Halo 5 is the 2nd installment of the Halo series brought to us by 343 industries. In this game we follow the story from two perspectives. John-117 the Masterchief leads the blue team, being reuinited with his fellow Spartan-II's. As we understand it he will be hunting for any remains of Cortana. Lots of stuff. For campaign you will now be playing with a team of Spartans throughout the entirety of the campaign. You will be able to instruct them to attack certain enemies or fortify positions. These spartans will then be playable in online co-op by your friends. Unfortunately there is no split screen co-op. For multiplayer, the focus is now more on two different areas of play. Arena, which will return to halo's roots of more traditional competitive multiplayer . The second will be warzone, a 12 vs 12 multiplayer experience featuring AI enemies as well as AI bosses. There will be no 8v8 BTB. I'm guessing it's a combination of thinking it'll sell more copies of the game (because former groups who played together with 1 copy on 1 console will now have to quadruple their investment) and reducing rendering overhead, since they only have to render one field of view (it can get taxing in split screen especially if the players split up). Might break some storyline sequences if there are too many people with agency, too.

It's already been confirmed that it'll drop the horizontal resolution so this is an inevitability no matter what, doubly so if it's not a locked 60.

What is changing about the multiplayer this time around? I really did not like Halo 4's multiplayer. What I loved the most about Halo 3 was that everyone started with the same weapons, and then the real good weapons were in set spawn points. This created a real good competitive environment for Halo 3, it made map strategy real important and encouraged team play. Halo 4 threw this out the window by having weapons spawn in random locations. Halo 4 also upped the damage of all weapons, throwing the balance off and making the game play feel more like Call of Duty. Which I think is what killed the multiplayer so quickly because those who wanted Call of Duty had Call of Duty, those who wanted Halo 3 were left out in the cold or forced to go back to Halo 3 and Reach, which everyone did.

You'd have to do something like Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles where you give each player their own controller-screen so they can manage menus without fighting for control of the TV. Halo 5 doesn't have all the RPG systems Destiny does.

It would be possible (Diablo 3 certainly pulls it off very well, mainly by tethering the players together to a certain degree, as does Borderlands) but probably too logistically complicated for an always-online game that has more in common with MMO's than local co-op games. I pretty much guarantee that if they ever spun off a weird offline FPS in the Destiny franchise, split screen would be a priority for Bungie.

There's no reason destiny couldn't have split screen. Especially the poor excuse for pvp that is crucible. Borderland integration is a bit clunky but it works. Halo 5 probably should have had split screen but part of me is glad it doesn't. Especially since almost all my friends are garbage at fps. The ones that are good already have their own console.

Nah, Destiny PvP is great and is likely to be far and away better then Halo 5's. Lets see if 343 can actually implement features they promised this time, unlike what happened with Halo 4 where all we got was a barebones multiplayer and map creator that was no where close to what was promised and was inferior to what Halo 3 had.
