Leperflesh posted:Except they literally just released new Tau models, right? If their grand plan is to stop developing new models for anything that isn't a [chaos]space marine, why go to the expense of making brand new molds for a new big tau plastic kit? They literally just released Treeman models and a bunch of other poo poo for Warhammer Fantasy, and then canned it within a year. The minis are still on sale (in new boxes), with digital rule sheets for the new game, even though the old game is dead. I'm saying this is what's about to happen to 40k, and all signs - and precedent - point that way. Serious Gaylord has even said they went to the expense of sculpting an entire new Brettonian army, which will now never see the light of day. Well, "within a year" and "last month" are two different things. This forgeworld team tasked with working on specialist games is clearly a very recent decision that was only just announced internally. I don't think over a year ago when they made new wood elfs they had fully committed at that point to exactly what Age of Sigmar was going to be, beyond doing a lot of work on sigmarine models. Kirby was also still the CEO.

Is agility a problem for this toy company. Hmmph. I've been on mismanaged projects far more expensive and misguided than this.

Their product development takes 2 years from concept to launch, I think we can be absolutely certain they knew what AoS was going to be, and what was happening to WHFB, well before all the new End Times stuff started hitting retail. While this new Forgeworld team may not be far along, their plans for turning 40k into a heresy era all-marine and chaos mirror of Age of Sigmar was either developed alongside AoS, or came later on during the AoS development when it was looking, internally, like the greatest idea in history. Could've sworn you had Still, doesn't change that they knew everything WHFB released during the End Time period was for a game they were about to kill.

A few of us at my FLGS were pretty drat excited about specialist games coming back until we found out Forgeworld would be handling it. We all had a collective "well gently caress that" moment when we heard Forgeworld. I also will assume that even though it is Forgeworld, they will still manage to gently caress up Blood Bowl by completely ignoring the NAF rules and go off their own bullshit that doesn't work.

One of the best parts of Epic was the Squat armies, it's the only place that they truly worked. And the Chaos Primarchs too. I guess you won't be able to have them because now they'll be normal marine sized!

Going back the Blood Bowl Team Manager I think the game is solid, but the teams themselves aren't really balanced super well. Also which abilities you randomly draw in the early game will have a huge affect on how successful you are at the end. Having said that it's much more fun than actual Blood Bowl.

I was gonna say they wouldn't want their game getting customers from people that liked the PC version but apparently that game is rear end so maybe not that...

I wonder if, when they go to remake the specialist games, they'll rename everything to hilarious word salad in the belief that it acts as a talisman against anyone trying to sell generic sci-fi punk or "fantasy football" miniatures. Gangforged Hivejuven

This specialists games thing almost, almost makes me want to check for Ash Waste Nomads. Then I remember I can go buy more Infinity to troll my friend's PanO list with. Better models and sane rules to boot. On a side note, found some Armageddon campaign era WD's in boxes after I moved, might have to go back and read those battle reports.

In my experience they actually do the opposite: continue to hold old stock that's OOP but worthless yet still asking for MSRP for them. Thankfully the LGS that's actually ran like a business (though I don't see the owner much anymore cuz he's Sanders' campaign manager ) does discount old stock aggressively.
