In Episode 1 Part 4 they're all like "IT'S BEHIND SOME GATE" and that's total bullshit. Between Evidence 1 and 3 there is no sign of a loving corpse with intel on it. Sorry for no video last week, that just means we couldn't get together for recording. Hopefully we will do so tonight. Anyway someone pointed out this to me and I've been giggling at it for a little bit so I hope you all will to in anticipation for the joys of the final game.

Cause of death: LOOOOOOGANNNNNN!!

I will say one thing. If you recall the trainee we abused in Dark Mirror (Awh no not putting my head inside of the garbage disposal), he makes a return for the new training segment on the game's swimming mechanic.

And, well, we also have a new melee option. We are going to take away whatever dignity the poor kid had left. Can you believe that?

Update 29 - Logan's War Crimes

Syphon Filter Logan's Shadow Episode 1 - Indian Ocean 1
Syphon Filter Logan's Shadow - Logan's Uncut Warcrimes
Gabe is back in the final installment of Syphon Filter. Given a job by NIOC Director Robert Cordell to secure a US Naval Supply Ship carrying something only he knows about for some reason. On the scene, Gabe does what he does best: commit War Crime after War Crime in his search for answers and blood.

I'm semi blind to the game. I played through some levels, skipped all the cutscenes, so when I go to record, it's always a treat to find new things, meet new people and kill them violently, you get the idea. That's all Gabe does this for anymore I'm sure.

Logan's Shadow Evidence posted:

Ep1-1
Evidence #1
Pirate body. The dead pirate was part of the Warsingala Protectors clan. Part of the first wave of men to board the St. Helens, he was probably one of the first to die. Equipped with a small caliber pistol, he didn’t stand much of a chance against the ship’s crew. But this was a numbers game; a battle of attrition. The Warsingala kept sending men until they eventually overtook the St. Helens crew. This doesn’t fit the typical pirate M.O. They attack for money, and money’s no good if you’re not alive to spend it. –Gabe Logan

Evidence #2
CIWS debris. On our approach, the St. Helens’ defensive systems tried shooting Alima and I out of the sky. I managed to destroy the systems so we could land. It takes a year to train crews how to operate these guns and how to discern between friendly and hostile aircraft. The crew working the radar stations knew who we were, and they chose to fire on us anyway. If it weren’t for Alima’s piloting skills, this chunk of steel would have been from our helicopter. –Gabe Logan

Evidence #3
Dog-tag. I expect Cordell to lie or withhold sensitive information from me. He doesn’t trust anyone. That’s how he is. So I wasn’t surprised to find Special Ops already onboard. But I never expected to find an entire Spec Ops team killed by a group of rag-tag Warsingala pirates. Special Ops has the best training, resources, and intelligence in the world. They’re more likely to die from friendly fire, drowning, or helicopter crashes than the enemy’s hand. I guess Cordell didn’t give them all the facts either. –Gabe Logan

Ep1-2
Evidence #4
Ceremonial engraving. This engraved monument described the Mt. St. Helens duty in the US Navy. By all outward and declared purposes, she was just a simple ammunition supply ship. Navy supply ships always travel within the safety of larger fleets, flanked and protected by the offensive ships they are there to re-supply. But the St. Helens had been travelling treacherous Indian Ocean waters alone, and she paid the price. The US Navy names all their ammunition supply ships after famous mountains. I hope this one doesn’t live up to its name. –Gabe Logan

Evidence #5
SMAW. The Warsingala used American weapons to shoot down Alima’s helicopter. Some of the most valuable contraband on international black markets, SMAW’s are terrorist favorites for the very fact they can destroy large aircraft with a single lucky shot. They’re still looting the St. Helens, and packing their own cargo holds full of more SMAWs. And these could easily be sold and used to bring down a commercial airliner. Cordell wants me to secure hold five, but I’m going to see that the Warsingala’s lucky streak ends right now. –Gabe Logan

