I remember playing this as a kid, earning 20-30 lives in the first three worlds and then losing all of them in the snow levels.   I think I made it a bit further in the Game Boy Color version, but I've never finished this or any other DKC game. 2D platformers and me don't get along very well. I still love the music in this game, though, and even though people like to hate on the prerendered visuals these days I still think it looks nice.
