Tech's destiny to play A&M in either the Texas or Liberty Bowl has not been altered in my mind. WVU dropping one of their next two games or TTU beating UT in Austin on Thursday will solidify that.

I've been calling Tech vs. A&M in the Texas Bowl since almost day 1, since there's no way that the Texas bowl would pass up either of those two for like West Virginia or someone else in the SEC since Arkansas went there last year.

I don't think anyone is interested in a Tech Arkansas rematch, either.

Boston College 0-7, 3-8 @CUSE 0-8, 3-9
Same ol' same ol', thought Florida's been so bad I'm now putting FSU over them, which moves the Noles into double-digit wins and opens up a possibility that they can play in a New Year's Six bowl. No one deserves to win Cuse/BC tbh.

Coastal
pre:
North Carolina 7-0, 10-1 @NCST, ACCCG 8-0, 11-2

Georgia Tech 1-7, 3-8 UGA 2-6, 4-8
Heels ruin Beamer's sendoff as they clinch the Coastal and get ready to take their second beating in Charlotte this year. Duke's fallen apart and may be Shreveport-bound. Hokies' aren't dead and I said weeks ago it'd be hilarious if they lost all their home games and won all the road ones to get in, and goshdarnit if that ain't close to coming true, which is BeamerBall 102. 101 is punting.

Big Ten

East
pre:
Michigan State 6-1, 10-1 PENN 7-1, 11-1
Michigan 6-1, 9-2 OSU 6-2, 9-3
Ohio State 6-1, 10-1 @MICH 7-1, 11-1
Penn State 4-3, 7-4 @MSU 4-4, 7-5

Indiana 1-6, 5-6 @PUR 2-6, 6-6
Maryland 0-7, 2-9 @RUT 0-8, 2-10
So much for "put up or shut up" for Ohio State :smug:. If Sparty beats Penn State they win the East, if they lose whoever wins Ohio State/Michigan takes the division, so the Buckeyes aren't dead yet. Indiana just needs to beat Purdue, Rutgers/Maryland should be cancelled on principle.

West
pre:
Iowa 7-0, 11-0 @NEB, B1GCG 8-0, 12-1
Northwestern 5-2, 9-2 @ILL 6-2, 10-2

Nebraska 3-4, 5-6 IOWA 3-5, 5-7
Minnesota 2-5, 5-6 WISC 2-6, 5-7
Illinois 2-5, 5-6 NW 2-6, 5-7
Purdue 1-6, 2-9 IND 1-7, 2-10
Iowa clinches the West, and although they'll be underdogs no matter who they face in Indy, I think they stand a better chance against Sparty/Michigan than against Ohio State. Three teams are still in the hunt for a bowl spot, though all three will be underdogs and will have real ramifications on how the lower-end bowls play out.

Bowl Projected Teams: Iowa, Michigan State, Ohio State, Northwestern, Michigan, Wisconsin, Penn State, Indiana

Kansas 0-8, 0-11 KST 0-9, 0-12
People are talking up Oklahoma, but if Baker Mayfield is out with a concussion that chances the whole equation and that's enough for me to project Cowpoke over Sooner, and it might also be enough to keep the B12 out regardless of what Notre Dame does. Either way, you've never seen so many belt-buckles attached to human shells root for smart people against the Irish in your life. K-State is still alive, but they'll need to catch the couch burners napping.

Projected Bowl Teams: Oklahoma State, Baylor, Oklahoma, TCU, West Virginia, Texas Tech

Pac-12

Cal 3-5, 6-5 ASU 4-5, 7-5
Washington 3-5, 5-6 WAZZU 3-6, 5-7
Oregon State 0-8, 2-9 @OREG 0-9, 2-10
Stanford wins The Game and takes the North in the process, and will be heavily favored over whomever comes out of the South. I don't think Oregon will get enough love to get into the NY6 bowls. Wazzu can keep Washington out of the bowls with a win in the Apple Cup.

South

Arizona State 4-4, 6-5 @CAL 4-5, 6-6

Colorado 1-7, 4-8 @UTAH 1-8, 4-9
Battle of Los Angeles decides the South as both schools beat Utah. The Arizona schools do what's necessary to get into a bowl which is some solid collusion there. Zona's season is over, now they've got plenty of time to rest up for a bowl games.

