Nope, rebirth away.

Out of the first few hero's you can get from Verna and Tezen. Any particular team that stands out as the best? Currently leading towards Chris, Alfred, and Carrot. Not sure on the last one though. Either Deborah or Sraka.

Sraka's in a bad place at the moment: not tanky enough, melee range only, no good CC, crappy passive and 3rd skill. Deb's your go-to AOE/ranged scissors hero until Chenny.

If you want a good tanky melee, try Lance. His newly buffed skills are pretty baller now and he can walk over swamp which is the most annoying impassable terrain. Lance is also a huge help in the paper exp dungeon.

I'd probably drop Alfred for Kai since Alfred's skills take forever to level and his charm is only 28% max'ed.

Yea, they're 2x exp multipliers, so each one is worth 9x cats (9x cats + devil's soul), or about 3/4 of a full day of cat-exp at high levels (when you double-reset the cat-exp dungeon every day).

If you're having trouble with progression, use them on your highest damage hero to level up fast and try to get the next tier of equipment.

Fair enough, but its fun for the moment. Usually it only takes 1 of 2 tries if I didn't get SS the first time. And I tend to go back and work on them once I start getting B rank on new levels. I was under the impression that it helped with expeditions loot though. And helps a bit on that long grind to 1k red crystals for the Lord costume.

I used to think that too, but you'll be getting 150-200% for free from your friends' mercenaries, so an extra 50% is only a 1.25x modifier to base probability for free stuff. I'm lucky if I see a few extra red crystals a day from expeditions.

Keep in mind, the only costume worth buying is Serendi's. Priority for red crystals should be (in order):
  1. Expedition to level 10
  2. Friends list to 50 slots (once you're strong enough people are using your Merc for expedition runs, upgrade to 100)
  3. Roll for accessories (if you lack them for your main 5 party members)
  4. Expand inventory a few times for sanity (optional)
  5. Serendi's +move Costume (600 crystals)
  6. Reset Coocoo/cat-exp dungeon twice a day (wait till you can do at least level 7 of the dungeon)
  7. Invest in Lord Masteries

What I use (probably suboptimal)

Anyone: status immunities (if you roll them)
Tanky melee: All Defense
Damage: All Crit
Specialist CC, e.g. Mu and Raboff: if you can get sufficient (~55%) defense from gear+masteries, you might want enough MP potentials to get another cast off
Support(???): I'm generally happy with either crit (stronger heals), defense, or MP

If you happen to have built someone for dodge, you may need dodge potentials.

Other notes: Make sure attack, defense, hp character masteries are maxxed (third tier of battle tree)

Aside from the starter+extension package NinjaDebugger mentioned, IAP packs are terrible value. They are also incredibly generous with free IAP stuff (from daily logins, daily quests, expeditions, and the new Tower of Dawn).

The %hp damage should work, but the boss is paper (30% less dmg from rock), its defense is quite high (40%), and it takes less damage from melee attacks. An armor debuffer and Lena should help. I've made Lena my merc--make sure she's attacking from a flank (side or back) for extra damage.

Sraka seems to be losing steam fast, not sure about Kai. Either of them worth 4-starring, our focus on someone else?

Of the healers, level Gillan. His disarm is extremely useful in Tower of Dawn and against any boss without disarm-immunity.

Sraka is garbage. Kai is nothing special anymore--you already have Alfred and Jack, so I wouldn't bother with him. Get Jack, Deb (if that's who you mean by Dorothy), and Carrot (or Mu) to 5* before you start focusing on bench-warmers. 5* equipment is an enormous jump in power.