Evidence #6
Necklace. Alima wasn’t the corpse burning inside the helicopter. The charred remains weren’t the strong-willed and heroic friend I worked with for years. Her office, hangar, and helicopter were always free of clutter and personal belongings. Habits formed from sergeant inspections during boot camp. The unicorn necklace was the only exception. It was clearly precious to her. In her homeland, it is a charm, a symbol of luck. I thought I had lost Alima once before, when a helicopter carrying Alima and Stone went down in Belarus. This time her luck ran out. –Gabe Logan

Ep1-3
Evidence #7
Point of impact. The massive, gaping maw of charred and shredded steel was created when a smaller boat, loaded with explosives and piloted by soon-to-be-martyrs skimmed just below radar and crashed into the bow of the St. Helens. The Navy ship was dead in the water, but met its doom in the aftermath of that diversionary explosion. As the ship’s crew responded to the emergency, a second wave of attackers boarded the ship and caught them off guard. Still, something doesn’t make sense. Why was the St. Helens in these waters, alone without escort? –Gabe Logan

Evidence #8
MREs. The Warsingala boats were like parasites astride the St. Helens, sucking her cargo holds dry. Just as one boat departed, another shuttled in to take its place and continue looting. The pirates didn’t stop with stealing just weapons or military ordinance. They took anything that wasn’t bolted down, including uniforms, pots and pans, pillows, even popcorn and beef jerky. One American ship has probably just supplied the Somali economy for a year. –Gabe Logan

Evidence #9
Keffiyeh. From the colors on this grunt’s keffiyeh, and the customary 898 tattooed on his neck, I’ve identified that Cordell was right about one thing at least: we really are dealing with al-Jamil. I’ve fought these guys before. Led by Ghassan al Bitar, these guys call themselves ‘The beautiful.’ Al-Jamil divides its forces into two branches: warriors and elite. Inductees can become one or the other, but until they achieve a certain status within the army, they’re cannon fodder. Topside, on deck, I killed a lot of these lower-level grunts. This guy was one of Bitar’s trusted inner circle. He’s not so pretty now. –Gabe Logan

Ep1-4
Evidence #10 (For killing all the guys in the first area with stealth)
Farewell Letter. ‘Dear mother, please know that without fear, pain or regret, I have traveled proudly to my new home.

By the time this letter reaches you, tales of my heroic sacrifice will already have rippled through our homeland and thundered around the world. Make the tears you shed be for pride, not sorrow. My sacrifice against western conspirators of the Suez Canal is what I feel I was born to die for.

Please tell my brothers, sisters, and father I hope they are as proud of me as I was proud to share their name. Until we meet again, know that I am now at peace.

-Your son, Ehab Atwar’.

Evidence #11
NIOC courier. The executed agent had been a courier working for the National Intelligence Oversight committee. NIOC was created via Presidential Order to provide a layer of accountability for the countless ‘black box’ agencies such as mine. Cordell may be smarmy, but he’s got connections with the right people inside the Intelligence world. That’s how he managed to worm his way into the role of NIOC Director. He’s not my boss, but he’s got enough influence to always be in the way. –Gabe Logan

Evidence #12
Insulated armor suit. I’ve seen this kind of suit before. The ID tag reads ‘AIT AS-4.’ One of Singularity’s designs. Singularity was the brains behind stealing Project Dark Mirror. He stole classified projects from around the world and sold them to the highest bidder. This special hazmat suit technology was stolen from Aeroscience Integrated Technologies when Red Section took over their facility in Helsinki. This suit’s been modified to act as an anti-static safety suit used for handling electronic components. The fabric is made out of tightly woven carbon fibers that mesh an armor-like shell. A power supply built into the back of the suit doesn’t make much sense for something designed to discharge static electricity, but Teresa or Mujari should be able to reverse engineer it. –Gabe Logan

Evidence #13
NIOC computer. This computer interfaced directly with the vault inside cargo hold five. I’d never seen anything like it; an encrypted hard drive, custom operating system, and with no external ports or network connection. All signs that this was designed to be the most isolated, and therefore, most secure computer in the world. Building a proprietary computer is prohibitively expensive and impractical – it’s got Cordell’s stink all over it. The vault itself was quite small, but appeared capable of transporting an array of volatile and dangerous cargo types, including chemical, biological, even radioactive weapons. What the hell was Cordell transporting?

