Sorry fo more wheelchair question but I'm taking it to my kids school trip tomorrow and I'm doing everything can man to more sure don't get stranded orclueless and the I know everything about it I found this video when looking for guides: https://youtu.be/nxX1WmbXB3c?feature=shared IT's titled battery install and removal but that is not the battery I have the manual calls it a battery case. What is does it hold a charge? it's shown being charged in the video. Can you confirm if the wheelchair you were given is actually the "Quickie Q50 Carbon" that you said yours looks like? If that is true, the battery can be removed by hand from the front of the wheelchair. You could bring extra batteries with you, and swap them much like you would change the battery on a power tool. What makes you think you have 3 batteries total? Could you have someone take a clear picture of the wheelchair and all the batteries / accessories? edit: I'm going to take a guess here. If you have the "Q50 Carbon" model, the front "battery case" has two battery slots on it, which each take a battery. If they gave you a battery for both slots, then you have 2 batteries, because the "battery case" itself contains no energy, it just holds the 2 batteries. The website says each 3-pound battery gives 7.5 miles range, so with both you should have around 15 miles range. But please have someone help you with some pictures so I can confirm! Glad I could help. If you had trouble making it up the 1-inch curb your first time using it, it may have simply been shipped with the batteries stored at a low charge % (this is common practice). Take both batteries out, and charge each all the way up with the charger. This is your manual... as they say, R.T.F.M.: https://www.sunrisemedical.com/getattachment/d126b6d9-6ddd-4a0b-a8ae-d1cf415ce804/.aspx It says that the two battery slots on the wheelchair are Slot A and B. If you're sitting in it, Slot A is your left-hand side. That's the only slot that pulls energy from the battery. Slot B is just to hold a battery, it has no electrical connection in it. So, they expect you to reach down and switch the two batteries if you run out of range. I can't find a single YouTube video demonstrating the battery swap. But, if you plug a single battery in and it works, that's the "active" slot, the other is the "storage" slot. edit: if you have a full charge and it still can't handle your curb, well, a curb going straight up, even just an inch, is still technically a 90-degree incline. I don’t have anything to offer except questions. Did you get a physical completed prior to separation and is that when you mentioned tinnitus? Or had you gone to an ear doctor before separation and gotten it diagnosed? I’ve had tinnitus for a while (blame it on a list of service related reasons), and I finally got it diagnosed at year 18, prior to going through the medical board for my retirement physical. Hoping that’s enough.

My tinnitus claim was so easy in 2008. But they clamped down bigtime. I think there's just some VA marching orders to give everyone a hard time now when they claim tinnitus, since so many vets used it as a free square before. IANAL and I'm no expert but it looks like the point of contention is in paragraph #4. They had someone examine you (maybe not a doctor, perhaps just a nurse practitioner is allowed?) and the examiner was probably asked by the VA "do you see proof of a link?!?!" and that person said "well no but..." and the VA said "cool thanks lol" and declined you. This "expert" might be told you're all malingering, they might not be a vet. In paragraph 2 "A direct grant of service connection requires...", you fulfilled all the criteria there (according to the Favorable Findings section) except that the examiner did not concur that it was service connected. Your beef is with their poo poo opinion. A lot of these examiners are cowards and always go with the safest option for themselves which is to shrug. Here's the rub. The favorable findings specifically says your MOS has a probability of military noise exposure. That *should* be enough to have tinnitus be "presumptive", as in, if you complain now, they ought to take your word for it (i.e. if you worked in the burn pits and complain about asthma right now, that's presumptive. It's basically a gimme). So yeah, absolutely appeal it, but I don't know the magic words. Maybe there's a local lawyer with experience in these claims (more importantly a track record of results and testimonials), who can prearrange for a more favorable second opinion? There's a lot of money on the table. Sorry they're dicking you over. My tinnitus ruling was the same. I plan on some kind of appeal, but I'm also going to appeal my kidney stone rating of 0% based on the 10% hydrophronesis "Only an occasional attack of colic, not infected and not requiring catheter drainage. (38 CFR 4.115a, 38 CFR 4.115b)" bit that they seem to have ignored in two of my post-service lithotripsies. I've got a regular doctor's appt coming up, so I plan on discussing tinnitus with him, and see if there's some kind of kidney function test I can do. I pee a lot, but I've always assumed it's because I drink so much water now...might as well find out for sure, since I technically piss often enough for 10% if it's traceable to a sufficiently poor glomerular filtration rate. It took over a year, but I finally have my HSA card so I might as well use it. My hearing test results don't show sufficient degradation, which is loving shocking to me. Maybe it's just the tinnitus loving it all up, but I don't know what the gently caress I'm doing, and frankly I'm unimpressed with the DAV so far. They incorrectly filled out the paperwork, so I ended up filling out half of it anyway, and the fucker got my hopes up on the hearing loss. I'll never see a dime of VA money anyway, I got separation pay and it'll literally take decades to offset that at 10%, assuming I win one of the appeals (HA). Human hearing goes up to about 20 kHz, but most sound tests top out at around 8 kHz because below that are the frequencies used for speech, so if you're still good in the 200 Hz to 8 kHz range, the test will say you've got normal hearing. Every sound except pure sine tones has overtones that shoot up way up past 8 kHz, and it's the overtones that give a sound its identifiable timbre. So if you've lost a lot of your high end, everything will sound slightly muted and duller, like you've applied a low pass filter to it. Meanwhile, the test will say you don't even qualify for high frequency hearing loss, because you're still good up to 8 kHz. It's bullshit, but they're only really concerned with you being able to hear well enough to communicate.