Bowl Projected Teams: Stanford, UCLA, Oregon, Washington State, Utah, USC, Cal, Arizona State, Arizona

Jesus H. Dickshitting Christ was a loving terrible division. I almost feel like it's been so bad we should dock Bama a spot just through association. Florida's not given a poo poo about football since winning the Cocktail Party, so I've got them losing out even though it probably won't affect their bid to the Sugar since who the gently caress else from the conference are you gonna put there? Kentucky and Mizzou have a shot but not really. Bye Vandy if you come back bring some points with you.

pre:
Alabama 6-1, 10-1 @AUB 7-1, 11-1

Auburn 2-5, 6-5 BAMA 2-6, 6-6
Well, the whole division is going bowling again, whoop de drat do. Bama basically mortally wounded LSU, bert finished them off like the scavenger he is, and Ole Miss dropped the People's Elbow on the corpse. With four teams basically tied for second and tie-breakers everywhere, have fun figuring out who to send to the Outhouse Outback Bowl.

Bowl Projected Teams: Alabama, Florida, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Georgia, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Arkansas, LSU, Auburn

UCF 0-7, 0-11 USF 0-8, 0-12
Temple beats Memphis and so they clinch the East with a win over UConn, who are now eligible after upsetting Houston, or if USF somehow loses to UCF. Huskies' upset helps out the conference in that they'll still claim the G5 NY6 bowl spot. ECU needs to finish off what's left of Cinci to make it in.

Tulane 1-6, 3-8 TULSA 1-7, 3-9
Navy's got a very realistic chance of going 11-1, winning out in conference play, and your racist grandparents are going to demand answers as to why the communist playoff committee (probably muzzies too) aren't putting :911: ARE TROOPS :foxnews: into the playoff and will give whatever it takes to Trump to make it happen. Memphis has fallen apart, Tulsa just needs one more to get it as well.

Bowl Projected Teams: Navy, Houston, Memphis, South Florida, Temple, UConn, Cincinnati, Tulsa, East Carolina

Here we finally go for the division. WKU got Marshall last year in Huntington, see if the Herd can return the favor in Bowling Green. MTSU's in, ODU just needs to beat an FAU team that took Gator to OT, which might not be as easy as once thought. Enjoy the offseason FIU!

LaTech/USM for the division, so C-USA did a good job scheduling. Unfortunately everyone else is now out, and what the hell happened to Rice? I was projecting them in, in, in, and now they're out with a game to go. Jesus Krispies.

UMass 1-6, 2-9 @BUFF 2-6, 3-9
Bowling Green losing to Toledo probably costs them a backdoor chance at that G5 bowl spot, but they'll have a shot for redemption in the MACCG regardless. Akron's in, Buffalo just needs to pound UMass and they'll be fine.

NIU beats the Rockets and Boat Rowers and just need to drop the leg on Ohio to claim the West crown. WMU's gonna end up 6-6 and behind CMU. Double-digits for Toledo and all that gets them in a trip to a Florida baseball stadium, at best. Such is life in #MACtion.

We know it'll be SDSU and Air Force in the MWCCG, the location is still up for grabs. SJSU has a chance against Boise, which isn't something we'd say a month ago, and if they can kick the Bluefielders while they're down it'll give the MWC another bowl team.

Still the Red Wolves division to lose. Dumping USA and ULL from bowl projections since both need to win against App State to get in, so unless the Mountaineers feel like doing a couple of jobs for the conference, it's just going to be three bowl teams out of the Fun Belt. Which is a shame tbh.

College Football Playoff

Orange Bowl: #1 Clemson (ACC Champs) vs. #4 Iowa (At-Large)
Cotton Bowl: #2 Alabama (SEC Champs) vs. #3 Michigan State (Big Ten Champs)

Here's what I expect the rankings to look like come Tuesday:

1: Clemson
2: Alabama
3: Notre Dame
4: Iowa
5: Michigan State
6: Oklahoma
7: Ohio State
8: Baylor
9: Oklahoma State
10: Michigan

Clemson stays at one and I don't think Bama's gonna have enough to jump them without a loss. Irish move up to three with their "win and in" against Stanford on deck. Iowa moves into the top 4 by virtue of being 11-0, but Sparty gets parked behind them in the catbird seat and effectively sets up a "win and in" Big Ten title game. Sooners get moved up to six, but you can only give them so much since they have the bad loss to Texas and only beat a wounded TCU at home by one. They're in great shape to take advantage of a Notre Dame loss, but still need to win Bedlam to even do that. Ohio State falls to seven and now need help.

