i played some levels gruesome graves was funny. i loled at the end. frolic with the big muncher was fun, even if that sort of speedrun thing isn't really my favorite sort of level. small hops and long drops made me say "gently caress" a lot, but i beat it, and it was cool. i liked the boss room.

My personal best level is probably Castle Crackdown because it's a blatant ripoff of a Yoshi's Island level

This is my favorite level that I made. I actually ran out of blocks in the sub world. https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/DEFC-0000-005E-4AEA My tiny huge level is popular though. I need to revisit that concept. Because there are so many courses I think people give up when courses are too hard so it's tough to reach a balance of fun and appealing but not brain-dead easy.

Any chance this will ever get an expansion pack? There are a number of things I think would be cool to include, primarily a Super Mario 2 tileset.

i think i'm going to try limiting myself to 3 screen levels. the ones i have don't have many completions, which probably mean they're too hard / long.

its easy to make a level that's too hard because you know where everything is, just remember that levels don't need to push you to the limit to be fun. in fact the opposite is true, going fast with modest obstacles feels good

played a little 100 mario mode and god its so bad lol. one of the basic things a level needs is to give the player a sense of direction, and you'd think that would be very easy given the toolset but people love making clusterfucks, or big open spots that make you wonder if there's something to the right if you jump as far as you can instead of taking the pipe into a suicide chamber etc. i know most levels are literally designed by children but drat this game could've been a lot better with some filters lol
