Over a month since refund request was submitted.

33 days since I got anything other than an automated "We haven't forgotten about you!" reply to my ticket.

Is there anyone out there with a ticket number higher than 133k that's gotten their poo poo resolved yet?

I was about $600 in and sold most of my stuff for profit. All I have left worth refunding is a Redeemer and some hangar flair that probably equals out to around $320. I've only gotten one "Are you sure?" response and 3 more automated "We haven't forgotten about you!" emails with zero replies to the other 4 emails I've sent.

I initiated a dispute through Paypal yesterday and am honestly surprised to have not heard anything back yet given how quickly they seem to jump into gear when chargebacks/paypal disputes are mentioned.

Somehow all of my gifting amounts exceed the amount spent on the account so I don't rate a refund. Store credit doesn't count as refundable stuff and they didn't include items bought through the Voyager store.

I know LTI Bounty Hunter packages weren't $120 (Which they cited in the email back) so I'm going to sit down tonight and run the numbers myself before I fire off a reply disputing their shoddy math and pick-and-choose method for deciding what's refundable. Also pushing the paypal dispute up to an investigation.

What a lovely day.

That sounds incredibly scammy. How much do they owe you in total?

I haven't actually done the math on what's still in the account but it's just a Redeemer and some VD store items, mostly hangar flair. I was expecting less than $400.

The account is listed at $740 spent but by their math I've gifted/received/melted over $780 worth of stuff so nothing is refundable. I mean, if you melt something for store credit, store credit is still cash monies. (Which is what the Redeemer was bought with, using melted funds from ships I had purchased, not been gifted)

The whole reason it comes off as sketchy as gently caress to me is because I bought my best friend a Bounty Hunter package back in early late 2012 early 2013 and that's all that I bought him. Yet it shows the bounty hunter package as being worth $120 (They were $65) and then a separate "gifted item" with no name and only a transaction number valued at $40. So there's easily $100 right there that they're misrepresenting.

Like I said, I'll do the math when I get home tonight since I can't get to it from work and report back on my findings.

This is noted in the email from Patrick. Obviously it's not something worth doing because there is maybe one person on my list of people I gifted poo poo to who wasn't a grey market trader.

I made more money off of the grey market than I spent on the game itself so it's not an issue worth taking them to court over. However, I would like them to refund me the value of the Redeemer and all VD store content. That's all I wanted to begin with.

They're also not responding to Paypal disputes. I've emailed Paypal directly now and have gone through to dispute every CIG transaction in my account history now.

RE: VD Store items - No current account access. No account access will be available until roughly 1600EST tonight.

I know the melt value of the Redeemer and I've probably got maybe $60-70 worth of VD store bought stuff. Like I originally said, I was expecting less than $400 back but was just kind of shocked that they've somehow decided that nothing on the account was actually refundable.

Kind of like the last property management company I had to deal with. $1200 deposit and they somehow find $1500 worth of repairs that need to be done. I took them to small claims court over it but that was because it was legit money I couldn't afford to lose at the time. CIG is not worth taking to small claims court over, especially given the likely difference in state laws (North Carolina -v- California) and relatively small amount of money that's in the mix.

All I want is the cost of the Redeemer and the VD store items refunded to me. I'm going to reply with as much and then point out their obvious lapse in memory over the $120 Bounty Hunter package and random $40 mystery transactions that they cite.

Refund update:

So I went through my account a bit and found where Patrick made his mistakes. So I sent this letter back to him:

LCL-Dead posted:

Patrick,

While I greatly appreciate your offer, there are some issues I'd like to point out with the transactions you selected.

Order #556776 was not then, nor is now, a $120 package.

Order #998208 was an LTI swap. No money was spent and therefore does not contribute to the overall "money spent" amount. You can double check this yourself.

Order #1356130 was also an LTI swap and does not represent any of the $740 spent on the account. You can verify this yourself on the billing page of my account, where it says "Amount: USD $0.00"

Those three orders alone represnt $255 that you miscounted. My account has a huge and complex history, I don't blame you for that minor mistake. I've spent the last 20 minutes going over every reclaim and gift on it and have been kicking myself in the rear end the entire time.

With that being said, that brings your original $780 down to $535 which, conveniently, leaves us very close to the actual amount I was looking to be refunded. That amount is the cost of the Redeemer Gunship sitting in my Hangar, which I melted everything I had AND added $20 to in order to buy and for the $20 spent on UEC for the various hangar flair items I purchased last year.

It's not much, not nearly $740, which even now I regret spending but it's what I have left and I would like out of this game. I would also like for you to explain to me where in your TOS it states that customers aren't due back their entire expended amount of funds, because I can't find it.

I'd like for that explanation to arrive before my account is closed and I am refunded, please.

Tried to be cordial since I know they're dealing with a ton of poo poo, which was hard given how loving long I've been waiting for a reply from CIG (45+ days), only to receive a "Sorry, you can't get a refund because of X" reply.

As a side note, this was the last email I received from CIG:

CIG CS Patrick posted:

Hi there

Thanks for your mail and please excuse the rather extreme delay of my reply.

I have checked out our account and have found the following to be non-refundable:

* Pledge ID 728571 - Imperator Prime Pass x1 - $20.00
* Pledge ID 463956 - Centurion Pass x1 - $10.00
* Pledge ID 1525509 - Cutlass + Bonus - LTI - $100.00 - gifted to '[Redacted]'
* Pledge ID 1452003 - $40.00 - gifted to '[Redacted]'
* Pledge ID 1393792 - Anvil Hornet - LTI - $110.00 - gifted to '[Redacted]'
* Pledge ID 1383438 - Weekend Warrior - LTI - $180 - gifted to '[Redacted]'
* Pledge ID 1356130 - Next Generation Aurora - $45.00 - gifted to '[Redacted]'
* Pledge ID 998208 - Digital Colonel - LTI - $155.00 - gifted to '[Redacted]'
* Pledge ID 556776 - Digital Bounty Hunter - LTI - $120.00 - gifted to '[Redacted]'

The above reduce your maximum possible account refund by **$780.00**. Given your account's 'total spend' of **$740.00**, I am not able to offer you a refund.
Note that credits received to your account in form of pledges originating from other accounts cannot, of course, be refunded to you.

In cases such as these, I would offer the exception to return pledges you have gifted away back to you to bolster what we can refund. However, the onus would be on you to contact the receivers of these gifts. They, in turn, have to reach out to us, granting us permission to remove the specific pledge in question.

The problem we have here is that most of your gifts have already been either gifted on or reclaimed for store credits by the recipients and used in other orders, which makes this option impossible.

I am very sorry for the disappointment this may cause you.

Sounds like you are kind of poo poo out of luck. You did give them funds and then you basically told them to give that money to someone else.

This was all part of the LTI scare in November of 2013 or 2014 when they said they were going to do away with LTI for good.

You take a ship you don't have LTI for, send it to a OB or VB classed backer, that person melts it down for the funds and re-purchases the ship with LTI on it (Since new accounts couldn't buy LTI at the time but older accounts could) and then send it back to the original person. It doesn't count towards the "amount spent" portion of your billing statement on the CIG website but shows up as a transaction none-the-less.

For each case where Patrick sited one of those transactions, of the dozens on my account, he missed the original gift reclaim by me. So I never spent money and the money I got from reclaiming the gift went right back out within 20 minutes. Therefore being a null value on the "poo poo you paid for and gifted out" list.

This was also back when there were still high hopes for the game.
