Yeah, technically illegal. Don't worry, I got mod permission to make a thread about this.

I'm a sex worker, aka I suck dick for money. Because of my bisexuality and an actual diagnosed hyperactive libido, it was a decent fit, at least it seems that way for now. I know it's not something I'll do forever. I'm pretty new in the game but even in a smaller town around an hour or so away from the nearest major city, I'm doing well for myself and getting my rent paid on time. I'm prepared to answer any question as long as it doesn't involve me giving out any personal information about clients. I'm 20, and I'm male, so all of my clients are gay men. I've heard of straight male escorts with mostly female clients but the vast majority are gay who profit off the repressed gay men any decent-sized community has.

I'm also a musician and I make money off of that in addition to this. The hours are good with a job like this and I can spend that extra time on my music, and hopefully someday shift priorities over to my music and use that as a main source of income instead.

And if all else fails I could also make enough along with some federal stuff I qualify for to maybe go back to school, but because of reasons I won't go into I'm in some rough debt with that stuff (which contributed to all of this) so maybe not.

Without the money incentive they wouldn't be that good since typically the kind of people you attract are people who normally can't get some themselves.

Nope, both of them live half a country away from me, in different directions no less, so they don't need to know how I make money. They don't even know I'm not straight; they would barely approve of that, so they definitely don't want to hear about this.

Absolutely, legalizing it would do a bunch of things:

1. De-stigmatize it, at least a little bit. I'm using my body like anyone else would to do their job.
2. Makes it safer. A lot of the dangers surrounding a job like this is because there's no legal protection for both workers and clients.
3. Not a lot of people think about this one but it makes it so that a lot of workers don't have to jump through hoops to pay taxes and not get audited. Hey state workers, you know your salaries are paid for by taxes, right? Lemme help you out.

Also jsyk people are starting to move away from prostitution as a term, it's on the same level as hooker or whore nowadays. Use sex work or escorting in the future, if you can.

What was the moment when you decided to do this for money? Was it difficult 'breaking in', do you face any competition? How do you arrange services? Would you keep doing sex work if someone offered you an equivalent (hours/pay) "traditional" job?

Thanks for making the thread, these are always interesting at the minimum.

Thanks for making the thread, these are always interesting at the minimum.

I was real repressed sexually most of my life, and about a year ago I started posting pics of myself online, and people liked them, and I realized my body was something I could profit on, though I didn't make the jump until a few months ago.

It was a little hard breaking in just because I focused on doing as much research as I could, of how to do this job. I found communities of people that answered any question I could, though, and that made it a lot easier. It was more mental work than physical work, convincing myself that I could actually do this, and I wasn't making a terrible decision.

I don't really face any competition in my area because I fill a specific niche. Gay men usually like 2 body types and nothing else - small and twinky or big and hairy, and I am very solidly the former. And even then there's a sliding scale, between twinks, and femboys. And I'm very feminine already, completely on that side of the scale, and typically play it up even more for clients that like it, which I enjoy doing.

I arrange services mostly through backpage, clients will email me, I'll tell them my prices, and then I'll get info on where they are, and get their number. I call using a cheap phone I have that's not my main phone and we talk about what we wanna do together. My transportation's limited so if it's not within walking or cab distance I ask them to pick me up, deducting a bit from the payment for gas money.

It would depend what the job was. I've tried and can't do a whole lot of physical labor but if it was something that let me sit on my rear end a bit, then yeah, I'd probably give up sex work for it. But the whole reason I'm in this business in the first place is because the traditional job market has failed me enough times.

Ivan Yurkinov posted:

Turning one-offs into repeat clients is normally how sex workers make their money - it's all about finding those few people who just go nuts for whatever you're selling. And "know" is a pretty weird word because all I really know about them is their name, how big their dick is, and maybe what the inside of their room looks like. Which is fine by me because the kind of person that likes to rent out dudes for the night is probably the kind of person I don't want to be friends with.

Mostly the first one. Because they can't find an ideal partner with the body type I do so they settle for me.

I hear about straight guys testing the waters by getting a male escort to see how they like it but I've never had a client like that.

That reminds me though, of one of the funniest services a lot of escorts offer. I technically offer it too but I haven't gotten anyone who wants it.

The bf/gf experience, where basically you just act as their partner for the night, go out for dinner, maybe see a movie. There probably won't be any sex involved, just they've got to go on a date but can't get one on their own so they're okay paying someone to bring them on a fake date.

1. Anything that makes it harder and less safe for prospective sex workers is a bad thing.

2. I meant moreso that I'm not really interested in my job for friends I could be making, I'm here to do the job. I separate this job and my social life as much as I can.

The Law normally goes after clients instead of workers, which is still not something I agree with, but hey, it's not me. But other than that I do make sure I'm not accidentally falling into a trap.

And with taxes, I actually haven't gone through a tax season on this job yet, but there are things people have written up about how to do it. A lot of it just involves listing your occupation as "entertainer" or something but there's a few more steps.

Nah, I have a rainy day fund, it's the kind of job where there's dry spells so you gotta be prepared for that, and I keep a little in general savings too.

And there isn't really a local community here but there's definitely an online presence, especially among cammers and stuff. it's where I got started.

I worry about it coming back to bite me in the rear end, sure, but I also can't see myself going into a field where there'd be a lot of image upkeep? It's probably short sighted of me but I feel like this is more of a cross that bridge when I come to it situation.

A gun would be way too much. I bring a phone with some trusted friends at the ready but I haven't had to use it yet. Though that said some pepper spray wouldn't be a bad idea.

What do you do about STDs? If you are literally just doing oral sex I guess the rate of transmission is lower, but not so much that it wouldn't be a worry for most people.

You mentioned that your libido makes you a "better fit" for the job? I always thought someone who didn't give the slightest gently caress about sex would be the best sex worker, because they don't have to worry about flashbacks to some hairy trucker's heaving panniculus ruining the mood during sex with their actual partner. They might not be as good at acting, but then again not caring about serving coffee doesn't make the majority of baristas bad at giving service with a smile.

Tab8715 posted:

I know the OP said this wasn't his reason, but I don't really see this as difficult to understand. It's like how some people would be fine with being friends with a professional maid or nanny for a wealthy person but would be more reluctant to befriend a rich person who grew up with servants. They're not automatically dicks and they don't have to be banned from purchasing the service, but often people who do use the services can be more likely to have warped views on things. Typically to do with hierarchies in society. Or they're just harder to relate to if you're in the economic class that sells the service and not the one who can afford to buy it.

I do worry about STDs but I make sure everything is protected and I minimize risk as much as I can. Some guys really want to go bareback. I don't gently caress with (also, i just don't gently caress) those people.

And I do think my libido helps, if not necessarily in the actual performance, it does make me enjoy the job more. It's good to get some actual sexual release, especially as someone more submissive sexually. I have outlets for getting sex I enjoy more, too, but this helps.

I remember a big watershed moment for me is looking up like, average male masturbation rates, and from all the data I found, even when giving a modest bump to the average, I was still around 5 times above the average. So after that I started looking at my relationship with sexuality a little closer.

Well I'm not going out every day so it hasn't really halted any of that

And it depends what they want to do. If I'm just sucking them off, I won't orgasm for the most part. If they're up my rear end I might but it's not guaranteed. I'm not super attracted to any of my clients physically, but it's more the act I'm attracted to. I really like being submissive so being in any situation that lets me flaunt that side of me I'm really interested in. Ultimately it's about them being satisfied instead of me, and if that means they're the only ones that climax, so be it.
