The thing about the schoolyard rumor thing is that lots of Japanese games at and before that time period were designed to encourage that kind of rumormilling. It's just that lots of them were adventure games and/or didn't come west. So DW1 isn't particularly unique in that regard. The Retro Game Challenge games do a pretty good job of calling back to this, actually. Particularly in the (surprise) adventure game segment (which we didn't get to in our stream, unfortunately).

I fixed the audio for DW2 and reuploaded it. Here's the new and improved version! With bonus cosplay as an apology. Episode 6.5 - Digimon World 2 I'll also go back and fix my old link and have AP update the OP ASAP.
