Hello, Goons with Spoons! I know the due date for the pie competition isn't until the 25th, but I hope I'm okay entering a bit early since the rest of my month is full of UNBRIDLED CHAOS.

For this challenge, I decided upon a classic autumn staple: pumpkin pie!

First, I picked up one of the wily orange bastards at one of my favorite local farm markets.

I lopped it in twain with my trusty katana:

These were roasted at 350 for an hour and a half:

While those bitchtits cool off, I pulverize some graham crackers

Mix the crumbs up with some melted butter, sugar, and cinnamon, then spread them out in a pie pan:

While that chills in the fridge for an hour, I scoop the brains out my pummins

ohhh gently caress

I have a lovely blender goddammit GODDAMMIT

Toast and grind some cardamom:

My spice melange, and a split vanilla bean swimming in cream

Eat the eggs

All my sugars mixed in, now to put in my pumpkin poo poo

cweam

Nothin says lovin like a shot fresh from the oven

A slice of the pie. I don't know how it got so blurry, don't ask me ffs

I had a lot of fun with this project. For one thing, I had no idea how much of the flavor of pumpkin pie actually does come from the pumpkin. Just roasting and pureeing the pumpkin flesh made the whole house smell so amazing I lubed up.

Anyhow, that's my pie. I hope you enjoyed its myriad scents and flavors.

That's a good looking pie! Pumpkin from scratch is so much tastier than the canned stuff, although I've never done one on a graham cracker crust.

I may have to now, although I might go with crushed ginger snaps insread of grahams...

How did I not think of that! Next time, it's gonna be trader joes triple gingersnap crust, dammit.

And where are the sesame seeds?
(It is a good, solid pie. Now turn it into ice cream. :getin:)

Is... that a thing?! I can see how it would be mighty tasty, but where do they go? Just sprinkled atop?

Edit: oh I get it now, the other competition. I'm dumb as gently caress.

or just mix it into the ice cream. Just shove a whole pie into it if you ever make some. And add more spice because the cold would dull the flavors.

Oh sorry, I was confused by the sesame seed thing, not the ice cream thing.

I am very much considering buying/making some ice cream and just smashing a slice up into it, Coldstone-style.

Well the thing is, sesame seeds on a pumpkin pie would probably work... so this joke might become something greater.

I'm picturing something like a honeyed-sesame seed crust.