There are in home and facility options. In home is most common. If a Veteran qualifies for hospice in home hospice is provided either by VA (less common) or via Community Care to a local hospice agency. Any Veteran eligible for healthcare and deemed to need end of life care in a nursing facility can get Community Nursing Home (CNH) benefits.

Sounds like Ch, K, Th, S, etc., begin with high frequency sounds that are usually not able to be passed through a phone conversation. If you're like me you're more reliant on being able to see the lips make shapes to help determine the sound if you have any kind of partial hearing loss.

I loving love our organizations take on mental health. Now it’s all about being open and getting stuff taken care of so I tried my…fourth or fifth therapist since I’ve been in. We had a good relationship for a few months and then work got in the way and I missed an appointment. I called after to apologize and she said no problem, then slapped me with a $100 bill that Tricare won’t cover since I failed to show up to a virtual session. I asked her about waiving it and she said no-it’s her company’s policy and she believes in it. So I’ll go to Tricare and try to waive it but I told her to cancel any future appointments. Half the reason I’m seeing her is for stress and anxiety and I don’t need to worry about paying $100 if work gets in the way of my counseling session. gently caress this poo poo.

Update on the Rudisill case - the VA is still working on guidance and will be taking affirmative steps to identify people who should be eligible to use another 12 months of ch 30 after their ch 33 benefits have been exhausted. The big thing the person I spoke to in Muskogee emphasized is the break in service whether it's from re-enlistment or whatever. I'll post more whenever guidance actually drops.

does anyone here work for the VA, specifically in HR? one of the facilities where I work is a VA facility managed by a private company. The private company has dropped the ball on an abusive, incompetent member of management. Seven well documented sexual harassment acusations are apparently not enough for him to lose his job. I also suspect other things that I am working on proving. I am wondering if it's possible to escalate this situation in a federal way, and if nothing else ruin the day of some rear end in a top hat with a healthcare management degree. just need to know the best way to do this. Question for the crew - anyone had a "Claim for Authorization Review" pop up w/r/t their disability? I'm showing an in progress claim for auth. review that was received July 17th and on step 1, "Claim Received". I submitted an intent to file for increase back in April, but that ain't related to this it seems. I am guessing it could be just about anything and will get online with a VERA, but wanted to see if anyone here has had this happen and what all it could be about. As this is the VA, I'm guessing it could be drat near anything. edit: I used a browser extension to grab the following, claim type code is (690AUTRW) and end product code (EPC) is (699) and the associated resource links are (M21-1 manual, VERA and CFR 38). 690AUTRW is, per the manual, "reviews-authorization only" (VA ebenefits site Appendix C) and 699 is "unassociated service treatment record processing where no other EPC is pending" (VA ebenefits side appendix B). I'm guessing it's just a review of some sort, or some medical files were received they need to process or something. I am, however, not an expert. I'm emailing my VSO and have a VERA call on Monday, but figured one of y'all have had this kind of thing happen as well. edit edit: According to the VA folks, my service treatment record arrived and this is an admin action to review and reconcile everything. I did the stuff back in LA, so doing it at new home feels familiar. The calendar for Social Enrichment groups genuinely look like a good, sweet time. I mean... Where it sucks rear end is if you travel back and forth constantly, they are very bad about handling that, there's a program called "Traveling Veteran" but it's kinda a shitshow because VA information systems aren't known for agility. But if you're in a new state for a while then you can the VA and they'll get you a new primary care at the closest VA hospital to you, update your mailing address and so on.

Also you could just try calling your old doc and telling him that you're moving and you need a refill while you get setup. In my experience they tend to be pretty good about that because they know the VA can be a bit of poo poo show. Or on the odd occasion I've gone overseas for a long period, I let them know and they've sent out an extra batch of three months worth. I know ADHD meds can be a bit of a hot potato, so you probably won't get that kind of leeway but it should be reasonable.

I've spent the last couple weeks trying to get ahold of the eligibilty people for my new area, per the scheduling desk's instructions. It has not been going well. Has anyone gone in person to handle transferring to a new facility? I am getting some white space where I can handle that, but since the VA is full of surpises I wanted to ask if anyone here has had this experience.

Thank you. The only problem I foresee you having is with the new electronic health record system. I don't know how seamless the record sharing between the two systems are for getting your records sent from the old VA to the new VA if they are not on the same system. Definitely reach out to your current provider about the stimulant before you attempt to enroll at the new VA. You may need to update the address with your old VA so that the pharmacy can send it to where you currently are as opposed to the old address they have on record. quote:
