So I haven't gotten my money yet and when I emailed to complain I got an automated email which means my old ticket was closed. It wasn't paid for through paypal so how do I get the Derek in on this? My refund was supposedly actioned on October 6th.

quote:

Thank you for your patience thus far. I am happy to confirm that I have actioned the refund for $250.00 USD via PayPal Send Money. This can take 5-10 working days for the funds to appear. Should you have any further questions or concerns let me know. :)

As this was a complete refund your account has been permanently de-activated. Should you wish to return in the future you can create a new account with the same details.

It's not through paypal and I don't think my bank is going to take an almost 3 year old chargeback seriously, besides I'm not gonna be in Denmark for another two months anyway to do the paperwork.

Refund update #whothefuckknows:

After requesting my refund on September 25th the fiasco is finally over. I am free.

CIG went from, "we owe you nothing" to "we'll give you $45 spacebux back" and finally to "okay, we give up, here's what you asked for." so in 5-10 days I will finally have my money back.

:gary:

Mine was actioned 5 weeks ago. Nada.

My refund just came through after almost two months. I can finally breathe easy I guess. Since this was money already spent, I decided to at least do something useful with a chunk of it and holy poo poo I'm free!

Yeah, I've been following that one, but not too closely though. It looks interesting, but I don't think it's going to capture the essence of what it really means to command a capital ship. Into The Stars also tried it, but completely blew it.

Into the stars isn't a game. It's several mobile mini games frankensteined together to create an abomination.

Crysis had a reputation for being really pretty at the cost of spontaneously combusting computers. Exactly because of the combustible "feature" Chris latched onto it as the best option because obviously it's not coded poorly, it's just better.

I'm 100% convinced that was the logic because everyone everywhere had the same reaction to the Crysis engine choice and it was "really? Eh, I guess. But unreal would be better".

can someone explain to me in laymans terms why they are so big? the patch notes read like they're more of coding issues, which I can't imagine is something that takes gigs upon gigs unless they're also adding assets to the game, which of course they're not.

Is it just optimized trash that includes a bunch of redundant stuff for the end user or what? I know nothing about game development

They don't have a proper patching tool and any change to a file necessitates downloading it again in it's entirety.

Edit: What this means is that when they add a bathroom door to a ship, they stuff it in the existing assets file. Since the patcher can't patch, the launcher downloads the entire 10gig assets file with the new door in it.

seems like a great idea to release an "alpha" version of an mmo without patching support but 1,000,000 citizens cant be wrong!

It proves that they don't have anything resembling a proper development pipeline. Because this is a Crysis mod and not a real game.

I am fully expecting CIG to ask for $50+ for SQ42 (Chapter 1? Chapter 2,3,4 will be DLCs?) from everyone when/if it comes out. claiming "Technically its not Star Citizen, its a standalone spinoff!". I will be laughing so hard.

Edit: It would be even more hilarious when they go ahead and move SQ42 and everything supporting it into a new company, lets say ROG (Rip Off Gaming), and bid CIG farewell and let it sink.

Chris Roberts taking a beat from the construction sector and engaging in vulture capitalism would be the best thing. Even better if he does what my old boss did and let it sink right before payday.

LOL if you don't think half of CIGs fundraising has just been money laundering

The thing about criminal enterprises is that they don't really give a poo poo about loss, all they care about is keeping the train running for as long as possible. A popular laundering method for biker gangs over here are solariums and tattoo parlors where people often pay in cash, you can vastly over inflate your income with illicit money, happily pay the taxes and get legit money to fuel your lavish lifestyle. For CIG I'm sure it's a lot like political campaign finance. You pay your friends consulting firms at over inflated rates with backer/donor money and pocket it. For campaigns the preferred method is buying books to give away for free, for CIG it's probably studio rentals.

CIG has used their money hilariously on stuff like the mocap studio and whatever the hell they're doing over in England with Chris's gangster friends.

I think Peter Molyneux got too influenced by executive culture. A snappy and light mobile game built on an old and popular IP is something people will just love! But if you know anything at all about PC gamers you're gonna need at least zombies if you wanna poo poo out a mobile. Plus he doesn't realize how toxic his name is when it comes to poo poo like this. Molyneux could have made Clicker Heroes and it would have bombed because that's not the kind of title people expect from him.

They're using a classic double-standard. If it sucks, it's because it's pre-alpha and we're letting you peek behind the curtain before it's all ready as evidence of our ongoing progress, and our totally open development. But if you want a refund, or want to know where Star Marine is, then suddenly it's a significant portion of the game, refund denied, and Star Marine is already in the game.

Of course there's a third shell over in the UK, and the pea (SQ42) is actually under that one. It's all anyone will ever get, if they get anything at all.

They'll toss something resembling a game out the door with the SQ42 logo on it, say their Kickstarter obligations have been met and close up shop. Nobody is going to sue them over it, certainly not Derek Smart.

...and so it was on 07/06/15 that I wrote my first Star Citizen blog, Interstellar Citizens.

Since that time, amid the dreams, the lies, and the deceit, coming from the company, a lot about this disastrous project has been written, spoken, and speculated. What most people don't know is just how bad things are or that they have unequivocally lost EVERY penny they put into this project.

And through all that, I stand firm on the opinion I made back in July 2015 that "Star Citizen, as has been pitched, will never get made. Ever.".

Now, in year five and over $111M, it exists as nothing more than a glorified tech demo. It's not a pre-alpha. It's not alpha. It's not a beta. It's not a game. It's none of those things. It's a glorified CryEngine mod.

The protracted false advertising of a product in order to make money from hapless gamers, is tantamount to consumer fraud. Look it up.

Events set in motion about two weeks ago, but which have been brewing since last year, have now sealed the fate of this project. It is unrecoverable. It is unavoidable. It is an E.L.E. And it is about time we as gamers, knew the truth.

I have always stated that there is absolutely NO version of this, where they get away with this. Yet people think that these things just get resolved over night. It takes time to get to the bottom; then you have to sort through the chum. It's a process.

And I have a response to that in this encrypted code that's been working it's way through these past few days.