I don't know if you picked up on this but the water training area was just a reused level from Dark Mirror. It was that same place where Lian rescued Blake in the flooding tank. And I never knew about tasing the water. That's great.

Bu the way, you're lucky that you can just hack in the bonus levels. You unlock one of them by getting the combat knife patches and it's so loving rough. You basically have to just charge like a madman at everyone and stab away. Most of the levels require you to stab basically everyone and it sucks.

Update 30 - Logan's Tomfoolery

Syphon Filter Logan's Shadow Episode 2 - Indian Ocean 2
Logan returns to the scene of the crime with a huge aussie twat helping him out. Gabe risks his neck fighting Spetsnaz divers while Dane kills time!

Evidence so far posted:

Ep2-1
Evidence #14
Duct tape. Bishop grew up on an offshore oil rig where he developed most of his anti-authority attitude. It’s also where he became a very savvy marine mechanic, learning to fix big or small problems with anything on hand. Of course, most of the things that needed fixing, Bishop broke in the first place. Since he was forced into ‘early retirement’ from British SAS for disciplinary problems, Bishop found only one person willing to hire him: himself. As his own accountant, he became almost dangerously frugal with repair expenditures. On the ocean floor, I found a part that had fallen off his mini-sub. His backup oxygen lines had been held together by duct tape. –Gabe Logan

Evidence #15
Sea mine. The Spetsnaz Divers were deploying mines around the St. Helens wreckage. Bishop’s mini-sub had been constructed out of glass fibers to reduce its magnetic signature against such weapons. But the minefield was denser than expected, and his path moved too close to the magnetic sensors. The Spetsnaz were here to find something. Judging by the density of their defensive perimeter, they expected to be here a long time searching for it. Or maybe they were expecting company. –Gabe Logan

Evidence #16
Missile shell. It’s hard to believe the Navy would sink its own vessel. Yet I was on the bridge when cruise missiles slammed into the deck. And I heard the radio traffic first-hand. The markings on this missile shell prove it came from a Navy destroyer. However, the cruise missile is a ‘beyond the horizon’ weapon, meaning it can be fired from thousands of miles away, without visual confirmation of its target. That leaves open the possibility that the Navy didn’t know they were firing on their own ship. It’s possible they were firing on a target given by Cordell. –Gabe Logan

Ep2-2
Evidence #17
NIOC shipping protocol. I discovered NIOC shipping protocol documents on the dead courier. They outline the steps to be taken in the event of hostile encounters. A) Send coded signal to satellite uplink. B) Ensure that crew complies with interrogation counter-measures. C) Retreat to and remain in secure hold. D) Activate primary and redundant tracking devices. The courier hadn’t completed steps C and D, which means the tracking devices weren’t activated. Cordell has no idea where his stolen cargo went.
Code: K6S D4F NV9J –Gabe Logan

Evidence #18
ICBM warhead. The St. Helens had a vertical launch missile silo below deck. Supply ships are equipped with close range defensive systems above deck, but any armaments below deck are those stored and read for loading onto other warships. There was nothing defensive about the missiles onboard the St. Helens. Locked into the launch bays were two tactical missiles with small yield warheads. Sometihng tells me the St. Helens had been in a hurry, and was therefore traveling light. Otherwise, these missiles could have been much heavier, because the launch system was certainly nuclear capable. –Gabe Logan

Evidence #19
Captain’s body. The captain died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He didn’t stay alive long enough to go down with his ship or be captured by the enemy. The years of service required to obtained the rank of captain are designed to filter out the cowards and mentally unstable. It looks like he killed himself, not because he was afraid of being captured, but because of some twisted protocol that required him to commit suicide. Or maybe it’s just meant to look this way. –Gabe Logan

Ep2-3
Evidence #20
Satellite photos. According to the timestamp, this photo was taken by a Russian SVR reconnaissance satellite two weeks ago. It shows the St. Helens being loaded with cargo at the Navy’s sealift command base on Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. A second satellite photo, dated four days ago, shows IPCA recovery crews pulling me out of the ocean near the St. Helens wreckage. The Spetsnaz knew about the classified cargo, but al-Jamil beat them to it. They didn’t consider it was a priority two weeks ago. Judging from this salvage operation, their priorities have recently changed. –Gabe Logan