So this means Clemson at one, Bama two, and whoever wins the Big Ten (right now Sparty) at three. But that leaves four open, and if I'm going to have the Irish losing at Stanford that opens up that spot. Stanford gets a boost from beating Notre Dame, but not enough to overcome two losses. 11-1 Baylor ends up winning the Big 12 after they beat TCU and 11-1 Oklahoma State wins Bedlam but loses on the H2H, but they aren't trending up. Instead, the committee breaks away from the expected and reward Iowa for their 12-0 season, and if they don't get crushed in the Big Ten title game, 12-1 Iowa makes the playoff, and the cries of protest from the state of Texas are heard from space, followed shortly by phone calls to Provo and Cincinnati.

Peach Bowl: Notre Dame (At-Large) vs. Navy (Group of 5 rep)
Sugar Bowl: Florida (SEC rep) vs. Baylor (Big 12 Rep)
Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma State (At-Large) vs. Florida State (At-Large)
Rose Bowl: Ohio State (B1G Rep) vs. Stanford (Pac-12 Rep)

Only the Sugar stays the same, as Florida's the best of a pathetic lot and takes the SEC's spot, matching up against the Big 12 champs and grumpier than ever Baylor team. Ohio State falls to the Rose Bowl, which is a pretty swanky consolation prize, and face Pac-12 champs Stanford. Notre Dame heads to the Peach, and to avoid an ACC matchup they face Navy with the Group of 5 bid despite Trump demanding Navy make the Playoff and raising 20 million to overthrow the muzzie commie liberal playoff committee thanks to your racist grandparents. Oklahoma State to the Fiesta, where they face Florida State, who steadily snuck up the polls and take advantage of UNC/Michigan taking late losses.

We're short three teams, so it's time to dip into the 5-7 pool for the first time ever. As we go by APR Nebraska, Rutgers, and Washington get the nods as the 5-7 teams with the highest APR. This is all over the place and is going to be sensationally wrong, so feel free to laugh as I maybe stick about 10 of the teams in total.

I really do love and appreciate Iowa getting into the playoffs as a 12-1 team, but they won't make Notre Dame and Navy play again. My guess is that FSU/Navy would switch spots, and we'd get to see OkSt/Navy and ND/FSU.

poo poo, you're right, I forgot about that with trying to avoid ND/FSU. If they feel like dumping the Irish to the Fiesta they can run OkSt/ND and FSU/Navy in the Peach, and use FSU as the local draw for the latter.

Or they could say "gently caress it" and not include Notre Dame at all

I really have a hard time believing that they'll leave a 1 loss Big XII champ out. And if they do, the reaction won't be to add teams (I don't think the Big XII will ever add teams before 2026), but instead will be to ensure that everyone is playing on the last day of the season.

On that note, if OSU upsets OU next weekend, Baylor does get to play the last weekend, which might be just enough to get them in over an at-large team.

ps: kill the 4 team playoff. Burn it to the ground.

Agreed. If we had the fabled 8 team playoff with each conference champ, a G5 representative, and two at-larges, this is what we'd have (based off of your predictions, of course:)

1. Clemson
8. Stanford

4. Baylor
5. Iowa

3. Michigan State
6. Oklahoma State

2. Alabama
7. Navy

Those would all be awesome games.

Rice hasn't managed to look good against anyone except loving Wagner (a 1-10 FCS team); we looked sort of respectable against Texas I guess but given how far down Texas is this year, that's not that big of an accomplishment. The four teams Rice has beaten have a total of 6 wins between them. Even in a conference that's as big of a garbage fire as C-USA, that's not good enough to get to a bowl.

BG isn't mathematically eliminated from the G5 spot but they might as well be. Memphis dropping off lately really hurts and losing to Toledo pretty much ended it.

Toledo still makes it to the MAC Championship if Ohio somehow upends NIU and Toledo beats Western.

We want the ball & We're going to score
Why does Florida State keep getting mentioned for the Peach as an At-Large team when they're ranked like 14th? Is there a limit to # of teams the other conferences can provide? i.e. Could BXII get 1 playoff team and then in theory 3 teams since Rose is protected for a total of 4? North Carolina is generally rated higher than FSU too but not listed. Is it that the ACCCG loss that UNC will have will drop them below FSU?

1: Beating Florida bumps them up into the 10-12 range, and since the committee places 11 teams and the G5 rep they don't need to jump any higher. Count in teams ahead of them losing and that only helps the Noles.
2: UNC's loss drops them down and the Heels are seen as a weaker team, discount both teams losing to Clemson and UNC's loss to South Carolina is worse than FSU's loss to Georgia Tech, especially with how flukey the ending was.
3: Peach is mentioned due to geography, Fiesta could be in the conversation as well.

