man she's got a LOT of extra costumes for this seeing as she is also getting a bunch of T-shirts for pre-orders, her nurse costume from Mercenaries 3D, and her basketball outfit from that one photo in RE2. Y'all can poo poo talk about that game all you want but for some reason it has always been one of my favourites of the series (behind RE2 and RE4)

And here's the book I was talking about, The True Story Behind Biohazard. Aaaaand here's my dumb article on The Cutting Room Floor comparing the camera angles between an old-rear end RE prototype and the final game. I made a mistake on one of the videos where I said I didn't think there was an independent games winner in the game awards, but I'm a big dumb idiot and forgot. There is! Video games suck, so it doesn't matter.

For the record, pharmaceutical labs love farmland. The midwest is full of great areas to use as testbeds for new chemicals.

Fair enough. It;s just that, between stuff like cheerleader and cowgirl costumes, I thought 'Sexy COBRA Operative' was definitely a step up.

Spose your right, they are getting better. Definitely a step up from the ones in Rev2. Anyway LP question: you just plan to do one runthrough with Chris, right? we're not doing a rerun with Jill are we?

We're playing through the original as Chris, taking a short sidegame break, then playing Director's Cut Dualshock as Jill. e: Again please refrain from asking questions of what we will/won't be playing, we're planning on updating fast enough that you'll know sooner rather than later. Choco1980 posted:For the record, pharmaceutical labs love farmland. The midwest is full of great areas to use as testbeds for new chemicals. They still wouldn't headquarter there though, right? Like; sure you build all your labs in the midwest, but you'd keep your HQ in a big high-rise building in a major city so you look huge and important. I just kind of assumed that Raccoon City was the sort where it built up around the major industry there, but then I'm from Michigan, where Detroit built up around Autos on the one side and Battle Creek around breakfast cereal on the other.

Raccoon City is a really weird place in general, considering it's a population of a little over 100k but has a glorified SWAT team made up of over twelve people. My home city of Sudbury has a population of 160 and is made up of several townships kinda smooshed together and the idea of a SWAT team existing at all within it is kind of inherently laughable.

meh, Michigan isn't terrible industry wise. Or at least, it didn't use to be. A surprising amount of companies started here but moved out in the 60s-80s for whatever reason. Like I recently learned that the Daisy BB gun company (who make the Red Rider from A Christmas Story) started in Garden City. Out by my mom's in the Kalamazoo area there's some major pharmaceutical facilities that seem to change hands often. For a while they were all owned by Pfizer, the guys who make viagra.

According to the wiki, Racoon City was originally a small town, then got bigger when Umbrella opened a chemical factory there, which caused a population boom.

I guess the main point of contention is that I interpreted "based in" to mean "has the headquarters there", but it could also mean "controls the local economy there".

Well I think they kind of realised that after the fact so they ended up building up the story that Umbrella really was international. I mean Code Veronica starts with Claire in Paris supposedly at the European headquarters (now why any French government office was ok with an attack helicopter opening up on a building in downtown Paris is a different discussion) and from there Umbrella just retroactively got bigger. So the Dualshock version eh? Never gonna forget that music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kcF7E69C6Q

I think the bigger problem with Code Veronica is that Umbrella owns its own private prison island that nobody thinks about or questions. e: Also yeah the director's cut stuff plus the soundtrack change in Dualshock was enough to make me feel like it's worth taking a look at. I don't think the two are mutually exclusive. Like in my example of Battle Creek Michigan, Kellogg's and Post are both centrally located there, with most of the relatively small city built up around their success, and they certainly both have international presences. BC has only a little over 50K in official population, so I guess Raccoon City is a bit bigger, but the model stands, making Umbrella the reason RC thrives not at all unheard of.

Thanks so much for showing up! Very, very soon we'll be ready to move on...Next time, on Dragonball Z!

Thanks for that. Being the noob I am, I have some questions. From least serious to most... Why the hell is there a giant snake and giant spider in the mansion? Literally everything else gets explained. Why did Wesker's hair spontaneously go from blonde to black in the climax? I'm assuming what happened to Barry is revealed in Jill's story Um, if I'm reading the notes correctly, did Rebecca do exactly what Umbrella wanted to by blowing up the mansion? And finally, what was Wesker talking about before he shot Rebecca? There is absolutely no way I made out that back and forth between him and Chris over you guys cackling over Chris' delivery...

This doesn't really matter until the climax, but the last 24 minutes of both stories are very different and it makes little sense either way. He actually says nothing about betraying Umbrella, his motives in Chris' playthrough are practically nonexistent. In Jill's though there's no mention of him "formerly" being with Umbrella so it's assumed he's still working with them and attempting to further their agenda. Wesker's motives are actually so unclear they had to do an entire mocumentary with him as the narrator actually explaining what the gently caress he's trying to do.

Good point, nothing is explained properly during the speech at all! It's just got to the point now that because I've played through the series so many times my mind just fills in the blanks with most of the plotholes and related gubbins. Oh dear.Lady Naga posted:"formerly" quote:Wesker's motives are actually so unclear they had to do an entire mocumentary with him as the narrator actually explaining what the gently caress he's trying to do. That's the problem, it's not unintentionally funny like Survivor or the first game is. It's written juuuuust competently enough that it sounds reasonable but awkwardly enough that if you pay attention it's strange and offputting. You can look it up if you want but since it talks about stuff from 2 and 3 I'll be posting it in the thread after we wrap up Nemesis as a leadin to Veronica.