Evidence #21
Reactor. In the late 90’s, Cordell worked for a defense contractor that designed next-generation battleships. The design goals were to utilize remote controls for performing a variety of reconnaissance and other covert functions. Nuclear propulsion was a key feature, which would have allowed them to stay at sea indefinitely. Congress cancelled the program, and the idea was moth-balled. Apparently, Cordell never let it go. It’s been obvious for a while now, but the St. Helens wasn’t a supply ship. I doubt it even belonged to the Navy. –Gabe Logan

Evidence #22
Sergeyev. On a mission to Russian Georgia in 2000, I killed Sergeyev’s predecessor, Maksim Lebedev. I would have killed Kudrenko as well had the bullet intended for both men not tumbled and ricocheted around Maksim’s skull instead of exiting the other side as I had planned. In the ensuing gunfight, I crippled most of their Spetsnaz company and left Kudrenko with burns over fifty percent of his body. Sergeyev assumed command and rebuilt the company as Kudrenko recovered. In a position where it is almost customary to stage coups, Sergeyev remained loyal to Kudrenko, and now serves as his right hand man. He owes that promotion to me. But that didn’t stop him from trying to kill me inside the reactor room. –Gabe Logan

Ep2-4
Evidence #23
Depth charge. The unexploded depth charge had been a dud, but plenty of other charges had detonated and decimated the remaining Spetsnaz dive teams. Not content to scuttle their own ship once, the Navy is now carpet bombing the entire wreck site. Cordell had originally sunk the St. Helens to prevent al-Jamil from escaping with classified cargo. But I’m not sure if Cordell ordered this attack to stop the Spetsnaz, or to stop me. –Gabe Logan

Evidence #24
Dive sled. Sergeyev’s escape craft was a Russian Velo-5 diver rider. Rumored to exist, but never seen outside of Russia, this was the underwater equivalent of a jetpack. While I was trapped in the missile room, Sergeyev had the courier codes and a big head start, but Bishop sabotaged the sled and prevented his escape. I know it must have been painful for Bishop to leave such valuable equipment behind, but something tells me he’ll be coming back later to salvage the sled. –Gabe Logan

Evidence #25
Borrowed things. The engine compartment lid fell off of Bishop’s mini-sub. Inside I could see the cobbling together of salvaged parts from all over the world, and form a variety of vehicles. The hydraulic valve I installed from the Agency seemed to complete this international collection. Manufacturer markings on each part told the story; an Israeli electrical system, Chinese armaments, and a Spanish chassis, to name a few. Considering that Bishop enters most ports covertly, his mini-sub bore the stmap of more countries than his passport. –Gabe Logan

Bonus Ep1 – Killing Time
Evidence #26
Treasure map. Not sure if this came from the Warsingala boat, or if it’d been swimming around down there for years. Didn’t have time for a close look, so I pocketed the old, rolled-up parchment. And I won’t be telling Cassie about it either.
From a family of marine biologists, and raised on the Atlantic just right of Brazil, Cass fell for the lure of an adventurous life, and after a round-about journey, that landed her on my lap.
A female version of me, she’s the best partner I’ve ever had, and I trust her with a lot of things, including my life. That is, unless money’s involved. –Dane Bishop

Evidence #27
Warsingala flag. When I tell most people what I do for a living, the tone of their voice changes, and they stop looking me in the eye. They just assume that ‘freelance marine salvage’ is a euphemism for pirate, and that I’m scum of the earth.
First of all, they’re flat wrong. And second, they never met real pirates. I’m not talking about the eye-patch and parrot variety; there’s nothing romantic about these modern killers and crooks. With GPS, sophisticated radios, and vast international waters to terrorize, the scumbags will rob you of all your freight, and might, if the feeling strikes ‘em, kill you just for sport. –Dane Bishop

Evidence #28
Record time. Cassie sweated me the whole time, but I scoured the entire wreck site, collected everything worth collecting, and still managed to beat Logan inside to the reactor room. Cassie should have known better because she’s watched me do the same thing a dozen times. I always come through. Well there was that one time in Jakarta, but that’s a whole other story.
This is what you’d call the ‘moral grey area’ of what I do. I’m not beholden to anyone but good-ol’ number one—me. And there’s nothing in my rule book against extracting useful wares from a place they’ll never be useful again. –Dane Bishop

I was talking to Crow and I had to ask about who the best character in the series is so far. He asked "what metric is this based on" and I quickly corrected myself to saying there is none because everyone aside from Teresa is a war criminal. Then I got to introduce Mr. TORGUE to him, which is a fair point, :torgue: front runner for top character.

