The restructuring process under Erin is a good thing. Companies, especially young ones can undergo a restructuring each year depending on the business, market situation etc.
They are hiring more staff all together and they are trying to reduce costs, no sogns of a financially troubled company.

Didn't the entire design team walk out?

That's not really "restructuring"

Karl - I used to be a Grand Admiral.
The "used to be" is the redeeming part.
Think about many of the people you trusted to deliver the project. Where are they? How many are gone? Why did they go? Do you really believe there is smoke without fire?
What happened to dissent? The promises to engage with "concerns"? They got shunted to a "concern forum" that barely made it into "Star Citizen" at all. When was the last time devs responded to ANYTHING in there?

We are 90 million+ in, and still no FPS delivery and no admission of a mega botchup SOMEWHERE. You think they are being entirely honest with us? Remember promises of being shown things "as they actually were"?
Remember the "We won't take any funds until SC is delivered" statement from CR? Do you believe they are taking a wage? Do you believe this?
Still no real way of explaining how the economy will work, mudflation will be handled? Do you think they are really thinking ahead enough, or bumbling, imperfectly through a one-man decision making funnel called Chris?
When exactly do you believe the PU will ever be delivered? Still ships are being released on concept and still people are being milked more.
Change of terms of service on the sly? Rewriting hundreds of lines without proper notification? Official silences on embarrassing yet crucial questions?

Wake up.

Karl, you too can set yourself free. (Unless you bought an ungiftable mega pack of course.)
In which case, you might still be able to cash out at 80%.
No game is worth that much. You hear that tiny voice in your head saying "you spent too much"? The voice is right. Listen to it now. You'll thank us.

If someone can read the history of Freelancer's development and not immediately see the exact same things happening in SC, and realise that no publisher is going to bail them out like MS did back then, then they're beyond help.

WEEKLY DEVELOPMENT UPDATE

Is this a real loving thing?

So let me get this straight, CIG relies on one guy working so hard that his absences would cause a 3+ week delay on a revision that is 2 weeks from release? It should be so close to ready that not having 1 programmer out of a crew of a hundred shouldn't even matter, let alone delaying it for 3 or more weeks if he isn't replaced immediately.

Anyone who still has money in this is a god drat loving moron.

The fact that one generic programmer (or maybe he was an AI specialist or something, doesn't really matter) breaking his wrists cost a $90+ million company 3 weeks on the timeline should be a giant red flashing light and loud as hell siren going off in your head to stay the gently caress away.

Wagyu burgers are dumb, sure there's some taste difference, but the point of Wagyu is it's highly marbled in the loin area. Burger patties are made from trimmings and cheap primal cuts like chucks and blades where the marbling is minimal, but people argue they have a stronger "beefier" flavour. The majority of the fat in a burger patty is going to be from the outside fat cover and it isn't going to give that same creamy buttery texture a Wagyu steak has

There's a big difference between "they could spend time and energy implementing this if they wanted to" and "this capability exists in the game, right now, and could be used."

The capability of having maps of equal size with Elite (or any other multiplayer game out there) is currently extant in the game--it would not require any additional engine changes to have a system the same size as Elite's, only for a map designer to make a map with boundaries that wide.

Yeah man, all you need to do to make a map bigger is just grab the corner and drag the borders out!

Call in an expert witness to testify how long it takes to make a AAA game, compare the scope lists of them vs Star Citizen, and you'd have a pretty hard time convincing even an educated layperson that they've been pissing away the money on coke and booze instead of game development ("in addition to" is also another :can:).

They bought a mo-cap studio, then outsourced the mo-cap work (while still owning the studio they bought I think?) and are now building a new mo-cap studio.

If that isn't pissing money up a wall I don't know what is.

3. Each ticket takes a minimum of a week to complete and only 1 ticket can be open at any one time.
4. They're trying to stall it out as much as possible because they can't afford to lose the money.

Any one of those things should set off alarm bells in peoples heads that either the company is being incredibly poorly managed, or they've pissed away $100m.

We're talking about support tickets for a game that's not released and only has ~1 million donators/customers, people would be losing their jobs over repose times like that in any other customer support team.

Chris used the kickstarter as proof of concept to get the big boys in and I'm not talking about millionaire spergs I'm talking about certain well know graphics card companies and certain well know 3d software companies.

Oh I agree with the underlings not knowing where the money is because of the convoluted setup of 16 different companies across multiple countries, but raising $3mil in the last month or two seems legit based on what they were doing.

Rich people hire other people to deal with details, they just tell the people they employ what they want and leave it to them to work it out.

I'm not saying Chris Roberts is rich, more that every action he takes is along the stereotypical lines that a rich person who has a lot yes men around him would take. Like outsourcing your motion capture work when you already own a motion capture studio yourself.
