Can the vents be stopped? High explosive grenade didn't seem to do anything but it's always hard to tell if it landed where I want.

Since screen transitions roll for getting unlost traveling north or south moves through screens faster. Also speaking to any sentient will unlost you immediately. Consider getting an Issichari banner if you find one for easy safe travel across the desert (minus the lizards). Actually that's a good point I want to expand. At the start of the game before you've managed to change your reputation very much you can rely on disguises and reputation items to make life easier. The iron neck ring makes baboons like you, the issachari banner stops those rifle guys from killing you from 200 miles away, crocassins are good for winged serpents (and crocs but they're nothing), goggles give insect rep, there's tons of them. A character that starts with the neck ring can pretty safely wander around the canyons without fear of instant offscreen baboon death. So is there any place where I can find crysteel or better lying on the floor? I dug down to about ~32 under the asphalt mines (ffffffuuuuuuuuucking lava caves) and broke into a non lava strata, where there were plenty of dromads selling zetachrome that I can't afford.

My guess about the effect of the mark is just inventory control, like a product tag on company property. I get the feeling we're only seeing a tiny fraction of the process in there, at the very last steps.

Sounds like you need more dodge than you get from Spry, really. AV starts increasing pretty fast around Bethesda Susa so maybe take detour around the goatlands to get some better armor first?

You might want to look at Temporal Fugue then, you hit it and a bunch of clones go nuts killing hostile poo poo for you. Proselytize and Beguile are really good for getting extra companions, and you can equip them by chatting with or Dominating them. Try gaining control of a creature that has its own entourage and see how you like it.

It's 10 regen to be immune to decapitate. Any equipment attached to a dismembered part needs to be recovered off the floor, don't forget your stuff.

I found an ancient artifact that was pretty much an oldschool nonblessed scroll of Genocide from Nethack, but was disappointed that Trolls was not one of the factions you could delete from the map. To preserve the keys perhaps?