I try to think of things to say during certain points but I usually forget them. You mentioned NOLF and it was exactly what I wanted to bring up in regards to the underwater spearing of mens. The underwater action in NOLF was good fun, but that's a given because NOLF is a great game and I would play it if it would work on more recent OS. Even GOG hasn't gotten it. I remember I had NOLF2 working once on Win7, it installed fine, I beat the game in a day fine, but any time I tried to start it later, it would crash on launch and I couldn't solve it. I doubt it would fare any better on 8.1.

Nobody is actually sure who owns the rights to NOLF, it seems possibly split between Activision, 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros. Night Dive Studios were planning on fixing the rights mess for a possible digital release but Activision seemingly lost records of their ownership, the same went with 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros outright said "no" after threatening to sue Night Dive for renewing the trademark to the game, probably because they don't give a poo poo about PC games as is evident with their recent half-assed ports and now pulling out of PC development.

Syphon Filter Logan's Shadow Episode 3 - Azerbaijan
Logan heads to Azerbaijan to pick up Lian's trail, where he encounters yet another amount of Russian war crimes taking place. Fighting his way through the genocide - and a lot of Russians - Gabe meets Lian's former partner from the MSS and rendezvouses with MI6 friend Maggie Powers...

Jade's headset broke just moments before recording. But it turned out just fine. Thankfully the JAIDS did not steal this week from an update.

quote:

Ep3-1
Evidence #29
Civilian. The Spetsnaz have slaughtered so many villagers that dead bodies littered the streets and spilled into the canals. A bullet hole in her forehead, this woman was murdered by Spetsnaz months ago. Spetsnaz have been encroaching on the Azerbaijan border, pushing toward the Caspian Sea, trying to gain access to its wealth of oil resources. This incursion is only the most recent incident of ethnic cleansing and human rights abuses that have raged here for twenty years. –Gabe Logan

Evidence #30
Hidden message. Maggie left a message on the wall of our rendezvous location. She didn’t have time to leave many details. Here’s what she wrote: ‘Gabe, I’m cornered and in trouble. If you find this, get out of Kuranca, quickly. You don’t know who you’re’… From the looks of the room, she didn’t go without a fight. Maggie wasted her time warning me to leave. She knows I’m not going anywhere. Not until I know who I’m dealing with. –Gabe Logan

Evidence #31
Al-Jamil letter. My alliance with the Azerbaijani Resistance League developed out of necessity because we share a common enemy; the Spetsnaz. They are strong fighters, and good people. I discovered the resistance headquarters from Ghassan Al-Bitar, addressed to Eman Borak. Bitar thanks him for delivering to al-Jamil, ‘the Chinese scientist, and his female companion.’ Al-Jamil’s sworn goal, to remove all Western influence from the Middle East, was the only thing simple about this situation. –Gabe Logan

Ep3-2
Evidence #32
Journal. A page from Shen’s journal: ‘I do not know who will greet me in Pakistan, but it does not matter as each nation is a non-proliferation state. If I stay here, this device will be in the hands of just one government. Trinidad has been watching more closely than ever. They will never let me leave. WMDs have never been used in modern warfare because of the promise, or threat, of mutually assured destruction, MAD. My English isn’t so good yet, but even I see the humor in that.’ I don’t see the humor in that. –Gabe Logan