I'm trying this bowl thing again. May be as catastrophic as last time.

ACC + Notre Dame - Clemson cruises to the playoffs with an ACC title over North Carolina. FSU sort of upsets Florida to pad their NY6 resume. Virginia beats VT so no bowl for VT. Notre Dame loses to Stanford.

pre:
<c>Clemson 8-0	13-0
Florida State 6-2	10-2
Louisville 5-3	7-5
NC State 3-5	7-5

North Carolina 7-1	11-2
Pittsburgh 6-2	8-4
Miami (FL) 5-3	8-4
Duke 4-4	7-5

Virginia 4-4	5-7
Virginia Tech 3-5	5-7

Notre Dame 10-2
Big 10 - Michigan State beats Penn State this weekend so they win the right to go up against 12-0 Iowa. The RNG still does not like Iowa. The 5-7 teams still hope to get to bowls thanks to sky high APRs.

pre:
<c>Michigan St	7-1	12-1
Ohio State	7-1	11-1
Michigan	6-2	9-3
Penn State	4-4	7-5
Indiana 2-6	6-6

Iowa 8-0	12-1
Northwestern	6-2	10-2
Wisconsin	6-2	9-3

Illinois	2-6	5-7
Minnesota	2-6	5-7
Nebraska	3-5	5-7
Rutgers 2-6	5-7
Big 12 - In this, Baylor beats TCU and Oklahoma wins Bedlam. West Virginia quietly posts an 8 win season.

pre:
<c>Oklahoma	8-1	11-1
Baylor 8-1	11-1
Oklahoma State	7-2	10-2
TCU 6-3	9-3
West Virginia	5-4	8-4
Texas Tech	4-5	7-5

Kansas State	2-7	5-7
Pac 12 - Stanford upends Notre Dame to give them a dark horse playoff shot, and then lose it to UCLA. UCLA makes the Rose Bowl and there's a conundrum about what to do exactly what Stanford.

pre:
Stanford	8-1	10-3
Oregon 7-2	9-3
Washington St	6-3	8-4
Washington	4-5	6-6
California	3-6	6-6

<c>UCLA	6-3	10-3
Utah 6-3	9-3
USC 5-4	7-5
Arizona 3-6	6-6
Arizona State	5-4	7-5
SEC - The Dark Lord Saban grindeth to dust all before his playoff berth, but Florida has done enough to warrant a seat at the NY6 table. Texas A&M beats LSU to seal Les Miles's fate, lord help em.

pre:
<c>Alabama	7-1	12-1
Arkansas	5-3	7-5
Texas A&M	4-4	9-3
Mississippi St	4-4	9-3
LSU 4-4	7-5
Ole Miss	3-5	8-4
Auburn 2-6	6-6

Florida 7-1	10-3
Georgia 5-3	9-3
Tennessee	4-4	8-4

Kentucky	2-6	5-7
Missouri	1-7	5-7
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

American - Navy sinks a spent Houston as Tom Herman slips out the back of TDECU Stadium. Grandpa gave enough money to Trump to get Navy in the NY6 :911: -

pre:
Temple 7-1	10-3
South Florida	6-2	8-4
Cincinnati	4-4	7-5
Connecticut	4-4	6-6

<c>Navy 7-1	12-1
Houston 6-2	10-2
Memphis 5-3	9-3
Tulsa 3-5	6-6
Conference USA - Marshall beats Western Kentucky and Louisiana Tech beats Southern Miss. And look, Old Dominion makes it to 6-6.

pre:
<c>Marshall 7-1	11-2
Western Kentucky	7-1	9-3
Middle Tennessee	6-2	7-5
Old Dominion 4-4	6-6

Louisiana Tech 7-1	8-4
Southern Miss 6-2	8-4
MAC - Northern Illinois beats Ohio U this weekend to send one-loss Toledo to who knows where, and then the RNG gives the championship to NIU. MACtion is a harsh mistress.

pre:
Bowling Green 7-1	9-4
Ohio U 4-4	7-5
Buffalo 4-4	6-6
Akron 4-4	6-6

<c>Northern Illinois	7-1	10-3
Toledo 7-1	10-1
Western Michigan	6-2	7-5
Central Michigan	6-2	7-5
Mountain West - Boise State comes in 3rd in its own red carpet of a division. Two Minutes Hate begins now. On the other side, San Diego State takes its dominance to its logical conclusion and gets ready to hit Vegas...

