They've been pretty flaky. I got the server error message trying to login last night, and then it connected fine on the second try. One annoyance I've found is that the server side loadouts aren't always saving, so I occasionally have to go back in and re-create my loadouts.

current tribes meta is "how many tries does it take to login" Also, if you played Tribes before now and uninstalled but didn't do an OS wipe, might want to check your tribes.ini in Documents\My Games\Tribes Ascend\TribesGame\Config. Mine was set up with some garbage settings since I last edited it in 2012 when I had a much worse videocard.

Seriously, that's the one thing making me not reinstall the game. How are people so good at hitting single slow-moving projectiles with inheritance while travelling in different directions? Am I just at a huge disadvantage for never playing Tribes 2? A flight sim like WT is easier than this for me, because at least there you get more chances to hit and your target generally can't shoot back.

I got really good (relative to other pubbies) at hitting people midair by playing a loving ton of T:A and shooting at a lot of people who were in the air. Also I have near-permanent pain in my wrists from playing too much, so protip: stop playing if your wrists hurt.

Weirdly enough I found arena was a good way to get a feel for your projectiles. Then just play a couple rounds as pursuit to get a hang for leading, try and lead to when they're either going to be at a peak of a boost or riding a predictable slope.

Play novice servers to grind. I don't think this is feasible on PTS (maybe on weekends?) because there aren't enough low-level players, no idea about live's player numbers.

When I did a CTF quick match a few months back, I didn't get paired up with a single player. Steamcharts put the game at around 200 players at the time, though.

Kalstrams is right though, and even underselling it a bit. The MOBA bubble popped hard and left atop the rubble are League and DotA 2, with SMITE raking in a very tidy third place as the others sputter out one by one. As to this sudden defib to T:A being altruistic, I'm in the same camp you are, where I think the moment the community doesn't flood back in overnight, they'll pull the plug again. And it won't, it could not possibly see a resurgence in whatever absurd time frame they have on this experiment, so pucker up.
