There's a few wealthy inhabited systems close by, it shouldn't be a problem to get a new one if worse comes to worse and the rescue ship fucks off with it.

This post has a thargoid attacking a rescue ship. I think they did some fuckery to get this to happen but it may have been random as well. Legit good event they have going here.

I guess the starport interior of those attacked stations is superheated from all those heat sinks I pop inside it.
Also, I accidentally forgot to unload some refugees and brought them back to the station on my next trip, I am sure they loved it.

Every time I dare to start enjoying this game again, one of the ridiculously obtuse problems problems always surfaces and just kills any and all motivation I had to keep playing. I was super excited to go and evac some survivors of the damaged starports, but then I had to wait an hour and a half and pay 1.5 million credits for the lovely ship transfer. I could literally fly to Skvortsov and back (to the Pleiades) twice in that time, what a horribly implemented feature. :argh:

I was just thinking about leaving some of my ships in a few different spots and making a DBX taxi to cruise between different bases of operation. How far can you jack up the jump range on that thing these days?

On an unrelated note, I'd like to go shoot some xeno scum but I don't really want to pay the rebuy of my Anaconda, what's the cheapest ship you can reasonably fight Thargoids with? How's a Python fare?

How much do you get for saving passengers? I was thinking of just putting a cabin on my DBX and call it a day. Are the passengers OK with being packed like sardines in an economy-class cabin? I could squeeze in a couple more passengers this way.

From few thousand to about 250k per mission, depending on the amount of passangers. Economy cabins are fine, no need for anything better.

I had something stupid happen to me too. I rescued two large groups of people from the damaged station but when I got to the rescue ship I couldn't release them, the option wasn't there.
Apparently, because I had replaced all my cargo containers with passenger cabins I didn't have enough space to accept their 2 tons of space garbage that they wanted to give me as part of my reward. And because I couldn't accept it they refused to get off my ship and be rescued!
Had to travel to another system to buy a cargo container large enough to house their reward (which somehow they had on hand to give me even though I didn't have room) since the rescue ship didn't have containers big enough to buy. I had to store my fuel scoop at the new station to make room for the new cargo container and when I got back to the rescue ship and FINALLY dropped off my passengers I had to wait 8 minutes while my fuel scoop was transferred to me from the other station... :argh: indeed!

My dbx is over 50 ly jump range. However, I use a stripped down hauler as my taxi since it's cheaper to transfer and it still does around 48 ky

I think touch controls would have really lovely precision, which is already something HOTAS setups struggle with, compared to KB/M.

The HOTAS provides physical cues that just aren't there with touch. I just don't see how it'd be feasible. It'd be like trying to type with mittens on.

Keyboards give a more precise feel than a HOTAS?

Mouse is more precise than joystick, some pvp junkies stick to it so they can precisely land railgun shots for example.

Jul 13, 2013

Yeah. I always found a mouse more precise for aiming than a joystick.

The advantage of a HOTAS (apart from MY IMMERSION) is it's easier to control more axis at once. It's a struggle to do vertical/horizontal thrusters, forward/back throttle, and roll (or yaw) simultaneously with the keyboard. There's not enough fingers to go around.

Farewell, good Hunter. May you find your worth in the waking world.

I prefer the emulator on my PC that lets me control elite dangerous via my switch controllers. It is a little hard to land with the tilt controls but I would never use a HOTAS.

There is a flight simulator called VTOL VR, that handles stick+throttle flying with motion controllers really well. You probably won't land any rail snipes, but it should be precise enough for normal flying.
