I feel blessed to live in socialism where all electronics can be taken to the recycling centre for free (I kept my 1084 though because it's kick-rear end and has RGB and everything.)

Three-Phase posted:Have you ever hard to carry or help move a 32" Sony Trinitron? It's volume to weight ratio is somewhere between lead and a fricken neutron star. A quick googling suggests a 32" Trinitron weighs around 80 kg, which would mean you're a nerd

I don't know what that is either but I'm assuming it's a lovely Chinese-made American brand of TVs? The solution, of course, is to buy a decent Sony-brand LCD TV like I did so you don't need external inventions. The only thing I've had trouble with is Beat the Beat Ryhmyparatiisi for the Wii but I don't know if it's because of lag or because I suck at it (I didn't think there'd be a product literally called Framemeister )

King Vidiot posted:I have never played SMB on a flatscreen so I don't know what you're talking about. The input lag thing was something that people who know way more about refresh rates and hertzes and poo poo than I do came up with, because of something to do with how NES was programmed with old-rear end TVs in mind. "People who know" is a type I'd be hesitant to trust on any matter based on my experiences on audiophile forums.

Do they even make black-and-white panels or is it just a regular colour panel use to display b&w images?

Actually, most of the lag is between your ears.

A SWEATY FATBEARD posted:TV sets manufactured in 1980s Japan were bulletproof. I've had a Japanese-made Sanyo from 1981 that lasted no less than 27 years of everyday use. I like how you bolded 27 years as if that were somehow remarkable or specific to Japanese-made CRTs. Then again, I just generally like how.

A SWEATY FATBEARD posted:The gotcha with that TV set isn't that it lasted for 27 of heavy use, the thing was that this TV was switched on every single day from 7 in the morning all the way to 2AM. Any other TV set pressed into such heavy use would have given up after only a few years (as Sony and Philips have demonstrated.) No you dummy, what has been demonstrated is that newer televisions aren't as durable as older ones. (Well, no it hasn't but let's say it has.)
