They were saying the fps would be improved because they're gonna LAN it and even if that's true its just awful.....like all the clipping, desync, animation fuckups, bugs galore are still gonna be there for everyone to see. The forums are on fire because CIG disabled all the HUDs for most of their ships because they expect the players to use the MFDs. The problem is the MFD's are unreadable/nonfunctional for most ships and helmets obscure them further. Also TrackIR is disabled.

Another tidbit I learned while lurking there is that Arena Commander is dead. They have a leaderboard that you get entered into if you play even one game. Patch 2.1 had 900 entries. 2.4 has 350 entries. 1.4 million citizens strong.

Everything would have to be redone and a new engine built etc. They have massive technical and likely legal liability. It makes an infinite amount of sense to just make a new IP without all the baggage.