pre:
Air Force 7-1	9-3
Utah State 5-3	6-6
Boise State 5-3	8-4
Colorado State 5-3	7-5
New Mexico 4-4	6-6

<c>San Diego State	8-0	9-4
Nevada 4-4	6-6
Sun Belt - It isn't much fun when all the newcomers steal all the wins. For the first time, the Sun Belt fails to fill its bowl allotment, leaving the Cure Bowl to go fishing.
pre:
<c>Arkansas State	8-0	9-3
Appalachian State	7-1	10-2
Georgia Southern	7-1	9-3
Independents - BYU's Hawaii Bowl bound against what should be one of the American's big four. Should be good.
pre:
BYU 9-3
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Playoff field -

Undefeated Clemson is a no-brainer. As is Alabama. Michigan State gets in on the strength of the Ohio State win, and then beating undefeated Iowa. Stanford's upset in the Pac 12 championship finally leaves the CFP committee with no excuse to leave the Big 12 out. Oklahoma gets #4.

pre:
Orange	#1 Clemson
Cotton	#2 Alabama
Cotton	#3 Michigan State
Orange	#4 Oklahoma
First four out - Iowa, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Florida

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

New Year's Six -

The Rose Bowl rewards Iowa and upset Pac-12 champion UCLA. The Sugar picks up second-place Baylor to go against SEC runner-up Florida. The next two are kind of tough to place with Navy at the table, given as Ohio State played Navy last year and ND plays Navy every year. So, to avoid a recent rematch and generate some bigger hotel sales, the Peach is assigned OSU and ND, and Florida State's big fanbase gets to go to Phoenix and the Fiesta to take on the Middies, god bless em.

pre:
Peach	Notre Dame	Ohio State
Fiesta	Navy Florida State
Rose	UCLA Iowa
Sugar	Baylor Florida
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other bowls -

And this is where things get really, really messy. I've got 75 bowl-eligible teams, less 12 for the NY6 system, and that's just 63 teams for 68 berths. That had better mean a serious discussion about the number of bowl games.

pre:
Alamo Oklahoma State Stanford
Arizona Akron Utah State
Armed Forces	Air Force California
Bahamas Middle Tennessee	Bowling Green
Belk Duke Mississippi State
Birmingham	Auburn Temple
Boca Raton	Connecticut Western Michigan
Cactus Nevada Arizona
Camellia	Ohio U Georgia Southern
Citrus Wisconsin Arkansas
Cure Tulsa Buffalo
Foster Farms	Rutgers (5-7) Utah
GoDaddy Northern Illinois	Appalachian State
Hawaii Houston BYU
Heart of Dallas	Nebraska (5-7) Louisiana Tech
Holiday Michigan Oregon
Independence	Virginia Tech (5-7)	Missouri (5-7)
Las Vegas	San Diego St USC
Liberty West Virginia LSU
Miami Beach	South Florida Marshall

Music City	Tennessee Indiana
New Mexico	New Mexico Western Kentucky
New Orleans	Southern Miss Arkansas State
Outback Northwestern Georgia
Pinstripe	Louisville Penn State
Poinsettia	Toledo Boise State

QuickLane	Washington Kansas State (5-7)
Russell Ath.	UNC TCU
St. Petersburg	Cincinnati Old Dominion

would the 5-7 teams go to bowls with their conference affiliation?

If so, Catcus and Heart of Dallas would have a KSU available to them?

We're pretty sure that no one really understands how the 5-7 teams are going to work, right?

There's supposed to be a call about that. The original plan was go by highest APR, but no one's really quite sure. I imagine it'll be a mix of APR/names/non-lame duck teams. You can all but pencil Nebraska in since they'll hit all three, after that who knows.

In addition, MTSU is confirmed for the Bahamas Bowl, so unless BYU announced their choice when I wasn't paying attention that's our first team booked. 79 to go!

So if we go by what the Committee dropped on us today:

Orange Bowl: #1 Clemson (ACC Champs) vs. #4 Iowa (B1G Champs)
Cotton Bowl: #2 Alabama (SEC Champs) vs. #3 Oklahoma (B12 Champs)

Peach Bowl: Notre Dame (At-Large) vs. Michigan (At-Large)
Sugar Bowl: Florida (SEC Rep) vs. Baylor (B12 Rep)
Fiesta Bowl: Ohio State (At-Large) vs. Navy (G5 Rep)
Rose Bowl: Michigan State (B1G Rep) vs. Stanford (P12 Reps)

Remember, we're going by the rankings, so #5 Sparty and #9 Stanford head to the Rose while #7 Baylor and #12 Florida go to the Sugar per their league's ties. Navy is the G5 rep at #15, which leaves #6 Notre Dame, #8 Ohio State, and #10 Michigan. We're not going to get a rematch between the latter two, and we're not going to get a Navy/ND rematch either. By virtue of being the higher seeded team, the Irish get their pick and head to the slightly more prestigious Peach Bowl, and while they would normally get the easier G5 rep the rematch clause comes into play and they come up against their old foe Michigan. Ohio State heads to the Fiesta and they get to show how much they hate America.

