OPENINGS
Death Parade [OP]/[Full]
Probably one of my favorite anime openings ever, I ended up liking this song so much and the other songs by the same band I bought their album when it came out. The animation also worked really well with the song and was just a fun opening all around.

Gangsta [OP]/[Full]
Gatchaman Crowds Insight [OP]/[Full]
Noragami Aragoto [OP]/[Full]
Same reasoning on all three of these: I really enjoyed the songs and looked up full versions and listen to them periodically; the animation wasn't really a factor here since most of the time I'm just listening and not watching the opening to the show.

Perfect Insider [OP]
Contrary to the rest of the list, this was my favorite opening animation and the song could really have been anything.

Honorable mention:
Gundam: IBO
I swapped this one back out for Noragami Aragoto's OP after listening to that one again lol; I'm just going to stick to my original list instead of letting IBO bump one out of my top 5.

ENDINGS
Kekkai Sensen
The only ED I can think of that stood out, it was a fun song with a really cute sequence.
Might add some more EDs later, but I'm not remembering anything stand-out right now beyond that one.

e: revising some stuff, added links

One thing that always gets me about these threads is if we should base it on just the music, on the animation, or both?

For example, the Shimoneta opening is cool, especially with the naration, but it's not really a good song.

Similarly, OPM's theme fits the series, and the opening is stylistic, but minimal, but I just don't think the song is that good on its own.

I'll post a list later...

OP's

Perfect Insider - Talking
Great animation and art style, Song is nice too.

Death parade - Flyers
Just a lot of fun.

Garo the Animation - B.B.
Jazzy JAM Project! The grey and gold color scheme looks nice.

JoJo Egypt arc - End of the World
This took a while to grow on me, but it's packed with detail. Later on it builds the excitement to watch each ep. Full song is great.

ED's

Iron blood Orphans - Orphans no Namida
Really good song, the lead in during episodes works really well.

Kekkai Sensen - Sugar Song to Bitter Step
Another fun song/animation combo

JoJo - Last Train Home
Cozy, great colors and the track has a real feeling of finality.

I also like the way Ninja Slayer did ED's with a scroll through the characters who showed up each episode, and bloodying up those that died. Each episode had a new ED song. Not a vote though.

Including a couple shows that are continuing, because there's a good chance they'll get new songs for the new season.

OP

  • School-Live! - Friend Shitai Catchy. As. gently caress. Plus, it changes as the story progresses and i love that sort of thing. Also led to some really super great fan works Did i mention it's very catchy? Because it is.
  • Chivalry of a Failed Knight - Identity While the song is pretty decent it's mainly the visuals that put in on this list, super stylish and cool. Plus, hey it changes as the season goes on.
  • Gatchaman CROWDS: Insight - Insight Just fuckin awesome: looks great, sounds great , and every little piece of it seems to fit the themes and events of this season of the show as well.
  • Osomatsu-san - Hanamaru Pippi wa Yoiko dake Catchy. Funny. Very silly and cool looking. Frequently gets stuck in my head and sometimes i even rewind the show just to watch it again.

ED

  • Iron Blooded Orphans - Orphans no Namida For giving me chills every time it kicks in at the end of an episode.
  • Concrete Revolutio - The Beginning Man this one rules, no lyrics- just some cool rear end music and some great visuals to cap off a great show. Visually it kind of looks like a witch's' barrier from Madoka Magica
  • Yurikuma Arashi - Territory OK, so the show was bad, but whatever. The ending is a decent song and the dancing bears are cute as heck.

Non Non Biyori - Ripe's voice is really fitting for the series; I like the youthful energy and vigor that she gives it.
Kekkai Sensen - I'm fond of the tune and the vocals.
Yuru YurI San Hai and Working!!! - Both series have always had catchy OPs, and this year's no exception.
OPM - I WANNA BE A SAIKYOU HEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Best EDs
Koufuku Grafitti - Very soft and soothing, yet with a great deal of enthusiasm and glee.
Working!!! - Like its OPs, Working's EDs are also very good. Catchy beat, good singers, sweet tune.

Best Next Episode Preview Music
Taberu~ Tsukuru~ Taberu~ Tsukuru~ Taberu~ Tsukuru~ The animation was fuckin' adorable and the music was infectious.

I WOULD PROBABLY LIKE THEM AWARD
Monogatari OPs and EDs rarely disappoint, so if I'd actually watched Owarimonogatari I would have probably liked its OP and ED.

RUNNER UP OF THE YEAR
Probably Working!!!! or Koufuku Grafitti. Both series have great OPs and EDs.

WINNER OF THE YEAR
Sweet Song and Bitter Step from Kekkai Sensen, bar none. There's a reason I keep posting this video to the chat thread. Combined with a great OP, Kekkai Sensen wins this year's OP and ED anime for me.

Best OP for me cannot be anything other than Death Parade, it's just too darn fun. I wish the anime itself had been more like the OP but what we got was still good.

And because I'm an absolute sucker for Akiko Shikata, the best ED is Akatsuki no Yona's second ending.

The actual ED has like my favorite animation sequence of the entire year and goes with the song utterly perfectly.

Jump to :50 if raw food joy bothers you.

OPs:
Charlotte - Has this really not been posted? This show *is* the OP. Like there is nothing else. Better story in a minute and a half than whatever.
Kamisama Hajimeshita S2 - low key cute does low key cute.
Heavy Object - for a show that is little more than two guys exploding things and talking about boobs, this is the intro.
Yamada and the 7 Witches - good song, looks gorgeous, does smart stuff within the ultra basic *characters standing in profile* thing, also better than the show it's associated with.

ED:
Shokugeki
Shimoneta - Even better than the OP imo, underwear mask dance leader is still hilarious to me.
GATE And thus the JSDF hit da town.

Kyun kyun
Kyun kyun
Watashi no kare wa louse

this one was actually only in season 1: the season 2 ed was Genesis by Eir Aoi

...which happens to be one of my favorite EDs of the year regardless! it's a lovely song. as for the others,

fourth is the second one of Aquarion Logos, Hontou no Koe wo Anata ni Azuketakute by May'n. i can't really explain why, I just really really like it

third is Symphogear GX, Rebirth-Day by Ayahi Takagaki because it's a symphogear song and going to be on here

taking second (gasp, heresy) is of course from Iron-Blooded Orphans, Orphans no Namida by MISIA. it really is good as everyone can attest to

and first is going to be I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU ALL FORGOT ABOUT HEROIC LEGEND OF ARSLAN it's Lapis Lazuli by...uh, Eir Aoi again, I guess today I learned I really like this band i've never heard of seriously this is one of the loveliest things

AS FOR OPENINGS

...uhhh...i actually really like the second one of Cross Ange tbh, Shinjitsu no Mokushiroku by Yoko Takahashi. the music in this show was really really good in general! just a shame about the show itself. btw video is NSFW because cross ange of course

Friend Shitai by uhm, the voice actors of Gakkou Gurashi is on here, not...REALLY as a song on its own, but because it's absolutely perfect for the show. it's infectuously genki and cute. almost annoyingly so. like, this is the song that would be playing in a bad sketch comedy about torturing someone by playing an anime theme on an infinite loop. and that is what makes it spot-on for the premise of the show

Fafner Exodus's first one, Exist by angela. but usually a song by angela is a free space for me. none of them top Shangri-La but this one is still great.

Rokka no Yuusha's was great, Cry for the Truth by MICHI. why the hell did they just, drop it after episode 3

and let's be honest everyone knows Flyers by BRADIO is taking the top spot. it's the most catchy thing i can imagine

...i feel like this season i did not watch all the important shows though so i'm probably missing some really cool ones
