Being on the phone with him is admittedly hilarious because if/when he says "what", you can't help but chuckle. It's awesome he's a fan of Lucha Underground too! Q: What is your favorite match you were in so far in Lucha Underground? A: Winning the Trios Titles Tournament was pretty incredible. They had to edit it out due to time constraints, but our celebration was literally 10 minutes long. Ten straight minutes of pure (and I must note mutual) appreciation from rabid fans. Professional wrestling, at its best is about creating moments, from the feedback I've received from that match, I think we created just such a moment. It was amazing to get messages from people around the world saying they'd been brought to tears over the match. It was the culmination of literally years of hard work, long drives, hospital stays, and hope. Q: You've been wrestling a good while. How are you holding up? A: Feeling good! Eating right, exercising regularly, I'm literally fired up with how well I feel right now. Lucha Underground has lit a fire of motivation under me and I'm excited to continue to press on forever onward and upward! Q: How much ya bench? A: 325...on a bad day Q: Prior to LU did you have any experience with the lucha style? If not, how steep was the learning curve? A: My first trip to Mexico City (specifically for professional wrestling) was in 2003 so I'm no stranger to the Lucha game. That said, it's an absolute honor to be working alongside living Lucha legends like Konnan, Alberto El Patron, Blue Demon Jr, and all the talented AAA men and women. It's both creatively, and professionally rewarding. Q: I'm a wrestler in training myself, and my dream is to do a Shooting Star Press, but It's so scary. Can you explain the feeling before and after when you completed the shooting star press for the first time? A: The Shooting Star Press is insane, your body is doing a backflip while traveling forward. It's counter-intuitive, unnatural, dangerous, and AWESOME. If I didn't have an 11 year background in high level competitive Gymnastics I wouldn't have ever even dreamed of it, haha. Q: How were you pitched to sign on with Lucha Underground? A: I got an exciting call from one of Mark Burnett's people explaining that I'd been put on a "dream list" of talent for a potential television show. Names like John Morrison were being considered so I knew it had legitimacy right from the start. They were interested in guys who had an understanding and respect for Lucha Libre. The show was pitched to me, and of course, sounded way too good to be true, haha. Fast forward a year and every promise I've been made has been kept and then some. Lucha Underground is far and away the best thing I've ever been a part of. The perfect showcase for what I bring to the table. Q: Will there be a 2nd season of Lucha Underground? A: All hands are on deck to ensure that the best hour in professional wrestling returns. Q: Your beard vs Daniel Bryan's. Whose facial hair wins? Lucha Underground rules and has become my favourite wrestling promotion, I'm hoping they reveal who Dario's brother is at ultima Lucha. Mainly because I fear there may not be a second season, saying that Johnny Mundo seemed positive there would be on Stone Colds podcast.

I'm so loving stoked for Última Lucha. Lucha Underground clearly won the Wednesday Night War in my heart and I'm excited to see all the stories come to a close. I'm also excited to see a goon beat the poo poo out of Hernandez. If only we could all live that dream. There had drat well better be a second season because all of the storylines are coming together to bring a potentially dark future for the Temple and I don't want things to end on such a crushing note.

Trying to figure out what we should do in regards to spoilery posts in this thread while it is airing. I know some folks might be watching at 5 Pacific (I will be), some at 8 Pacific, and some at various times in between due to delays on certain streaming sites. Maybe feel free to post "HOLY loving poo poo" or some variation, but try not to get too explicit about finishes until after the late showing? Or just say gently caress it, and everything is fair game once the first showing is happening? I don't want to chase anyone out.