From there how the rest shakes out, and now putting MTSU into the Bahamas:

The Big Ten losing four to the top bowls throws havoc on the rest of their tie-ins, as there's some very lucrative games that lower conference teams will jump all over themselves to chase. If you wonder why the Arizonas would travel across the country, that's the difference between adding a million to the payout and possibly half that staying closer to home. Yes everyone pools their money but might as well toss as much into the kitty as you can.

We want the ball & We're going to score

C. Everett Koop posted:

1: Beating Florida bumps them up into the 10-12 range, and since the committee places 11 teams and the G5 rep they don't need to jump any higher. Count in teams ahead of them losing and that only helps the Noles.
2: UNC's loss drops them down and the Heels are seen as a weaker team, discount both teams losing to Clemson and UNC's loss to South Carolina is worse than FSU's loss to Georgia Tech, especially with how flukey the ending was.
3: Peach is mentioned due to geography, Fiesta could be in the conversation as well.

Makes sense.. so in essence we have the following scenarios:

CFP:
Clemson- wins out, any loss takes them to NY6
SECCG winner: Alabama vs Florida (assuming FL beats FSU)
BIGCG winner: Iowa vs Michigan State/Ohio State
BXII champ (Oklahoma/Baylor/Ok State)

NY6:
1) Non-power5: Navy/Houston/Temple/Toledo
2) Pac-12 winner: Stanford/UCLA/USC
3) BXII runner up: Oklahoma/Baylor/Ok State/TCU
4) B1GCG loser
5) Ohio State vs Michigan winner
6) Notre Dame vs Stanford winner. In case Stanford Wins & then Loses PacCG.
7) SECCG loser or OleMiss/MissSt winner if FL L to FSU too
8) Florida vs Florida St winner. If FL W , would get CFP or in via #7. FSU W = in NY6.
*)2-loss BXII 3rd could take last spot with #6-8 clusterfuck

For the playoff, you're right with Clemson and the SEC scenario since if Gator beats two top #15 teams, especially #2 Bama, they'll be in regardless of how bad they've looked. You've left out Michigan in your B1G scenario since they're alive, and if Baylor/OkieLite wins the B12 11-1 Notre Dame might jump them. Maybe.

After that, 5 of the 8 NY6 slots are booked. SEC/B1G/B12/P12 all have guaranteed slots in the Rose/Sugar Bowls, and the Group of 5 rep (Navy/Houston/Temple, hard to see Toledo getting the nod at this point) gets a spot, so it then becomes the next three highest ranked teams in the final poll. If Stanford and Florida take some losses, it's very conceivable that a Top 10 team gets left out of the whole shebang.

Iowa wins out, which means it's going to be really funny when they lose in the B1GCG and get passed up for the Rose for Ohio State and get stuck in the Fiesta. Nebraska's 5-7 and technically out, but if anyone who's 5-7 is gonna go bowling it'll be the Huskers.

Kansas 0-8, 0-11 KST 0-9, 0-12
Big 12 going for complete hilarity late. From TTU's sensational deep dicking of Texas to Baylor/TCU being played in a wave pool, the B12's gonna make sure no one ignores it this year. Of course, now Bedlam decides the conference and if Cowpoke wins, I don't see how they jump all the way up, so it's Sooner or bust here. As for Baylor, I don't know how much you dock them for losing that game under those circumstances, but they'll have a chance to beat the gently caress out of Texas and get themselves to a NY6 bowl.

Projected Bowl Teams: Oklahoma State, TCU, Baylor, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Texas Tech

Oregon State 0-9, 2-10
Duckies take the Civil War but don't look great in the process, while Washington wins the Apple Cup and is now in. P12 sends 10 of their schools bowling, which is good on them and they'll be filling several available slots.

South Carolina 1-7, 3-8 CLEM 1-7, 3-9

Mizzou's offense didn't show up for their coach and thus Gary Pinkel's career is over, unless someone takes mercy on his 5-7 and gives him one last ride into the sunset on a 120 yard offensive "effort". ALT PUNCHLINE: Mizzou's offense only works in microaggressions.

