Their owner fired all the coaches immediately after the game because his son was on the team and he thought he wasn't getting enough playing time. The other players, including the owner's son, responded by going to his office, tossing their jerseys on the floor, and quitting. I don't have anything to add but want to note that I have read this and am still trying to process it.

These things always interest me: Amalgamated rankings, which this time includes a look at how different lists change over time. Matthews has established himself as a clear #1, which you would expect from his start in Switzerland, and then you have what looks like a consensus 2-5 of Matthew Tkachuk, Patrik Laine, Jesse Puljujarvi, and Jakub Chychrun although each one has been ranked #2 by someone.

Went to the Knights game last night, and had a pretty good time. Unfortunately Tkachuk and Juolevi were sitting, but that meant a more prominent role for some guy called Victor Mete. Neither of us had heard of him before but he was very impressive, and is draft eligible this year. Given his ties to Hunter, his role as a slightly smaller skating offensive defenceman, and his slot in the late first round (ish), I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up on Toronto if the Leafs get the Pens' pick. Oh yeah and Mitch Marner is really good.

I went to the Fronts-Steelheads game yesterday, which was good and fun and Kingston lost despite outshooting Mississauga 39-24. The Steelheads have three potential first round picks (none of whom are Sean Day) and they all play on a line together — Alex Nylander, Mike McLeod, and Nathan Bastien. Nylander looked amazing, the best player for either team, and ended with two assists and an ENG. McLeod showed amazing skating at one or two points, but not much otherwise. Also there was a scout there and I think he might have been looking at Lawson Crouse specifically.

ThinkTank posted:How did Nate Bastien look? He's kinda the forgotten third wheel on that line but he's not garnering all that much attention despite NHL SIZE. Late first round seems to be the consensus for him, was he primarily a passenger or was he actually alright? He seemed to be fine — scored the first goal although it didn't really take anything special on his part. The line as a whole did quite well, and were the only part of Mississauga generating any offence. That said, among them, it seemed like Nylander was doing the the important bits of puck carrying and distribution. I looked Bastien up and he seems to be fairly old for the draft year, which to my mind would put a warning sign next to NHL SIZE.

OHL regular season wraps up today, although most teams are done already. Erie and London tied with 105 points. Erie had more wins, so they take first and play Saginaw. London gets the third slot and Owen Sound. In the other conference, Kingston (lol) won the conference running away with 97 points, and gets to play Oshawa. Could the Fronts make it out of the first round for the first time in like 25 years?
