I know it's a table, not a graph, but it's just too perfect to not post it here.

Yeah they're comparing individual countries to the EU, when each country within has their own Olympic committee that sends their own athletes.

It would be like the US sending 20 teams to each event.

Kiiinda, but this graph does make you think about the fact that a larger population has a larger chance of having a good athlete than a smaller population. This does give large countries a statistical advantage, when you compare the absolute amounts of medals they got.

Let me just say that I live in a country where liters per 100 km is commonly used, and I don't get them. Those numbers are meaningless to me.

I literally need to grab a chart of values for different vehicles and find if a number falls in the top, middle, or lower part to get an idea if a car uses a lot of fuel or not.

I don't know if km/liter would be more intuitive though, I never had to deal with those values.

E: A good argument which I hadn't considered yet.

I was kinda interested in finding out what kind of deranged mind comes up with this poo poo and still calls it science, so I googled that organisation.

Turns out, it's a cult. It's led by some guy they consider a saint, and whenever they talk about him, the pronouns are capitalized, like "He".

Stuff they believe:
- 'Spiritual science' is just as valid as modern science. But modern science is worthless because it's only about the physical world and doesn't help us after death.
- Quote:

quote:

When one wants to research the subtle-world, one cannot use conventional measurement and analysis tools. Just as we cannot use a measuring tape to measure one’s intellect, so also we cannot use physical, psychological or intellectual methods to understand or explore the spiritual realm. This is because of the simple reason that by definition the spiritual dimension is that, which is beyond the understanding of the five senses, mind and intellect.
- So, how then do you do 'spiritual science'? Why, that's simple. You just have to follow a training by one of their gurus, they will teach you how to talk to god/"universal mind", and once you know how to do that, you can ask him any question and the correct answer will pop up in your mind in seconds. Don't worry about the needlessly complex scientific method them regular scientists came up with. And it's true research because you learn 100% accurate facts by using this method. It's beyond the understanding of intellect so don't question it.

In Germany licorice gets more popular and people get more and more invested in it the more north you get, it's no wonder a Dane would go off the rails like this :p

Whereas we in the south literally call it “bear poo poo“ and view it as a weird sweet for children with a broken palate, how does that make you feel?

e: for real though, I used to date a girl from Kiel and she was always raving about licorice and how we in the south don't know what's good for us but when she made me taste some it was merely... ok?

Here in Holland it's always fun to make foreign visitors who want to know about the local culture and food eat salty licorice. The look on their faces is indescribable.

If they survive that, THEN it's time to get out the stroopwafels.

I think one time I had a Korean person LIKING salty licorice. That was surprising.

Can I recommend to you folks the Miracle Berry. It's a small berry originally coming from Africa, and there's something in the juice that confuses your taste buds temporarily, for an hour or so. It makes all sour things taste sweet.

This way, if you eat a lemon raw, it tastes sweeter than the sweetest orange, while you can still feel the acid sting in your mouth. It is unusual and cool.

Outside of Africa you can buy it in candy tablet form that you need to let melt in your mouth.

Seriously though what the hell would "conservative liberals" be? Other than just a fancy way of saying centrist.

In European politics, liberals are by definition rightists. Liberals are people who have a preference for individual freedoms (hence the term liberal) and therefor prefer low taxes and low government involvement, which is a conservative point of view.

On the other hand, the left side of the political spectrum is mostly social democrats and on the far left socialists. They believe the government should take action to help citizens so that everyone can expect the same basic treatment no matter how rich or poor they are. They are in favor of universal free or low-cost healthcare and consider it okay to raise taxes to make this happen.

For some reason, Americans seem to equate the term 'liberals' with the political left, which leads to some very confusing international discussions. Maybe this is because the American Democratic party is center-right at best and there's no real leftist presence in US politics (well maybe Bernie Sanders comes close).