Evidence #33
Dossier. I found a Chinese Secret Service dossier for one ‘Gabriel Logan.’ After recruiting Lian from CSS, I never expected any Christmas cards from Chinese Intelligence. But I was still surprised to find such a comprehensive record of my life and career. I skimmed enough to learn they had targeted me for assassination on multiple occasions, but Beijing officials intervened each time. I assumed there would be death warrants, but I never knew I had friends in high places in Beijing. A CSS agent’s codename is stamped on the dossier; Trinidad. –Gabe Logan

Evidence #34
PDA. The dead courier’s PDA screen was cracked, but the device still functioned. Teresa will download the contents later, but I was able to read the courier’s last report through the fracture screen. ‘Coded report: MI6 Intel accurate. Too late. Room in disarray. Subjects missing –via force. Next action –locate contact, special agent Mag’… He didn’t live long enough to finish composing the message. He had come to the roof for clear line of sight to the NIOC satellite, to ensure contact. Ironically, this gave the sniper that killed him clear line of sight to his dead.

Ep3-3
Evidence #35
Dossier. SVR dossier for Chinese national, Dr. Shen Rei. SVR agents inside Chinese Secret service learned that Shen defected and took a top-secret research project with him, seeking amnesty with a western nation. Considered by many to be China’s Albert Einstein, his invention promised to revolutionize the energy industry. The dossier concluded with, ‘Shen escaped on foot through the Taklimakan desert; an environment so forbidding that even Turkic nomads refer to it as the place of no return.’ This is a sign of Dr. Rei’s desperation, fear, will, or all three. –Gabe Logan

Evidence #36
Interrogation transcript. According to this log, Maggie withstood two days of brutal interrogation. A long list of separate interrogators had tried but none managed to break her. When I finally reached the Spetsnaz command post, she was still frustratingly energetic and up-beat for even hardened cold-war era interrogators. Maggie’s a pro. That’s why we work so well together. –Gabe Logan

Evidence #37
Rook. One of Azerbaijan’s proudest national symbols is a castle keep called the Maiden Tower. Her name comes from the fact that –after one thousand years of war—the tower had never been taken by force. The Spetsnaz commandeered the tallest building in Kuranca: a boarding school library. Converted into a makeshift armory and headquarters, there were grenades, rocket launchers, and AK-47s everywhere. The Spetsnaz flag hung over tossed books, tables, and broken chess pieces. This rook was still intact despite jackboots stomping on it for days. –Gabe Logan

Bonus Episode 2 – Lian’s First Time
Evidence #38
Revenge. The hotel manager was street smart enough to know that when I purchased Qwan Tak’s itinerary, I had only one purpose with the information. Yet he decided to cross me with false information. Did he think I would not go through with the assassination, or that I would fall into the net of Qwan Tak’s security detail? Either way, he made just five hundred Yuan, but lost his life. Not a very fair trade. –Trinidad

Evidence #39
Efficiency experts. They saw power corrupts. I say it must also cause amnesia. Qwan Tak had been installed by us as the puppet governor of Alta, a Mongolian province subject to our machinations. He forgot how determined we are; thought he could stave assassination with bodyguards and by changing hotels on a nightly basis. He forgot the blood that we spilled to install him at his pretty position in this pretty territory. He forgot how little time it took to remove his predecessor. Tonight Lian and I jogged his memory with our lethal mission efficiency. –Trinidad

Evidence #40
Big Sister. Counter to stereotypes, China is the most progressive nation in the world. We are pragmatic people who divorce decisions from emotion. Social programs have guaranteed our populous won’t strain the Republic’s resources to the point of collapse. The burden females of my generation have to carry for this is that very few of us have sisters. Some have brothers, but rarely sisters. Lian is my charge, my protégé, and my partner. It is my duty to take care of her. She has become, what I guess feels like, a little sister. –Trinidad

Good thing you showed off the knife patches at the end there because I want you to try and imagine getting those legit. Each level has a quota of enemies to kill with the knife in order to advance and get more patches. Well, in the first two levels in Azerbaijan, you need to kill 25 people with the knife. That's basically everyone who you can run up to. Combine that with the accuracy and damage output seen in this video, you can see how much fun that would be. And it only gets worse going forward.

On the PSP it'd be fine and balanced around the fact your controls would suck, i.e aiming with the face buttons. Screw that

But on PS2, well, you see that I barely inched around a pillar and almost died in the span of an attosecond and not even getting a chance to visualize the man who shot me. However, even then, there are the tricks like tazing a man and running up to him and the flashbangs that can help.