UCF 0-8, 0-12
USF and UCF did their parts, USF winning and forcing Temple to beat UConn for the division, while UCF goes winless and should have the #1 pick over Kansas due to lower SOS.

Tulane 1-7, 3-9
Houston hands Navy their first ever conference loss and takes down the West, and by all accounts should be favored in the 'Murica CG and go to the Fiesta, which means they'll poo poo it away like they did the last time they were in position to go to a major bowl. Tulsa beats Tulane and they're in.

Bowl Projected Teams: Houston, Navy, Memphis, South Florida, Temple, UConn, Cincinnati, Tulsa, East Carolina

Charlotte 0-7, 2-9 @RICE 0-8, 2-10
WKU beats Marshall again and should be hosts/favorites in the CUSACG. They'd be dark horse candidates for the G5 spot, except they lost to Indiana and one of the rules of getting a NY6 bowl spot is Don't Lose to Indiana. Got Mizzou last year and it trips up the Hilltoppers here.

UMass 2-6, 3-9
BG's reppin' the East. Ohio's win over NIU ends up meaning nothing, but it does mean Ohio might avoid having to leave the states for their bowl. Buffalo can't beat UMass and that knocks them out, lowering our projected teams that much more.

Boatrowers beat Toledo and thus we end up in a four-way tie for first, and on the combo breakers NIU wins, but goddammit WE HAVE THE SITUATION FOR MAC THUNDERDOME!!!!!!!! If you don't remember my brilliantly insane idea from a few years ago, here's how MAC THUNDERDOME works:

-There are two games going on concurrently, in this case NIU vs. CMU from one set of hashmarks to the outside and Toledo-WMU from the other. The middle of the field is No Man's Land, you may enter at any time but no penalties will be called there.
-Consequently, if someone wanted to enter No Man's Land and interfere with the other game.....
-As we'll probably have several injured/dead players in No Man's Land, a Zamboni with a plow in the front will patrol No Man's Land and push any bodies out of the killingplaying fields. As it is considered part of the playing field, said Zamboni can be used as a screen/weapon/ride/etc...
-A live representative of each team's mascot will be allowed onto the field. That means NIU's awesome Huskie dog, a horse for WMU, a Native American for CMU, and a bunch of live ammunition for Toledo.
-Every now and then a red white and blue football is tossed onto the field. This is the moneyball and if you score on this play it counts double.
-Oh yeah, the Zamboni has a single upright with a bell attached to it. If you ring the bell with the football you get a point.
-As in traditional MACtion rules, first to 100 wins. This means if you want to try and kick a GW field goal and now need 9 men to block 33, well.....
-30 minutes after MAC THUNDERDOME ends, the winner will take on Bowling Green in the MAC Championship Game.

This would be broadcast on PPV and either be the greatest game ever and/or have several officials arrested for war crimes. I wish it was real.

Georgia State gets a win but they still need to upset Georgia Southern somehow to go bowling and that ain't gonna happen. The three teams on the ropes have to somehow take down the SoCon teams that have come in and ran poo poo just to limp into a bowl. Coastal may come in and never lose a game here.

Bowl Projected Teams: Arkansas State, App State, Georgia Southern

# of currently eligible teams: 72
# of projected teams: 77 - 10 (ACC, P12, SEC) 9 (AAC) 8 (B1G) 7 (MAC, MWC) 6 (B12, CUSA) 3 (SB) 1 (Indep)

College Football Playoff

Orange Bowl: #1 Clemson (ACC Champs) vs. #4 Stanford (Pac-12 Champs)
Cotton Bowl: #2 Alabama (SEC Champs) vs. #3 Michigan State (Big Ten Champs)

Peach Bowl: Ohio State (At-Large) vs. Florida State (At-Large)
Sugar Bowl: Florida (SEC rep) vs. Oklahoma State (Big 12 Champs)
Fiesta Bowl: Notre Dame (At-Large) vs. Houston (Group of 5 rep)
Rose Bowl: Iowa (B1G Rep) vs. Oregon (Pac-12 Rep)

So from where the rankings are right now, I have:

#3 Oklahoma losing to #11 Oklahoma State
#4 Iowa losing to #5 Michigan State
#6 Notre Dame losing to #9 Stanford
#10 Michigan losing to #7 Ohio State
#12 Florida losing to #13 Florida State and then probably #2 Alabama as well

#7 Baylor has already lost to #19 TCU, though Baylor will get one last shot to improve it's standings. Clemson/Bama/Sparty handle business to take the first three, but after the Irish take an L do you go with Stanford jumping five spots to get in, Oklahoma State with the better win but having to jump seven, or does Iowa simply not move? This also goes under the assumption that the committee doesn't somehow backdoor Ohio State into #4 again, which I don't think they'll do since they won't reward someone who didn't win their division, much less their conference. The committee has shown that they're willing to really move teams around, but seven spots even though OkieLite has the most impressive win? I really don't know what you do here, tbh.

