Najma really gets antsy about the idea of a hunter she doesn't really know like Cali rolling around the city. Mystic knowledge and arcane force isn't much good at keeping your head from getting splattered open from five blocks away.

Naomi's current investigation is a missing persons case. Simple on paper - a local man, Donald Cairns, met with Georgia Carver (a woman Naomi has pegged as a Vamp), after a tryst at a nightclub, and then disappeared. Sounds open and shut, right, just another leech getting so prey? Except that Donald was pretty well known to be a courier for the creatures of the Night, and wasn't acting like a man who'd gotten into trouble, so there's some mystery there. And dammit, Naomi can't pass up a chance to find the real truth behind a situation...

Go ahead and roll the start of session moves in here. Everyone has the roll +faction from the rumor-related faction, and some of you have start-of-session rolls.

EDIT: Right, not everyone has the book and it's not written in the move sheet IIRC.

Start of Session:

At the beginning of every session, announce which character your character trusts the least; their player will spotlight a Faction for
your character (that isn’t already marked). Mark that Faction. Tell the MC about a rumor or conflict that you’ve heard about that Faction,
building on previous established information if you’d like, and roll with the Faction.

On a 10+, you’re prepared for the conflict you laid out: you’ve got a Debt on someone in that Faction or a useful piece of information or
equipment, your choice. On a 7-9, you’re neck deep in it: you owe someone in that Faction a Debt, and someone in that Faction owes
a Debt to you. On a miss, you’re caught flat-footed, unprepared, or unaware: the MC will tell you who is coming at you.

There's been some hearsay passing through town recently - apparently there's some manner of fortune-teller in Vegas. Normally I would pay roughly no attention to such a statement, but some regulars of mine, and some members of my "Fan Club" who I know to be particularly honest and skeptical of such matters swear that she is startlingly accurate. I haven't gotten a name - not a real one, but she apparently conducts business under the name Madame Romalda. She doesn't keep a regular place of business or anything of the sort, but I have put feelers out - if she can be found, and if she's for real, she could lead me to the pearl, couldn't she?

The one who brought me this information? A young jittery man by the name of Paul Romanowski. Not my normal clientele, he was looking for some way to beat the odds at the Craps table. Supposedly this fortune-teller had told him it wasn't in the cards. Well, one of my waitresses (whose in Club Pearl), named Felicity said I could get him anything, even good luck. So now I have to think of some way to provide that to him - maybe a bribe or something; certainly his information isn't worth a charm of any sort - unless it checks out.

Remember how I mentioned that Rupert is never happy? He's actually got a good reason for his newest temper tantrum. His guild - and most of the other ones in town, from what I've heard - are losing apprentices and agents to some powerful newcomer to town called Duke Van Cleef. Still not sure if Duke is his name, nickname, or a title... anyways, he apparently dresses like a cowboy and has a quick temper, even quicker trigger finger. Wizards sure do seem to love costumes, it's hilarious. Rupert and the other Guilds want me to talk to him, convince him to work within their system if I can, and the Summer Court wants this too. But like... I am having a bitch of a time tracking him down - and I'm starting to think he knows I'm looking to meet with him, but just doesn't care. Whatever, I promised I'd try.

Word on the street is that there's trouble afoot with the were-breeds. Rumour has that the boss wolf Ivan Antonvich is going soft in his old age. So it's only a matter of time before someone tries to gut him from his own pack and take his place. Already had a few discreet enquiries about if I do were-wolves. Surprisingly no one's offered me a contract on the big guy yet. It's all knock off this or that rival. I guess everyone out there is jockeying for position . Even heard rumours that the various other were-types might be planning something of a coup. Las Vegas used to were-coyote territory years ago who knows what it might be soon. Looks like we're about to live in "Interesting times"

But of personal interest to me is a certain lady friend of mine. Stephanie Greene knew her extremely well back in the day. If you know what I mean. Seems someone's convinced she's going to be one of the top dogs so to speak when the old man bites it. She swears she's not interested but wants whoever spreading these rumours about her to stop. So she called in an old favour with me. I owe her big time for putting me up after that hit in '93 went wrong so of course I said yes. She said there were a couple of suspects but I should probably start with Alexi Borikov Apparently i'm not her only old flame and he runs the guns the wolves use when they bother to use guns at all so he might know something.

Nicki is a scary woman. Er, dragon. She gets very upset when you don't refer to her as a dragon. I don't know the specifics, and she's awful secretive. I didn't even know who she was until she contacted me out of the blue last year to help me with my research, but she never said what she wanted in exchange. Just that "I owe her." No idea how she knew I was desperate for help or anything, either. I can't help but hope she forgot about it, but I know that's just wishful thinking. It's the only thing that's all the same about those Wildsiders: they never forget a debt.

Since then, I've done some snooping, and it turns out that there ARE some dragons who reincarnated as people. Not really sure what she wants, but... I owe a dragon a debt. That's gonna be fun to sort out, I'm sure.