But then you play the later levels and then you :suicide:

In fact I'm having serious difficulty with the final bonus mission, one that is unlocked by beating the game on Hard. If you know what I'm talking about, that mission is 100% impossible to beat on PS2 on Hard difficulty. I spent 10 minutes save stating between every kill and trying to know where people were coming from and it was plain impossible with how quickly they can acquire target and fire. Maybe Normal is possible. Haven't tried, but I will when Episode 6 rolls around. A person you need to keep alive dies ultra fast, can't defend themselves, and enemies do not die in 1 hit as they need to to keep pace. There aren't enough words to describe the level of "hosed" you are trying to play that mission, which is bizarre considering Lian can take a thousand bullets and not lose half her health on PS2 Hard but this person gets wasted in four.

You bringing up the other bonus mission made me go give it a try and you're right, it's really goddamn difficult. I don't know if the switch between systems did anything with the difficulty but yeah, it's not a fun mission. As far as the controls go, the PSP is kinda awkward but you get used to it. My guess is that on hard, you'd need to be incredibly lucky and hope everything breaks right for you because otherwise you're just gonna be stuck looking at the mission failed screen forever.

I may go back and try using the taser to help get the knife kills but once you get to the level just after the one you posted, it probably won't b much help. Flashbangs can only go so far.

So the mystic script says.
I have yet to catch up on all of these last two games because I had a monstrous hatred for the PSP and how uncomfortable it was for me to use.

But thank you so much for showing me the error of my ways, I just started on the first vid of Dark Mirror and my loving god I cannot believe they kept all the good things that I loved about this series. So thanks Lune, you're the best for giving this series of my childhood the solid respect it deserves. :patriot:

Edit: aaaaaaand caught up, wow so am I right in assuming that Logan's Shadow is the worst of the Syphon Filter games at least gameplay-wise? Cuz man I can tell there were some pretty bullshit parts going all up in that latest mission...but at least the ragdoll physics and great dialogue help make the journey less painful.

Update 32 - Logan's Frown

Syphon Filter Logan's Shadow Episode 4 - Georgia
Gabe works with Maggie to escape a Spetsnaz Gulag, braving the elements without any outside help. After reaching safety, he finds that things can only get worse.

Left Behind Hidden Evidence
Evidence #41
This level was supposed to be the final level in the game so it was intended to be very difficult. It had dark areas so the player had to use their NV goggles. It had areas where Gabe was forced to use his EDSU goggles. It had helmeted guards that forced the player to use tactics like knee shots. It had EM armor guards that forced the player to use EMP charges. It was definitely an intense experience.

Evidence #42
The story behind this level was pretty simple: Gabe had eliminated pretty much the entire Red Section army except Singularity and his elite guards. While sending his minions after Gabe, Singularity took the Dark Mirror bomb and left on this train with the intent of detonating the bomb, killing millions of innocent people. Little did he know, Gabe boarded the train in a last desperate attempt to stop Singularity.

Evidence #43
Taking a level to a final production sometimes is very difficult. There are many stages in development that levels have to go through, from first playable to Alpha, to Beta, and then to Final. This level actually made it all the way to Beta but due to time constraints, it ended up being cut. Most levels that don’t make it end up getting cut much earlier. We hated to cut this level because the artists had done such a good job on it.

Ep 4-1
Evidence #44
Photocopy. Trinidad, the CSS agent, dropped this photocopied letter as she escaped from the interrogation room. The original had been hand-written on a Zhonghua Industries letterhead, and signed by Dr. Shen Rei, Director, Advanced Energy Group, Z.I. It was addressed to, ‘Mr. Prime Minister, Hotel Matignon, Paris, France.’ The letter never arrived; intercepted by CSS or Zhonghua officials. Most of its contents had been redacted. –Gabe Logan