Since I need to decide something, I'll give Stanford a win over a ranked team in UCLA and that extra win is enough to push them over Oklahoma State, and thus the cries that the Big 12 needs a title game are heard once more. We also learn not to count teams/conferences out, and too much poo poo happens. Of course, Notre Dame will end up winning and getting in because God is Real and it's the Fred Phelps-type God because gently caress You That's Why.

From there, Oregon slides into the Rose Bowl as the Pac-12 now place two here, they'll face Iowa in the Rose. Florida's two losses aren't enough to knock them behind Mississippi State who wins the Egg Bowl, but if Ole Miss wins they might get to the Sugar at 9-3 over a slumping Gator squad. Oklahoma State heads to the Sugar as the Big 12 champs. At-Large's, Notre Dame draws Houston but ends up in the Fiesta, as Ohio State/FSU draw the Peach for geographical concerns.

We still need three teams to go bowling. Nebraska hits everything you want from a 5-7 teams (name value, traveling fanbase, stable coach, good APR) and thus they're in first and head out west to the Poinsettia, who somehow back into a fairly intriguing game. Rutgers is next by APR, but they don't have a stable situation, nor great name value or a traveling fanbase. Still, two bowls we need to fill are on the east coast, and thus they head to New Orleans and face Georgia Southern. Needing a third with Washington in, Mizzou comes up and the intrigue of one last ride for Gary Pinkel easily wins, they head to Montgomery and face Ohio.

Whole bunch has changed in the past couple days. Whole bunch more will change by the time I do this in 24 hours.

BTW, I'm putting BYU out in Hawai'i because the basketball team is playing a tourny out there at the same time and thus doing a package deal to entice fans to travel works. If they chose Vegas they'd have to do Hawai'i again later or hope that they'd be in a conference by then and can just ignore the previous agreement.

Still think they put osu in over Stanford. Everyone should know by now that the previous week's rankings don't matter to the committee. It is possible that Stanford gets in on the strength of old-man football, but *shrug*.

We've reached the point where, yes, there are TOO many bowl games.

5-7 teams:

East Carolina
Nebraska
Illinois
Minnesota
Florida International
Old Dominion
Rice
UTEP
Buffalo
San Jose State
Kentucky
Missouri

5-6 Teams: (will create another spot for a 5-7 team if they lose)
Kansas State (5-7 if they lose to WVU)
South Alabama (5-7 if they lose to App State)

4-7 Teams: (need one more win to have a chance)
Louisiana-Lafayette (need to beat Troy)
Texas (need to beat Baylor)

So, assuming KSU and USA both lose like they should, we'll have four spots open for 5-7 teams. My thoughts:

Nebraska (probably the best 5-7 team in the nation, has wins against Michigan State and Southern Miss and a huge fanbase)
Missouri (strong OOC schedule featuring Ark State and BYU, Gary Pinkel's last game)
East Carolina (Strong slate of losses because the AAC is good this year, OOC included BYU and Florida, beat Virginia Tech as well)
One of Kentucky/Illinois/Minnesota (Will be Texas if they beat Baylor, but that's not gonna happen so they'll take another Power 5 team and call it a day)

I don't know if there will be choices in what teams are available. I'm betting they rank the 5-7 teams by APR and then tell the bowls to pick from those.

Or they just fill all the spots with SEC teams.

So...the playoffs are Clemson/Alabama/Oklahoma/Iowa or Michigan State, with Stanford as the last team out?

Depends on what the committee thinks about Ohio State. I'm guessing they stick Ohio State #5 and Stanford 6.

I don't think the Big Ten will get two teams in. I don't think any conference is getting two teams in, unless there's total chaos next weekend.

A #5 ranking for Ohio State would be honorary at best.

Have to figure Stanford is the next team up if Clemson or Bama loses. If both lose, then Florida might slide in.

ahahahaha

Honestly, Ohio State will finish 3rd in the Big Ten within the playoff, provided that the championship game isn't a total blowout.
