the effect of watching it with your company and realizing that a lot of them are rape apologists might not be there though

Godholio posted:It's a long and complicated story, but the really short and incomplete version is that a dozen or so officers' careers are ruined because they were texting each other Miley Cyrus lyrics that raised suspicions of drug use. Phones were illegally seized, people were detained without representation, OSI agents threatened witnesses, it was a complete shitshow. The officers in question were instructor pilots who lost their wings and got paperwork (career ender for an O) and were on their way to being kicked out. Other officers who wrote memoranda as character references were also disciplined. Eventually all that was supposed to be reversed (we're going on 3 or 4 months and everything is still hosed) because everyone passed their drug tests and it became clear it was just a joke using loving song lyrics. But then the CSAF sent out a message that basically said "Anything you write or transmit is fair game, so watch what you say." So far this has gone legally unchallenged. what the gently caress, is there a good comprehensive read on this?

Even though that technically qualifies me, i dont know much about it and would like more information like the school(s) that i have to go through, what roles are performed, etc. I would ask my recruiter but he doesnt have much info besides whats already on the marine corps website dude worry about basic training before you worry about MARSOC and poo poo

so i'm dumb and just assumed MARsoC was like enlisting for army SF but I dont know all i know is that sitting there as a "vet" and having some kid tell you he was too elite for mainstream army was like a loving lol slap in the face.

Oh Hell No posted:I'm enlisting in the Air Force with an ADHD diagnosis but haven't filled a prescription or taken any medication (Adderall) in three years, and I haven't seen a doctor for anything relating to the diagnosis other than going over my old paperwork and writing a new prescription in ten years. I've been functioning perfectly fine at work and in everyday life since I stopped taking meds, but the recruiter said I'd still need a letter from a doctor saying that I no longer have problems with ADHD. Would just any GP be fine for that or should I go see a specialist to confirm that I am no longer a spastic 12-year-old? If its an affordable option go for the Specialist. GP could be fine, but when dealing with MEPs sometimes you got to deal with the Chief Med Officer like its a court room. They're usually GPs and poo poo too, so they might be me more willing to debate a GPs stance, but a Specialist letter would trump a gps. Stupid, right? Ask your recruiter for an example letter. Our CMO would kick back doctors letters if they weren't addressed "DEAR MEPS DOCTOR" and poo poo, leading to the applicant wasting more of their and the doctors time. my bff from the army was a sniper in 82nd and will probably need replacement hips before he's 50 lol. He just turned 30. edit: I should be clear I'm not talking poo poo, like its seriously on the table, its when, not if according to his medboard and doctors and stuff. It was apparently fun and you fast track for promotion it seems though so enjoy being a retarded E7 in 8 years or something.

I was 20 when I was in basic and there was a 32ish year old dude there and was like what the gently caress is this dude doing here. In retrospect that dude was pretty bad rear end and better than I was but it seemed crazy at the time.

have you spoken with a recruiter to see if you meet the basic qualifications anyhow? I'd do that before you get some fancy hopeful ideas.

seriously don't do chemical, I'm telling you. its 90% chance you're running a literal carwash with mops. You learn some cool stuff every once in awhile but no, don't, please. and it promotes like poo poo and is constantly being downsized and pushed off to reserve/guard units edit: CM officers are some of the worst officers in the US Army too, it's probably the least desirable designation you can get, which means it's like the people dead last in their ROTC program and poo poo. The absolute worst. edit2: I switched to recruiting which universally reviled as being AWFUL poo poo because it was an improvement over continuing with the chemical corps CHICKEN SHOES fucked around with this message at 02:31 on Apr 8, 2017 |

theres like 150 other mos's that arent chemical or accounting. Intel might not be bad, the 35 series seems ok if you can get the clearance. Hell honestly I'd rather have been a cook than chemical, it's probably more of a respected MOS with a real world mission.

Eh the AIT poo poo doesn't matter, thats a few months, I wouldn't base any decision on how long or where the AIT is at because that's like nothing, its a waste of time to even concern yourself with AIT edit: barring like, say, language poo poo because thats like 2 years CHICKEN SHOES fucked around with this message at 02:41 on Apr 8, 2017 |
