Do you honestly think that the people who watch sports and play in fantasy leagues do that from anywhere else but their home? The stats-obsessed, gif-posting, power-tweeting, thread-making GBS threads sports brigade is just as indoorsy and goony as the guys annoyed by them, with the added bonus of treating sports as if they actually mattered. In conclusion: don't try and play that particular card.

If I get a dashcam, can I start running them over? Or do cameras just get you out of the insurance fraud part and not the vehicular manslaughter part?

Well good luck, I'm sure the Streisand effect won't bite you in the rear end!

I'm not sure you completely understand what the Streisand Effect is—the figures aren't exposing some embarrassing truth that he wants to hide from the world, he just doesn't like his likeness to be sold with swastikas on it. He has no interest in burying the very notion of the existence of the dolls.

It's not literally the same case, of course, but I doubt millions of people would've seen him as a Nazi doll if it weren't for this (most likely futile) lawsuit.

That's what I mean, his aim is not to suppress knowledge of the existence of the doll, in fact the more people see it the more likely it gets that the company doesn't get away with it—it's not a mistake of Schweinsteiger's that he now wants hushed, people aren't sharing it to say "look at this moron who doesn't want to be a literal nazi doll", or to otherwise defy or harm him, so it's not the Streisand Effect.

For what it's worth, I thought what chitoryu12 said made a lot of sense and while I can laugh about sponge cake kid, I can also, simultaneously!, realize that that is the wrong way to prank someone who trusts you completely, and it'll be rough on them. Imagine how the poster earlier would have felt if he'd received some Ritz crackers in a Pokemon Red box (instead of the other way round), and that's it! End of prank. Bon appetit! No Pokemon for you.

A 45-year-old Whitney, Texas, man was arrested Friday on a misdemeanor charge of filing a false police report after officials concluded that it was he who wrote “Black Lives Matter” and other graffiti on his pickup truck as part of a hoax.

Scott Lattin, 45, a disabled veteran, claimed on Sept. 8 that members of the movement against police brutality defaced his family’s pickup truck because it displayed pro-police messages and symbols. He raised nearly $6,000 to help pay for repairs to the truck after a relative set up a GoFundMe account, the report says. Additionally, car dealers and body shops offered to pitch in to make repairs.

Lattin organized the fundraiser after claiming last week that vandals spray-painted “Black Lives Matter” across his truck as well as “F*ck the police” because he had decorated the vehicle with the phrase “Police Lives Matter” in support of Harris County Deputy Darren Goforth, who was shot and killed at a gas station last month. Both authorities and conservatives have attempted to connect Goforth’s death with the movement, seemingly without any evidence.

Detectives also found packets of cocaine in Gliniewicz’s desk after he offed himself on Sept. 1 and they suspect he may have been plotting to plant the drugs on Marrin.

Then everyone you know was probably an rear end in a top hat to the cops and were "arrested" for something else. Or what you say is straight up untrue. Occam's razor and everything.

When I was younger, I drove after being out at the bars when I was college. I was pulled over, asked to take a breathalyzer, and came in under by a couple tenths (it was .10 at the time, I blew a .08). The cop said he couldn't arrest me for DUI, but he could make sure I took a taxi home. Being a cop in a college town, you better believe if he had the latitude to "arrest me on the spot" blowing what I did, he would have.
Look up "just world hypothesis", it's a psychological bias that makes people think that when bad things happen to others they must have deserved it. Also your single experience sure invalidates literal decades of police abusing their power, it simply didn't happen, because you weren't arrested that one time.

How does the forum determine whether a pasted img will be clad in just img tags or img AND url tags?

Tiggum posted:

Imgur generates smaller version of pictures with the same url plus a letter, (h, l, m or s) so if the image name ends with one of those letters then the forums assume it's a shrunk version and tries to link to the full-sized version. For example, if I paste the URL http://i.imgur.com/5fYGKAG.jpg I get this:

Thank you!
