Mining is indeed very dope and relaxing. I've done over 100m in mining profit just from doing CGs. Make sure you mine within -30km of a hazres with the A prospectors to get the maximum payout. Helps to bring a mate along to dunk on enemy pirates while you mine, too!

well, that's a shame. I knew about its pitch at release, but assumed they would have absolutely have had to changed that if they were advertising the ship as a warship that fills the same role as the corvette.

For pvp it is superior to the corvette right now because it can carry class 8 scbs which are insanely powerful and the c4 hardpoints on the vette are not well utilized in the current meta. It is also much faster and can masslock vettes, and its hull is more suited for ramming.

For pve, the vette and anaconda are both better ships as they have better distributor and are a bit more nimble. For pure pve i'd still stick with the anaconda if I had to choose a large ship.

The silent running module counter looks cool. I like the idea of modding one of each of your weapons and kind of having a swiss army knife loadout. I could see on my fdl having a couple of thermic multicannons, a rail that breaks shields, a multicannon that illuminates silent ships (just announced), and hopefully a huge PA that is significantly buffed in line with the c3.

Might be fun. We'll see.

Mass lock missiles, scrammer mines, and railgun heat buff. I take back my whining about the update having too many pve modules. New module mods are going to own.

I really like them buffing the boost mechanic. Makes the combat a little more fast paced and feels more like star citizen combat, which is a model that I at first didnt favor compared to elite, but have come to appreciate more due to its faster pace and higher skill cap.

The greatly increased mission payments for smuggling are good. Money should be more easily acquired as the game is already too grindy for the amount of content it has.

The AI buffs are good and I wish they would stick with the human like behavior model. Buying a big ship does not entitle you to killing every small ship you engage, especially when that ship can be 400ms faster than you are. This makes intelligent module targetting more worthwhile, as well as burst damage. Its funny how much whining there is about AI behaving as humans do, which indicates there might be an issue with gameplay and not so much with npc/player behavior.

That said, because of the more challenging AI they should really increase bounty payouts by 4 or 5 times. And get rid of the boring and easy RES farming mechanic of the past and turn it into more challenging bounty hunting.

Fishreds99

Was a FDL. The affix drained a much more modest amount on a normal railgun and is pretty useable, so might be a bug. Could be a new pve meta to bring a conda chocked full of fuel tanks and railguns and just go ham.

Do remember that the Ferdie has a tiny fuel tank for something its size - it has a 16-ton tank, equivalent to a Cobra's, while the ship itself is about the size of a Python. (The Asp-E, for reference, has a 32-ton tank, and I think the Python is 64-ton). Seems like a cool upgrade but you probably want to fit those on a ship with a bigger tank and space for aux tanks.

Gotcha. So 1 shot using an fdl and 4 shots using a python. Thanks for the tip!

Interesting thing about the heal beam we realized while testing with Harry--4 pipping your shields makes them 2.4x stronger, and thus requires 2.4x more dps to break because of increased resistance, NOT increased capacity. The healing beam heals your shields at a rate that is as if they have 0 pips to shields (pips do not cause you to resist healing). This means that the amount of HPS required to maintain a shield is significantly less (potentially 2.4x less) than the DPS required to break it, making people running the healing mod to their beam laser super effective since it has no downsides and automatically switches between healing/damage depending on if you target a friendly!

Elite was never meant to be, and will never be, an open world mmo built upon player actions and interactions. I've come to terms with that and feel fortunate that there are still plenty of those who freely log into open and allow me to torment them.

SC will hopefully be that experience many of the pvp players were hoping for, but it is shocking how crybaby a huge amount of SC players are even in early alpha, which has shaken my confidence quite a bit--despite the fact the game probably won't launch this side of the decade.

The goonfear is strong in SC and it's probably going to grow exponentially in ED as this competition pushes on.

Agreed. Just a bizzare sentiment to have about internet spaceships and being unable to cope with them being blown up, generally. I'm not sure if any other genre attracts a comparable amount of whingers and people who are so against playing with others.

I actually wouldnt mind some mild p2w content in ED and most games. Most adults are short on free time and the desire to grind, but have plenty of disposable income. Granted, it's lovely to do it in games that aren't f2p. I guess the expansion which gives access to the enhanced modules is kind of p2w but still will require ungodly amounts of grinding.

As someone who is good at combat in the game and who has routinely thought to myself "heh, get good" when i've seen people bitch about the difficulty of the game, I admit that high ranked npcs seem overtuned relative to the reward you receive from destroying them. Aside from the blatant bugs, risk/reward seems way out of whack. High ranked npcs should be rare and worth millions of credits to kill, kind of like elite mobs in mmos.

To be fair to her, the bugs were not related to AI behavior but the parts of the code generating ship configurations.

There is however a major problem with the AI indiscriminately attacking people for no reason at the moment. This could be a problem with the AI checks for aggressive behavior or some sort of standings/bounty/pp check error.

Ending the devil's advocate posting; do not post poo poo like that when some people have lost possibly weeks or months of effort and are severely disillusioned with the game. jfc

I actually think she is a good dev but posting garbage like this without a coherent or sympathetic argument is just petulant and does you no favors. You are right that the AI behavior and the module bugs are separate issues and she probably has very little if any blame for the one-shotting npcs.

Her AI tuning, while a bit aggressive, does not seem to be much more challenging than before--aside from the use of special modules which can be troublesome in some situations. Aside from the one shotting do to certain bug interactions, shes done a good job.

I would recommend that anyone looking for the eve-in-cockpits experience just play eve with us instead... it is much less frustrating than bitching about a game not being what we want because ED was never meant to be that game and never will. It is fundamentally not an mmo and will never be.

Also, SC just pushed alpha 2.4 to stable and it is freaking awesome. I would also recommend anyone looking for that eve-in-cockpits experience to quit shitposting about ED and enjoy games that are designed to actually make sense.
