I'm going to gush about this game ...'s soundtrack. It's studded with some real big names of Japanese video game composors, providing a few tracks each. Of those the list includes Yoko Shimomura (Youll know which ones she provided instantly), Motoi Sakuraba (you've heard one of his contributions already, its the main menu theme) and Masashi Hamauzu () Now the large, sadly a bit mediocre, bulk of it is done by BLACKART, a team of composers: Very hit and miss but the entire rest of it is just really good. But if only the devs knew how to use them better. The soundtrack tends to grate on you even if it is actually really good. Rigged Death Trap fucked around with this message at 23:30 on Aug 17, 2015 |

HMH2 revels so much in genre cliches it forgets it's supposed to parody them sometimes. That 'sometimes' is the entirety of Yusha's character.

All the chapters have wordy beginnings and endings, thankfully the middle bits are quite brisk. Now things so get better, almost but not quite HMH1 levels, but mostly because HMH1 was disgaea levels of good localisation.

Dr. Fetus posted:Now did the Evil Lord Weapon slip on a banana peel, or the actual banana? Also I love how it's called a Death Trap. Just what was going on with Overture and Judgement? Considering the later parts of the game, those chapters really stick out like a sore thumb. No lie, I had to literally stop and start grinding at one point in the game because all the enemies in a mission had both poo poo payout and were unkillable at the starting level. So a slow climb was impossible because I couldn't afford healing and time resets. It was one or the other. (then again grinding involved finding yellow/red beast global enemies and whipping out the beast beat, parking the hero castle next to their exact spawn point, entering and exiting to respawn them.) Yuja The best of all what shonen anime protagonists represent. All that hot blood, being dense Also his mission theme is the best fuckin mission theme. It kicks so much rear end. Also you are really overleveled. Massively. Rigged Death Trap fucked around with this message at 19:57 on Sep 29, 2015 |

The God 9 music is used in a really bad way, sort of exemplifies how mediocre the audio design in this game is, which is a shame considering the music is real good. Also the God 9 theme is by Yoko Shimomura: You may know her from hit titles such as Kingdom hearts. (It should be real obvious: she hasnt changed her style at all these past 10 years.) [e]: also she's going to be why FF15's soundtrack is going to be mediocre, not out of lack quality but due to the sheer amount exposure to her style people have experienced, she lacks the sheer PUNCHING GET HYPE factor, and thus tends to get overwhelmed by the game sound effects. There are enemies that are by definition unbeatable, and I think there are only two: Furious Athena and Level 99 Geezer from the DLC. Also Yuja isn't dumb, just hotblooded to the point of utter obliviousness.

Dr. Fetus posted:Nah, they're beatable. You just have to be at a super high level. There's an actually unbeatable enemy you encounter later on in Ragnorok, but you're not meant to fight that enemy in the first place. Oh! Because I've tried at G.Level ~200 and it was a no go

It runs a bit deeper than that: The track you hear during that mission was composed by Otomania, who I think is one of the most well known vocaloid artists? Im not sure. Still though he does stuff for project DIVA and the like.

This is why Ragnarok is the best chapter. It's not great gameplay-wise: in fact from that point it's the most dull end game of any chapter, but It's still great.

Yeah the finale sorta falls...a bit flat. It's like they came to Destiny and just ran out of really new ideas. I was fully expecting something like that Valhalla Knights crossover hell quest in (The one with Balmung?) HMH1, but really nothing here challenges you that much. MightyPretenders posted:The Legend of Hero is the worst finale of the game. Of course, I'd completed most of the Demon Maze already (for obvious reasons) so I just blew through it. I'm pretty sure that was how the designers intended you to approach the chapter. Im assuming it's because there was already a hero there to stop her. Since the gods were all dead there was nothing there to be stopped/killed to generate timestream. So dark time goddess.
