The schadenfreude is me. I spent the past few months slowly working my way through the last thread and this and now I have to wait for real-time updates.

Brothers who mocked judge over suspended sentence in obscene Facebook posts jailed for two years

Two criminals given suspended sentences after showing remorse in court. Afterwards they immediately mock the judge on Facebook for being so lenient. Judge sees it, calls them back for a sentence review and sends them down for two years as they were clearly not remorseful at all.

Why is no one talking about the fact that the judge is wearing a powdered wig?

And a weird one at that! It looks like a cut up door mat.

Lupus from an insect bite? That...doesn't seem likely.

Well truth be told we really don't know what causes most auto immune diseases. The general paradigm is that we think genetically susceptible individuals suffer an inciting event such as an illness (or perhaps an insect bite) which provokes an immune response and the auto immunity is an accidental side effect. It might even be a viral illness that goes unnoticed, for example. This doesn't at all seem impossible. Not saying that's definitely the case, just saying it's within reason.

Okay so I see the dress as white and gold, and I see the jacket as green and brownish/goldish. My girlfriend sees the reciprocal stuff, but the thing I don't understand is that in both cases if you just crop the picture to a single portion without the context of the rest of the picture, she sees the colors as I see them. I really want someone to explain this phenomenon to me. I am only able to see the colors identifiable absent context, and I just don't understand it.

I can see that in that image, but with the dress thing it's not the same thing. That comparison image someone posted is just the same blue and black dress except in the lighter image the black looks less black. I hate whoever uploaded that stupid loving dress image to the internet.

I agree except that the dress is white and gold for me no matter what.

Joseph Pryor is one of the men who can be seen screaming in the video, and he posted a screenshot of himself screaming at the woman as his Facebook cover photo, apparently quite proud of his hateful act. Word of his actions reached his superiors, and he was promptly released from the Marine Corps training program he was attending.

Delicious.

The notion that battlefield courage translates to political courage, and by extension that you're not allowed to question the political courage of someone who displayed courage on the battlefield, is wrongheaded. Max Cleland voted for the Iraq war because (in his own admission) he feared not being re-elected, and also voted for the PATRIOT act. Dan Inouye pried a live grenade out of the hand of his own severed arm and killed Japanese with it, and was also a serial sexual harasser in Congress. And we all know what a giant douche John McCain is as a politician.

John McCain is one of a select few GOP politicians I respect. Don't agree with him, but by and large I think he's one of the best examples of loyal opposition you could hope for.

I remember being 16 and thinking I was a really good driver. :cripes: You shouldn't be able to drive until you're 18 at least.

I realize this entails a lot of logistics and that 16 year olds need to get places and that this would probably disproportionately impact people of color and poor people. I'm just saying if we had better public transportation, etc.

Yeah as another poster mentioned, net neutrality requires e.g. Verizon to allow equal bandwidth for accessing XHamster and PornHub, but says nothing about PornHub allowing equal bandwidth for connections from South Carolina vs North Carolina.

Oh what? The AG simply refused to defend HB2 saying it was unconstitutional. What happens if an AG won't defend a law? Does the governor appoint someone else for the case or something?

At least piss is sterile. Cleaning up blood and poo poo would be a "seeya" situation.

It comes out of the body sterile, but it doesn't remain sterile for any substantial amount of time. Great breeding ground for bacteria.

Why would it be sterile? The human body is like 1:1 for human cells to other poo poo.

Right but bacteria live in places like your lungs and gastrointestinal tract which directly receive contents from the outside world. It's different in other parts of the body. Urine is sterile unless you have an infection, and even then urine cultures are often negative. This study found that urine culture had sensitivity of 73%, meaning that out of 100 women who had a UTI, 27 had urine cultures which showed no detectable bacterial growth.
