That's fair, there's a base level of civilization required before individuals can even get to the point of measuring distances and doing basic math.

From another perspective though, the average person will probably walk the circumference of the earth three or four times over the course of a lifetime. And that was probably way higher for pre-agricultural people.

Years ago my employer had a performance eval process that started with a self evaluation. Each question had you rate yourself from "1 - needs significant improvement" to "5 - is a role model to others." The last point you had to rate read "being a role model to others." Anyone who didn't pick 5 for that is stupid. I'd love to know how many people that is.