Evidence #45
Surveillance recording. MI6 provided Cordell with the photos of Lian. Maggie was already in Azerbaijan when I contacted her. This can’t be mere coincidence. We’ve worked several ops in the past. I trust her. But after learning that Lian had a husband she never told me about, I’m prepared for anything. This tape I recovered from the surveillance room details Maggie’s own prison interrogation. She was holding up well. My head still hurts from the beating I took, but her ‘questioning’ began days ago in Kuranca. What hasn’t she told me? –Gabe Logan

Evidence #46
Telegram. The warden had been shot in the back by his own men. He was attempting to escape the wrath Kudrenko would unleash on him after my escape. The cash and telegram in his pocket explained it all. Kudrenko criticized him for having ‘porous’ prison walls in the past, and that, ‘losing Logan would be the final straw.’ Kudrenko promised not to kill him, but to make him a prisoner here at Gebel Tyorma. –Gabe Logan

Ep 4-2
Evidence #47
Frozen corpse. The courier’s body was located just outside the sewage drain system. He died trying to break into the prison. I had to drag Maggie kicking and screaming into these pipes in order to save her life, but this courier voluntarily entered them? Why are NIOC Couriers at every location of interest? They always seem to be one step ahead of me. Either I’m on the right trail, or they’re following my every move. Hypothermia was the obvious cause of death, but Maggie would probably say the smell killed him.

Code: B72 N90 2V6Y –Gabe Logan

Evidence #48
Hatch. Outside the prison, beneath a hollow tree, I discovered a steel hatch. You would never know it existed unless you were searching for it, or crawling around the snow packed woods like me. The MI6 intel described how Kuranca citizens have been abducted by Spetsnaz for over ten years. Most vanished forever, but some managed to return home with the assistance of the Azerbaijani Resistance League. –Gabe Logan

Evidence #49
Oil pipeline. The pipeline buried in snow was operated by the South Caucus Oil Consortium. Their pipelines crisscross Georgia, Azerbaijan, and the Caspian Sea. Since 9/11, oil prices have risen, and so has Russia’s economy. Already possessing vast oil resources, hardliners are trying to cement their super power status by reclaiming oil-rich break away regions. And in these remote mountains, Kudrenko has been given license to do whatever it takes to break the local resistance. –Gabe Logan

Ep 4-3
Evidence #50
Fake passport. After out last encounter, I never got the chance to see the long-term effects of Kudrenko’s wounds. Intel managed to get burn ward photos of the immediate trauma, but since then Kudrenko hasn’t been seen while not wearing a hat. But there’s no dodging a passport photo. Everything listed in this document was false except for the frown, and the grotesque pate of raw skin and thinning hair. –Gabe Logan

Evidence #51
Shipping manifest. Since the fall of the Soviet Union, the Russian military has operated like a series of fiefdoms, and Kudrenko had his as far south from Moscow as one could get. When not working on official military operations, Kudrenko’s allowed to do as he pleases with all the resources at his disposal. The shipping records I discovered list everything from food rations, medical supplies, military weapons, to illicit substances. Kudrenko’s smuggling operation was a one-stops hop. –Gabe Logan

Evidence #52
Caviar. Kudrenko kills for country, for business, and for pleasure. What makes a man like him so terrifying is how quickly and easily he can shift gears between cold blooded killer and rowdy sailor. In a single cargo crate, I discovered caviar intended for bribing government officials and laser trip mines intended for use in Kuranca. I’m not sure which cargo is intended for country, for business, or for pleasure. –Gabe Logan

So yeah, this is where I gave up trying to get all the knife kill patches. That section in the forest, you think it's not fun under regular circumstances? Try trying to get 20 knife kills there. That's basically every enemy outside of that first shootout with the electrified fence separating you from them and the sniper section. It's so poorly thought out. And yeah, the sewer pipe is a Shawshank reference. In fact, the name of that entire chapter is called Tyorma Redemption. Also, that switch after the interrogation should do something. It does on the PSP anyway.

Also, shame on you Lune for not trying to open that electrified gate at the start of the forest section. You missed out on some prime snark from Maggie.

I assumed I would burst into flames for trying. The only other time we've seen an electrified fence (what I can recall anyway) is Syphon Filter 1 and if you touched it you died in a second, then there were the laser fences that torched you. I'll check the PSP version for things.
