Just be glad I haven't been :spergin: about signal levels and SNR when it comes to the modem chat. I'm amazed the drat thing can even get online; the phone modem (why they sent a modem instead of just a normal networked phone adapter is beyond me) keeps losing sync.

I had my phone looking like this last night. The original battery was glued in; my heart stopped when it made a loud CRACK when the battery popped loose. I swore I'd shattered the LCD.

Holy poo poo. Just got an email from my health insurance saying they finalized the claim for the hospital visit.

:stonklol:

I'm very confused. Happy as a pig in poo poo, but confused. I haven't hit my out of pocket limit for the year yet (though I am close).

Oddly, my PCP hasn't billed for my visit yet, though the lab that did the bloodwork has billed (and I also got a $0 bill for that too). The IOP I'm enrolled in told me they can hold off on billing for up to a month when I mentioned I was very close to hitting my out of pocket limit.

Logitech's cheap wireless stuff (ie the $20 wireless keyboard/mouse set Amazon sells) is excellent. My limited experience with the more expensive Logitech stuff is that it's rather garbage - with the exemption of trackballs which are all excellent. I've owned a variety of Logitech trackballs since the early-mid 90's and zero issues.

Also the Logitech nano receiver things are all interchangeable so you can get your wave setup working if you fine one and figure out how to program it.

BITTER POOR PERSON
Back to job chat, couple of weeks ago I got a call back from a place I had interviewed with in May wanting me to come back in for a final interview with their CIO. Went in early Friday morning and they offered me the job on the spot, it'll be a 10% increase over what I'm making now with a 10-6 shift that's more agreeable for me (gently caress mornings.) Only down side is there's a 90 day waiting period for benefits, but I'm going to call them on monday and ask if they'll waive or reduce it if I agree to sign a one year non-compete clause.

I'm a bit conflicted because while my current job at the K-12 IT support place doesn't pay as much the work environment is pretty chill and my current manager has a very good management style - tells you what needs to be done and then allows you to do your job - I really can't turn down that big of an increase. If they want to meet or exceed the offer I have I'll stay but I'm doubtful they will, from what I've heard from my coworkers raises are like unicorns and the turnover rate is pretty high.

Halfway decent? Yes compared to other options. As high quality as 10 years ago? No.

At least, that's how I feel based on the mice I've had. I've got a wireless ergonomic one that's heavy and solid feeling from 2005 that is still working that was their top of line at the time (laser MX I think?). It's starting to die though so I keep it at work and at home use the 'performance mx' which feels kind of cheap and lightweight. I'm also overly sensitive to the quality of materials I touch often and want them to all feel solid (like steering wheels and shifters) so I don't know how trustworthy my opinion is. I'm not sure what alternatives there are either. Most people seem to buy cheap mice, but since I spend so much time touching one I'd be ok spending over $100 for a good one as long as it lasted.

I think the closest we've gotten is the 944 LS thread, but I haven't seen that updated in a while. I don't know poo poo on the topic, but would like to read the discussion wherever it occurs so I can learn more about them. Has anyone here even been a part of a build like that? Because if they have they should be posting about it! :colbert:

Congrats on the offer! How are the growth options at the new place? And did you like the CIO and ask him questions? Does he have a good vision and leadership style that will be passed down to your manager? If the answers to those questions are yes, I'd take the new gig.

Edit: ^^^ I feel like we really went down the pizza chat hole in May or June amidst one of the best this or that forks in the road, but I could be wrong. I've been working too much this summer so my sense of time is all messed up.

Most of my logitech stuff has been the pricier kb+mouse sets because those keyboards have the padded wrist rests that I like. For cheaper stuff I usually get corded microsoft.
No luck on the wave USB receiver, it's the older type that has a connect button on it, so no newer logitech receivers I have work. Seems they are NOLA too, plus not worth buying one because I can't remember why I even stopped using the wave kb, might be broken. I know the mouse was, and maybe I chucked the receiver away with the mouse, forgetting I still have the keyboard.

Anyway, I fixed the mk700 kb.
What a way to spend a saturday night, hunched over the keyboard film with a loupe and running over traces with a pencil. All good now except the caps lock LCD display icon doesn't work and the power switch is a bit dodgey.

While apart I was going to give the underside of the keys a light spray with silicone lubricant. The nozzle on the can broke and spray went everywhere. Drowned the keys and then ran out the door to chuck the can out, the floor got enough spray for me to be almost slipping falling over a few times tonight since then.

Now it's time for a few drinks and catch up with project binky.

The Clifton Arizona Hill Climb, 2.1 miles up Ward Canyon Road, ran from the early 1960’s through the early 1980’s and then from the late 1980’s through the early 1990’s. The event has not been held in 25 years. This year through the efforts of the City of Clifton, Greenly County, many interested locals and the Arizona Region of the SCCA, the hill climb is being held Labor Day weekend September 5-7. Saturday and Sunday are practice and race days with trophies for the first-third overall and by class and Monday is a handicap/charity run with cash awards for first-thrid and last.

Registration can easily be reached by going to azscca.com. Since our registration system requires a scca class type for each car, if you do not know your class type please use special/solo and we will correctly class your car at registration. Most hotel rooms in Clifton are gone, but you can try the Morenci Hotel (just up the hill) or Safford hotels.

There are very few hill climbs in the US, please help us make this event a success. Please spread the word to your fellow drivers even if you are not interested.