Laz is a lot more straightforward. He's clearly a pixie, even if he's large enough to get by as a child when he hides his wings under a shirt. Don't let those looks fool you, though. He's a real hardass, but he owes me a solid since I cleared his name in a theft last month. He was blamed for stealing a statuette from some big vampire kingpin, but I tracked down the stolen statuette as being stolen by the vamp's own right hand man. Some weird undead politics power play, I think. Didn't make sense to me, and made even less sense to Laz. He was just glad he wasn't gonna be drained dry.

Anyway, right now, I've been looking into a bad batch of Pixie Dust that recently hit the streets. No fatalities yet, but a lot of mortals are in the psych ward. It's not an epidemic or anything, but... it's best to nip something like this in the bud.

And I sure don't want to see how bad it can get.

I mentioned I was checking into the Casinos, yeah? Trying to find the one from the video, track down Miranda. So I've been going into each one. Investigating. Now this one, "Pirate's Booty" wasn't the right one. Completely different decor inside. But when I was talking to the people who worked there, and some of the patrons, over alcohol and poker chips, turns out, the entire staff is new. Month later, same thing, new staff. Talked to the patrons, same thing a month before, and the month before. Now, either they keep firing people to keep wages down, or somethings happening to them. And as no one can seem to find anyone who used to work there, I think its the latter. Been trying to find out what I can about the place, who owns it, who keeps making the staff vanish. Found a few occult symbols hidden in the decor too. Bad sign.

The vamps have a trade, I hear, something about girls coming into vegas and never coming out. Parties were people who came without anyone else disappear. All my life, I had heard the stories, but never made the connections, I figured they were drugged out idiots and ended up on a bender down in Reno. The truth is a bit more insidious after all, now I was in a world were bloodsucking predators were a literal component and worst of all in my faction. They have a little cattle trade you might say, the local pack has connections into the trade, but for the most part keeps to itself. Wolves are all about maintaining territory, not really invading when it seems morally objectionable.

Well, I ain't your normal loving werewolf. I give way to much of a poo poo when it isn't my turn too. I do know that there is a single vamp that is lead of the trade a Rochester Von Holstein one of those rich assholes that help run a casino but does the logistics for the bloodbag cattle trade and storage. I believe he might have also a facility running a loving breeding program. Now that poo poo, is just loving deplorable. I had to meet a low level vamp name of Hubert Rothchilds and make a deal with him for that information. I hope that I can at least curtail the bloodsuckers at least got a bit of pull on a local vamp named of Marcy Collens newly turned, who been trying to find her sister.

Alright, so I'm officially sick of calling things X Faction, so now we're going to come up with names for them. This is collaborative, but I'm gonna put some ideas out there just to start the discussion.

Mortality should be something to do with building and maintaining. I'm thinking something like Architects, but there's definitely better names out there.
Night's primary function is criminal, so I'm thinking the (Something) Syndicate, (Something) Consortium or some generic grouping of criminals. Even if Garrett is a cop, he's clearly not the main point of his faction currently.
Power is probably going to end up being the Council, but there may be something more fancy to include the Council in.
Wild is the weird one, as usual. There's a reason I've been asking lots of questions about fae, because I'm not good at thinking of this on my own.

Suggestions? Help name the Wild grouping?

Power could be the Cabal or Consilium (fancy Latin turn for council!)

Wild could be like, The Manifold or Menagerie to show they're so varied?

I say spruce it up a little bit, but I like what Noun's putting down.

So like,

"The Architects of the [blank]" for mortality (was thinking Monolith but that's a faction in some other RPG somewhere), something to do with industry or maybe something Vegas-y
"The Bloodmoon Syndicate" for Night, cuz it sounds dangerous and also easily points to the two main splats in the Night faction. Something edgy but in a gangland sort of way.
"The Consilium Aeternus" for Power (aka, the Eternal Council) - or something else latin and powerful sounding. Definitely Consilium though.
"The ____ Menagerie" for Wild (maybe like, Carnivale?) something to show that all the Wild people tend to be pushers and salespeople and seem to like partying.

Capfalcon

I like Consilium, as most wizards are sure to be the kind of people who use Latin for everything because wasn't Cicero so dreamy. Najma might intentionally call it the Council because she thinks they're dumb. If you want a more spruced up name, Consilium Sapientis (lit. Council of Wise Men) is both pretensions and sexist enough that I could see it being said with 100% seriousness. Also, it's an another name for the council of men who ruled the Venetian Republic for about 600 years, acting as a completely corrupt oligarchy that only looked out for their own interests. Namely, personal wealth and prestige.

Also, why not go for the classics and just call Mortality the Masons? :v:

Alright, so here's how we're calling the factions from here on out. We can add silly nicknames along the way, but these are the names used so far. Note that you, as PCs, can decide how strongly you're tied into each one, but that you need to have at least passing ties to someone involved. Either a sponsor, a fiefdom or something else like that.

Mortality: The Masons' Lodge
Night: Bloodmoon Syndicate
Wild: Menagerie
Power: Consilium Sapientis

Also, please update the NPC list if you make new NPCs. Also, if you're not trying to make a new NPC, please make it clear to me, or else my silly mind will make more NPCs to viciously destroy. :D
