I'm sad that the Steam release is smack dab in the middle of my exams because I want to get back into it just in time to crush hapless steam F2Pers

This game is legit even though it's a VN and most VNs are bad porn

Ultras can be double-tapped, firing them a second time before the normal cooldown is done but with a chance to jam which takes some time to clear.

The dynamic armour/structure slots are from Endo Steel/Ferro Fibrous. They take up 7 (clan)/14 (IS) slots that will move out of the way when you place something, but only if there's room elsewhere in the mech for them to go.

After Handbook: House Kurita was released, a guy claiming to be a professional Japanese translator posted on the official forums in an Ask the Devs section and pointed out that pretty much every instance of Japanese in the book was either wrong at best or total nonsense at worst. The response was a slightly more polite way of saying "shut up, we're game writers not linguists" so that's the kind of attitude at work.

The lore behind ProtoMechs was fine and they're interesting in gameplay, it's just the visual design that was disastrous.

The Nexus, Raijin, and Grand Crusader in that game are canonical, though the game took a bunch of liberties with the art. Ragnarok looks a lot cooler in the game than in the art. The game's manual was a huge tease that said there's a rare 4-legged version of it that doesn't seem to actually exist in the game.

If you treat it like a Hunchback, it sees you through some nasty brawls. I actually recommend normal medium lasers though, to keep your heat managable. I'm maintaining a 3 to 1 KDR with that build, far higher than my usual poo poo average of .90

Yeah I'm using an standard 300, endo steel, 4 mediums, AC/20, 5 tons of ammo (sometimes too much, sometimes too little depending on the match), some extra heat sinks, ECM (goes without saying really), and maxed-out armour minus a touch on the legs to shave it down to the closest half-ton. Feels good man

It runs hot enough with 4 standard mediums and a bunch of extra heat sinks so I can't imagine being able to use medium pulse lasers for any length of time.

I've never played in Tier 5; it put me in Tier 4 when I came back and played for a week. I saw poo poo, man. The one that sticks out as most iconic to me though is the Jagermech JM6-A with 2 medium lasers and 4 LRM 5s. The prevailing tactic seemed to be to put a few LRMs and a poo poo ton of ammo on whatever has missile slots.

I like the news about the customizable pilot even though it's totally inconsequential, but I want a classic model that is just shorts and a coolant vest for maximum authenticity

Cockpit things that aren't war horns are awful and just clutter up the screen. I mean I'm playing but I'm not going to do more than my usual hour a day for this. A free mech even a lovely one will at least get me to go after a few extra pulls.

Really I think I'm just annoyed at the top tier thing being s ugly loving mug of green beer. I'd rather have 100k cbills or 5 mc

I feel like warhorns are too big and block too much of the view but I roll with my fuzzy dice and Classy Mech in my main rides and I will never stop.

Cyclops is one of my favourite assaults in the board game, at least with the right variant. There's one with two gauss rifles which is good stuff.

Mech Commander gave the scale from 8 meters tall (Commando) up to 16 meters tall (Atlas) and I felt those numbers were nice.

BattleMaster

I've seen a lot of builds like that and I don't understand where the tonnage goes. That's like 12 or 13 tons of weapons.

BattleMaster
Aug 14, 2000

Ugh I might buy the Cyclops plus reinforcements so that I can fill out my entire drop deck with ECM (with RVN-3L, CTF-0XP, GRF-2N) since it looks like I might be able to equip it essentially the same way as the CTF-0XP.

(buy it then you can use it as much as you want on any robot, which i guess is ok)

The special and premium prices are a bit expensive but I was seriously expecting a smaller number of decal slots per mech and fixed size/placement for them.

edit: if there were 'mech part company logos as Basic options I would actually consider dropping a bit of money just to NASCAR up my 'mech since goodness knows we spend a lot of time doing that anyway

BattleMaster

I'm kind of tempted to drop $20 on some pack or other just to get that Cataphract. They're my favourite heavy and a bunch of medium lasers and an AC/20 with MASC could be fun.

If it aint broke, don't fix it.

I run straight-up this with -1 DHS +1 ton of ammo. Cataphract has always been my best heavy and before the 0XP came out I was running an identical 1X except with another medium laser in place of the ECM, but having the ECM is a nice safety blanket.

I wonder if the loyalty one with MASC instead of the ECM and an identical weapon setup will be worth it?
